  1. QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) Cotts and Politte are totally ineffective-who would have thought that these 2 are likely being replaced by Thurmond and Nelson Strom Thurmond?
  2. QUOTE(Sox It To Em @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:19 PM) Dye might be our best all-around hitter. Right now I would say he is.
  3. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:18 PM) This bullpen needs to be repaired and sooner rather than later. Kenny...are you listening??
  4. Looking at the Detroit bullpen and I must say I am jealous right now. So many guys with ERAs under 3. Do we have any?
  5. My main man spiderman! Love him.
  6. Perhaps our pitching isn't as amazing as everyone made it out to be during the pre-season.
  7. QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:05 PM) What in the world happened to the pitching staff? Don Cooper went to the Bahamas for a week. When he gets back everything will be just fine.
  8. QUOTE(Felix @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 07:37 PM) What's up with Count? Laboring today. Falling behind batters and a lot of weak hits in the first couple innings.
  9. Apparently Verlander doesn't pitch the same to the Sox and Yankees as he does to the Royals. 6-3 Yanks.
  10. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 04:57 PM) It's time for Count to get his fastball up to the mid-90's again and stop all this talk about the Cubans' velocity being down. I'm looking forward to Count blowing 'em away again tonight with lots of heat (and just the right number of sinkers). Welcome to hell
  11. Breaking news. Apparently Paul Byrd will be wearing his hair like this tonight:
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 03:11 PM) Dealing only with the Sun Times, because that's what Lexis is letting me have Mentions of the Cubs vs. White Sox in the headline or first sentences of an article: 2006 (as requested) Cubs: 570 White Sox: 513 2005 (note, White Sox sweep Astros to win first world series since 1917) Cubs: 1351 White Sox: 1486 2004 Cubs: 1800 White Sox: 1138 2003 (note: Cubs make NLCS, choke) Cubs: 2024 White Sox: 1391 2002 Cubs: 1281 Sox: 893 2001 Cubs: 1015 Sox: 736 2000 (note...White Sox won AL Central this year) Cubs: 944 Sox: 948 1999 Cubs: 939 Sox: 560 What sticks out is the 2003 Cubs vs the 2005 Sox. Even thought the Sox won the first WS series in ages for Chicago, the Sun Times had less to say about them then they did for the Cubs in 2003.
  13. About a week ago we had the easiest schedule and it still seems to be the case.
  14. QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 02:36 PM) Give them Garland and Anderson. Do we have to remind everyone on a daily basis that Garland has a no-trade clause?
  15. QUOTE(Shamrock4Life @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 02:26 PM) when/how did jose get the nickname count? Favorite cereal = Count Chocula
  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 01:37 PM) the cubs are owned by a large media source, of course their stories are going to be focused towards their team. How do you explain the Sun Times disparity?
  17. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 01:23 PM) facinating = creepy Who's side are you taking on this one...? Ilk or the alien. Who's the alien? Henry?
  18. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 01:19 PM) Let Henry do his magic, there are many here who are interested in his work. I find his research fascinating. For the media there's always a reason to talk about the Cubs. Cubs suck? Well they have to talk about how bad they suck and what they need to do better. Cubs are kicking ass? They will talk about how great the Cubs are (see 2003) Cubs mediocre? They will talk about what they need to do to kick ass. Sox kicking ass? Not much to say since all they do is win (see 2005) Sox suck? Who cares since they suck. Sox playing mediocre? Once again who cares.
  19. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 11:37 AM) Question. Whats the Bigger sports story in Chicago Illinois? A: The SOX who are 1.5 games out of 1st Place? OR B: The Cubs who are 1.5 games out of Last Place? If you said B, you would be correct, unfortuneately. The SOX find themselves with the dubious distinction of being Champions of the baseball world, but Cellar Dwellars in regards to Media Coverage. Im sure everyone knows that other team is owned by the Tribune, which owns other newspapers and tv stations and radio stations around the country, so that pretty much explains it. Chris DeLuca does a story today, and instead of telling everyone to HANG ON, the SOX are only 1.5 games out and they can take the lead and the division soon enough, INSTEAD decides to tell everyone to HANG ON, the other team is only 13.5 games out, and they can take the lead and the division soon enough. The White SOX, despite Winning the World Series in 2005, and being only the 5th team in MLB history to lead from wire-to-wire, find themselves INEXPLICABLY lagging in attention from the Media, to a team that is currently as close to last place as the SOX are to 1st Place. ridiculous. Chicago Tribune: 4 cub stories 3 sox stories Chicago SunTimes: 6 cub stories 3 sox stories Standings as of Thursday June 1st, 2006 Priviledged, Media Owned, Media Favored, 4th place in 2005 Cubs 507 Underdogs in Chicago, Media Ignored, WS Champions in 2005 SOX 414 Welocme to the dark side Henry!
  20. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 06:59 AM) Pablo Ozuna could see some time out there... OMFG.
