  1. I think we'll be fine with him on the bench for a couple days.
  2. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 09:33 AM) Was it one? I thought he picked Jenks, Buehrle and Konerko. Contreras, Thome & Dye were voted in by the players. That's what I had heard also.
  3. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 08:29 AM) That's why I love the salary cap in other sports like the NFL and the NBA etc. which makes it a far more fairer marketplace for all teams but that's JMHO. I think most of us would agree with you on that.
  4. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 08:01 AM) When they make the playoffs. Still got half a season left yet folks. So you only have respect for teams that make the playoffs? No one picked the Tigers to be where they are. How can you not respect what they have accomplished so far, whether they wind up playing .300 baseball the rest of the way of if they make the playoffs? So you typically only respect the Yankees and Red Sox since they make the playoffs each year? I have a lot of respect for the Royals team that came out of nowhere a couple years ago even though they didn't make the playoffs. It's good to see a perennial loser prove the critics wrong.
  5. They've been in first place for quite some time now. And when they lose they still look amazing pitching-wise. Not sure what other proof the doubters need.
  6. He's a 2 pitch pitcher. He would not be a good starter.
  7. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 04:02 PM) What it usually says is that you're shopping like crazy for a center fielder... I was thinking the same thing.
  8. Will MLB give vote tally updates over the next few days? EDIT: I'm a bit slow today. Nevermind.
  9. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 03:51 PM) MY NEW SIG! "Honestly, we don't put too much stock in opinion outside of our clubhouse. I'm not saying that to sound arrogant, but if we would have listened to what people outside the clubhouse were saying, we wouldn't have had our second baseman, our right fielder, the left fielder, the center fielder, shortstop, half the pitching staff and the catcher. So, sorry, we believe in what we believe in, and that's the way we'll sink or swim.'' very nice.
  10. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 03:46 PM) I agree and I'm sure he has. Let's see if Coop solved his arm-angle problem tomorrow. What's the deal with the new arm angles? Are they necessary? He seemed to be just fine before he started tinkering with new arm angles.
  11. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 03:36 PM) Count - Dominant in the second half of last season and even better over the first 2 1/2 months of this year. Not to be picky but I would say his first 2 months this year have been dominant. June numbers this year: 3-0 with a 6.21 ERA, batters hitting .314 against him. He needs to thank the offense for bailing him out.
  12. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) EDIT: and the reason why I say it's not ok to say those things about Garland and Vazquez, because realistically, there's no way to use them on this team if they are not starting, and there's no guarantee McCarthy would be any better. CLEARLY the best course of action for now (while they are still WINNING!) is to stick with them until at least the end of July. I agree. And we will now start playing some of the better teams. For some reason we seem to step it up against the elite teams and play down to the lower tiered teams.
  13. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 03:04 PM) Are you a pessimist or a realist? I find it funny that you have a playful, witty response to Steff's post yet you roll your eyes in another thread where I post a similar response as hers. Perhaps if I had breasts you'd be more playful with me?
  14. Well I guess we should just shut this board down since there isn't anything left to talk about.
  15. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) We all know they key. If 'long ball Freddy' shows up on this humid night, it'll get ugly quick. I bet he's already dripping with sweat.
  16. QUOTE(Sox It To Em @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) Hasn't Bedard owned us in the past? Or am I thinking of somebody else? 1-2 with a 5.60 ERA
  17. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 01:10 PM) That right there is soxtalk in a nutshell. You can't voice legitimate concerns about the team without someone jumping down your throat. As lons as we're civil about it I don't care. Makes visiting the site a bit more entertaining.
  18. I picked Ozuna since I don't think anyone would have guessed he'd be such a spark. He was getting close to Timo territory last year.
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 01:03 PM) Well technically it's Juan Sanz-Uribe. LOL True but maybe they're cousins. BTW the Javier Vazquez guy I had up was a disappointment. That's when Javy got rocked vs the Astros.
  20. Perhaps I should keep my Uribe avatar for a while longer. He seems to have caught fire since I added it.
  21. I personally think he tried too hard to be an RBI and power guy last year because of our somewhat weak offense. Now that he isn't relied on so much offensively I think he is more comfortable at the plate.
  22. Personally I'm content with the way AJ is hitting. I'd love for him to take more pitches but that's not who he is.
  23. Supposed to clear up later this afternoon.
  24. Bedard 8-6 4.72 vs Garcia 10-4 4.65 Time to kick some Oriole ass!
  25. QUOTE(bmags @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 11:53 AM) you know i've made fun of VAfan as much as anyone...but he makes legit points here. How long will our offense cover up for our defensive and pitching woes? Indeed. That's why I think it would have been smarter for Ozzie to give Crede the 6th spot for the ASG instead of Mark. It wouldn't hurt to have our pitchers have some extra rest especially after a shortened off season.
