QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 05:42 PM) Likely that more than the day off thing, I agree. I wonder when Oz will realize that it isn't working as well as it does on paper? He does the same thing against other lefty pitchers. Lefties hit Johan Santana much better yet Ozzie does the stacked righty lineup against him too.

LMAO Love the sig Flash.

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 05:36 PM) When I got to the park today and saw that the "Sunday" lineup was in full force, I wanted to strangle Oz. The lineup we saw today was because Ozzie wanted his right-handed hitters to bat against the lefty. For some reason he thinks that gives us our best chance at success even though lefties hit over .300 against Rheinecker (granted a small sample size).

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 05:29 PM) How about Jim Edmonds sacking up today and stepping up to the plate by playing hurt because his team needed him. I didn't realize he played. For some reason I thought he went on the 15 day DL. So it's just Carpenter and Pujols?

Twins about to lose. Now we just need Captain Cheeseburger to have a bad game tonight.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 05:15 PM) I got about 40 in yesterday. I have my votes set to PK, Gooch, JD, Pods, Crede, and Pierzynski. I wrote in Gload at 1st, Cintron at 2B, Ozuna at LF, Widger at C, and Juansky & Clutch at their normal positions. -
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 05:02 PM) Yet, last week I was criticized for not believing Nelson would become an effective addition to our bullpen. It was clear as f***ing daylight he wasn't going to offer us much of anything. I "gave him a chance," as others have insisted, and he showed us NOTHING. First indication should have been the Cardinals releasing him. Second should have been the obvious drop in velocity and over reliance on a hanging slider. The red flags were all over the place regarding our bullpen this year. For crying out loud we had a single A guy in our pen on opening day.

Damn. I hope it's not too serious. I would really love to see him get #500 before it's all said and done.

QUOTE(stretchstretch @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 04:56 PM) times like this the Sox REALLY miss Rowand, the guy was a clubhouse morale machine. Having Thome is awesome, but giving up Rowand meant a lot to CF defense, base speed, a near 300 avg, and a huge intangilble of keeping guys loose and simultaneously fired up. Watching him go this winter broke my heart after what he meant to them last year. Anyone see his diving cath webgem last night, or the collision at the wall that put him on the 15day DL a couple weeks back, that kind of thing just fires people up and I wish he was on our bench right now. Maybe we can give Philly Garland and Anderson in a trade :headshake How many times are we going to see this exact same post on this board? Can we throw Aarow into the starting pitching rotation? How about the bullpen? No? End.of.story

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 04:56 PM) Team W L PCT GB Detroit 37 20 .649 - Chi White Sox 34 22 .607 2.5 Cleveland 28 27 .509 8.0 Minnesota 25 30 .455 11.0 Kansas City 13 40 .245 22.0 Although I'm usually quite negative I have a lot of confidence in our team turning things around. No other team is on fire out there. There's a bunch of teams hovering around 31-33 wins in both leagues. We have the talent to pull away from the pack.

Wonder how the Cards react to having 3 of their best players on the DL? We saw what happened on the north side of town.
-
Tigers and Sox wetting the bed now that they are facing opponents over .500.
-
Frank get hurt today? Noticed he was PH for in the 3rd after getting a double in his 1st AB.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 04:20 PM) AJ is a positive, too, of course. Although I generally agree, he has been the quietest .326 batter I've seen in a long time. Only .200 with RISP and that's after finally getting a hit yesterday. Also, his arm seems to be better this year as far as gunning runners down. Last year it seemed like he never had a chance.

I love how Don Cooper gets all the praise when the pitching staff is clicking on all cylinders. When they are struggling it's the player's fault.

QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 04:10 PM) 1. We are 12 games above .500 2. DJ has gotten much better at play-by-play in the booth 3. Crede continues to swing a hot stick 4. Garland has come around and is pitching better than anybody on our team, save contreras Roger Bossard rocks.
-
Who's the leader on this team? I know Paulie is the captain but he's pretty quiet. Maybe they need a players-only meeting? Something needs to be done to shake these guys up. LOL - Check out gameday for the Cubs. The guy pitching for the Cubs (Marmol) has the biggest picture ever. Maybe it's just a bug on my laptop?
-
Surprised they didn't give the kid a shot at the CG. Threw only 94 pitches....about a total of 15 in the last 3 innings combined. I don't know who sucks more right now. Us or the Tigers?

QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) Montero already fitting in nicely, giving up a homerun to Laird... :headshake CWSOX45 Still looks way better than Cliff.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) LOL *removes foot from mouth*

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 03:22 PM) Montero not looking too shabby so far.

Montero not looking too shabby so far.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) but they still need an OF who can handle all three positions defensively ... it is something they've needed all season. Those guys don't grow on trees. How many teams have a 4th OF who can play all 3 positions out there at a high level?
-
So this will be 3 straight series losses. If it becomes 4 I'll be extremely worried.
-
This guy may get a CG with under 100 pitches.
