2006 White Sox Catch-All Thread
BigSqwert replied to greasywheels121's topic in 2006 Season in Review
QUOTE(DePloderer @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 02:36 PM) So, it seems that no matter what banner is up we are losing at the moment. Would anyone like me to reinstate the game banners yet? I like them. We are losing because the team is playing like s***. -
Just saw this on espn.com. Apparently Suppan is going for his 100th win even though Reyes is pitching.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 12:57 PM) In the pen, Politte needs to figure it out or go. I think over 2 months is enough time to figure it out. Like Ozzie said, we don't have guys up here to work on their stuff. They're here to win another championship.

QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 10:22 AM) The hosts lambasted the Caller again and said NO, YOU WANT TO TALK SOX, GO AHEAD AND TALK ABOUT THE SOX, and verbally chastised the caller, saying that "Winning is Boring" and thats why they werent talking about the South Siders and nobody wants to talk about winning, theres more to "talk about when your Losing". I guess that's why there was no Cubs talk in 2003.

QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 11:04 AM) Well what do you want? Call me crazy, but I thought the whole point of the championship Sox was pitching and defense. We've got plenty of offense (well, potential at least) this year, way more so than last year. So if we have a great CF who just happens to suck at the plate, I'll take that tradeoff. C'mon, it's the same deal with Uribe. His average sucks, but would you want anybody but him at SS? Not me. I understand your point but being ok with an .058 average is stretching it a bit.
-
QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 10:53 AM) I don't care if he's batting .058 Most people do. Including Kenny and Ozzie.

Any chance of the Braves trading Andruw Jones? I know I'm grasping for straws here.

QUOTE(worldchampsox05 @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 09:45 AM) who gives a s***..Chicago loved Aaron but that didnt stop KW. personally i think all these Philly fans are full of s***. They dont know him like we do and hes only been with them for 7 mnths and has been only playing for 2. So why would they want to get rid of him? He's having a very solid year for them. -

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 09:01 AM) Outside of Brian Anderson and Juan Uribe (who hasn't listened much at all, just reading the quotes this year, and years past) the hitters are doing fine. Not sure I agree. Feels like 2004 all over again. Hitters look amazing one day and the next day they seem to all pull the ball or hack at the 1st pitch. Would like to see some more patience out there, have some of the guys slap the ball to the opposite field, shorten up with 2 strikes, etc. All these 6 and 7 pitch innings are getting on my nerves. We see them way more than we should. -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 08:51 AM) I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance AND I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 08:25 AM) Awesome. I am glad to see Ozzie taking the Bull by the horns, and it really showed with the excellent bunt that Tads laid down on Sunday. Now lets see Coop and Walker do some magic. -
Official Get Jermaine Dye to start the ALL Star game Thread

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 12:01 AM) Ozzie will bring the right guys to the all star game, so I have no worries about the voting stuff this year. My point was that the number of Sox that should be there aren't as high as they were a couple weeks ago. (I'm taking a shot at our starting pitching) -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 08:33 PM) ...what the f*** is Greg Walker being paid for... To watch the opponent throw 6 pitch innings against us.
-
QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 09:01 PM) Can Dye play cf? Don't crucify me, just asking. No.

After the A's series I figured we would have about 4 All Stars (Dye, Iguchi, Buehrle, and Contreras). Now I think we'll be lucky to have 2, with Dye and Iguchi (possibly even voted in). Thome will be hurt by not even being on the ballot and not playing 1B this year (NL park so no DH). I don't see any of our pitchers making the team at this point. A slight case could be made that Jenks could make the team but how many closers will Ozzie take on the team especially with Papelbon being a lock? -
QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 07:55 PM) Sabathia getting lit up, they need more hand puppet days CCINAA?
-
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 07:40 PM) BTW, I know it doesnt seem possible, but if Anderson wasn't out in CF today, the score would have been alot worse. Brian needs to be out there everyday. Not sure I agree. Not one of BA's better defensive games this year IMO.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 06:28 PM) Trouble was, we had our best defense today on the left side of the infield I think he meant outfield as well.
-
QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 06:23 PM) Carl Everett and Robbie Alomar should be available any day. Perhaps he can 'pull an Everett' and grab Marte or Vizcaino again? They seemed to have gotten things back on track.
-
Sorry about your mom. Not sure where to guide you on the yearbook.
-
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 06:15 PM) His numbers at home aren't anything to brag about either. Yeah but a .164 slugging percentage?!? Sheesh.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 06:08 PM) Salomon Torres is just bad. He currently has a 1.49 WHIP in the NL, imagine what that would be like against superior competition. I'm sure Cooper can fix him.
-
Wow. This is the first time I looked at Brian's splits. His numbers on the road are eye-poppingly bad.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 05:47 PM) 4 for 13 is beyond a small sample size. He got beat up in his first outing against the D-Rays and allowed a hit to Raul Ibanez those are the 4 hits he allowed to lefties this year. Hardly worth mentioning. I'll give you that but we haven't been world beaters vs lefty pitchers this year. Maybe the stacked righty lineup isn't the way to go?
-
QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 05:46 PM) Yep. That puzzles/bothers me too. For some reason he doesn't use that same logic when the opponent is batting (See BMAC vs Catalanato and Politte vs Chavez).
