Have you seen the Movie American Pie? It is really funny. Has all kinds of hijinks.

I thought once Lee and Prior were back the Cubs would start kicking ass again? Guess not.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 05:43 AM) You can't bring back a life, therefore get rid of the death penalty entirely. I have no problem with that.

This city bashing is immature and pointless.

QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 09:49 PM) Ok, I've got the Tigers penciled in for about 137-25 at this point The problem with the argument I keep hearing 'wait till they play better teams' is that they are better than most of those teams. Other than our team, no one matches up to them. They only have 6 left against NY and Boston so that's not going to make a big difference in their standings regardless of how they play in those games. For us to overtake them and be up on them till the end, Minnesota and Cleveland need to get their s*** together and beat them occasionally. And what's with all this talk about the history of Chicago and Detroit city? If I wanted to learn about that s*** I'd go to wikipedia or something.

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 09:29 PM) Can we please make soxtalk a sox only zone, i for one am sick of having to defend my team on a site that i can get out some anger. Why post in a Tiger thread then?

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 04:59 PM) The White Sox, Red Sox, and Yankees come to mind. What are they, 3 and 10 vs. the "other" 3 best teams in baseball? Well they play NY and Boston a total of 6 more games. Even if they were to be swept all 6 games it's still merely 6 games.
-
QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 04:05 PM) When do the Tigers play some decent teams again so we can take over first place again? Problem is there aren't a lot of teams out there that can beat the Tigers.

Do my eyes deceive me? Did Pappelbon blow a save today?

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 11:47 AM) Hes hurt? News to me. After you left the game he had an infield single in extra innings. After a couple pitches he was replaced at 1st by Uribe. Apparently he tweaked something trying to beat out the play on the hit.

QUOTE(JackTalkThai @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 10:20 AM) A big Berto Sanchez fan is he? He gets all worked up about how every team has an up and coming Latin American stud pitcher except for the Sox.

QUOTE(tealeafreaderii @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 10:02 AM) So did Montero get a save yesterday? he pitched three good innings of relief.... Wow. I can't believe you just asked that. Next time check the box score to save yourself from embarassment. -
QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 10:29 AM) Didn't Bill Mueller hit 2 grand slams from each side of the plate vs. Texas a couple of years ago, when he was still a red sox. I'm not sure if it was in the same inning but i am pretty sure that he did do this. Yes he did. Different innings.

QUOTE(JackTalkThai @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 09:46 AM) I think the Tigers have two plans in place to avoid dead-arm from happening with any of the starters. Plan A: Maroth comes back, they keep Miner in the rotation and they just roll 6 starters giving guys an extra day off every now and then. Plan B: Maroth doesn't come back so they call up Humberto Sanchez who is arguably THE top minor league power arm who has yet to pitch in the majors. Kid has a 1.50 ERA and has struckout 105 guys in just 83 innings. He's also 6'6", 230 lbs. Disclaimer: If Plan A occurs, the Tigers will still likely call up Sanchez to work out of the pen. He's just not getting challenged in the minors right now. In his three starts since being called up to AAA, he's 3-0 with a 0.47 ERA. Don't let Flash see this post!!

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 08:55 AM) Vazquez reminds a lot of Garland in his early years here... He has an electric arm, probably only second to Contreras in terms of pure stuff, but it takes nothing to get to him. He really needs to go to the AJ School of Cajones and learn to just tough it up. He seems like the kind of guy who when he "gets it" will take off and start winning 18-20 games a year. As soon as he served up that 1st HR last night and flailed his arms I knew he wasn't done giving up runs. He has trouble keeping his cool after a bad pitch or bad call from an ump and it's apparent from a mile away.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 08:52 AM) Iguchi is our most versatile and situational hitter. Although he's had some great games this year I don't think he's as consistent as last year. Especially when trying to move a runner over.
-
QUOTE(S720 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 08:42 AM) By the way, that's the one pitcher that Cooper has not been able to help. Or Garland this year.
-
I guess I don't consider eating up 6 innings in a game while giving up 9 runs to be a plus.
-
QUOTE(The Critic @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 08:24 AM) Didn't someone hit two grand slams in one inning before? You are correct. Might have been a Dodger or Cardinal. Late 90s if I recall correctly.
-
QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 08:12 AM) Iguchi only hits homers when it doesn't count. Tell me about it. Especially that one against David Wells.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 12:39 AM) I'm not making any excuses for Javier. He hasn't pitched to his ability yet... He hasn't pitched to his ability for about 3 years now. Who knows if he will at all this year. He won't be facing KC every time out.
