  1. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 27, 2006 -> 11:20 PM) However it is still completely idiotic strategy to have somebody that hits and gets on base hit 9th, it's a waste of scoring chances. Btw if you haven't noticed, AJ is not driving anyone in this year. He is getting on base and Uribe and BA bat behind him making the 2nd and 3rd outs of the inning. AJ hasn't done well with RISP, hence the low RBI totals. Just saying.
  2. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 27, 2006 -> 11:20 PM) Fair enough, and the Angels do that now with Kennedy. However it is still completely idiotic strategy to have somebody that hits and gets on base hit 9th, it's a waste of scoring chances. OK guys I get it. Call my mother a whore while you're at it.
  3. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 27, 2006 -> 11:17 PM) That would be like starting the game with Jenks and Cotts and closing the game with Buehrle. Not very smart. I was just thinking of the Sox of the late 80s and early 90s when they would have a .300 hitter at the bottom of the order to be a 2nd lead-off hitter.
  4. Anyone think it might be a good idea mixing up the batting order to try to switch things up a bit? Maybe bat AJ 9th since he's not hitting for power and he could provide a bit of protection to BA and Uribe? Just a thought.
  5. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 27, 2006 -> 11:02 PM) But where is the quote about Uribe? I'm scared that he's just gonna keep putting him out there because he was a light hitting SS. Uribe has likely cost us at least 2 games in the last week. I have a feeling Alex gets the start tomorrow.
  6. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 27, 2006 -> 11:00 PM) I am going to go with Kal here and say that Oz is trying to light a fire under there ass, especially with Uribe and Ando... I think so too but I'm sure something will be done if they both have a bunch of 0-fers in the next few games.
  7. *awaits goofy Rowand trade scenarios*
  8. I guess Ozzie wasn't kidding about making changes. I also wonder what Kenny has up his sleeve. I'm sure he's eyeing a player or two out there.
  9. QUOTE(SoxAce @ May 27, 2006 -> 10:07 PM) Here comes the Griffey/A. Jones rumors... Damn. We should have traded Maggs for Andruw when we had the chance. :banghead
  10. What's equally scary is that we face 2 lefties to start the Cleveland series. This might turn into a prolonged losing streak the way we've played vs lefties.
  11. Hopefully Brian has a good game or two in the next few to ensure his stay up here.
  12. Link Anderson on exit ramp Guillen appears close to shipping slumping Sox rookie to Triple A By Mark Gonzales Tribune staff reporter May 27, 2006 TORONTO -- A two-month slump and a potential need for another reliever could end rookie Brian Anderson's honeymoon with the White Sox. Rob Mackowiak started Saturday for the fourth time in six games in place of Anderson, and manager Ozzie Guillen intimated that he would continue to start the lineup with the best chance of producing. Guillen said he would talk to general manager Ken Williams after the team arrives in Cleveland on Sunday night to discuss options following the Indians series. One scenario could involve sending Anderson to Triple-A Charlotte, where he can try to regain his batting eye and stroke. But Anderson might have gained a temporary reprieve by hitting a line single off Jason Frasor leading off the 11th inning Saturday to snap an 0-for-13 slump. "I don't want to take the confidence away from him," Guillen said before Saturday's game. "I believe he can play in this league. I believe we have a case like the [Jon] Garlands and [Joe] Credes. I try to be patient with him. "All of a sudden, [he might] give me good at-bats. "Getting hits is hard, getting good at-bats is easy, and right now he's not giving me good at-bats. "The next time he plays, hopefully he'll give me good at-bats, and we'll see what's going on." Anderson's biggest tests could come on Monday and Tuesday when the Sox face Cleveland left-handers Cliff Lee and C.C. Sabathia. Anderson is batting only .122 (6-for-49) against left-handers this season, and Guillen admitted his biggest problem now is carrying a bench with too many left-handed hitters (Mackowiak, Ross Gload and switch-hitter Alex Cintron). "If we keep [Anderson] here, he'd better start swinging the bat better," Guillen said. Gload and Pablo Ozuna also can play the outfield, which makes it easier for the Sox to carry a 12th pitcher if needed. "My problem is we're facing Cleveland and Detroit, and Detroit has two lefties (Nate Robertson and Kenny Rogers) and Cleveland has two (Lee and Sabathia)," Guillen said. "And that's my concern right now if I have to make a move. After the Cleveland series, we'll see what we're going to do. "But to me, I'm leaning toward another pitcher."
  13. Point taken chitown but I believe this team needs a kick in the butt right now.
  14. Kap, everyone = chitownsportsfan QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ May 27, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) I hope the guys go out and get a little drunk tonigth then come back ready to play tommorow". Or something to that effect. Get drunk? They have a 12:00 game tomorrow!
  15. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ May 27, 2006 -> 09:25 PM) s*** happens. It's a long season, like I said. It won't be the last time the team scores 1 run and loses. Ozzie doesn't need to point fingers right now This team has looked pretty bad in its last few road games. This is about the best time I could think of for Ozzie to go off.
  16. BTW - Anyone going to any of the Cleveland games during the week? I'll be there Tuesday and most likely Wednesday.
  17. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ May 27, 2006 -> 09:09 PM) Ozzie needs to calm the f*** down and remember that it's a long season. What game were you watching? That was one of the worst games I've seen them play in a long time. Offensively that is. Tek Janssen was at 58 pitches after 2 innings. How the hell did we let him off the hook?
  18. I will admit that our team played poorly today, minus Jose and Thornton, but Ozzie didn't have his A game either. Here are my Ozzie criticisms. Granted some of them are of the "hindsight is 20/20" variety: 1 - Why leave BMAC in against a tough lefty when Thornton was ready? 2 - Why wave Dye to 3rd when a single should have scored him from 2nd anyway? 3 - Why not have Pods steal 2nd and then have Uribe try to bunt? Much smaller chance for a DP. (Actually I believe I was against the steal at the time ) 4 - Why keep Nelson in for a 2nd inning?
  19. Link Guillen ripped his team after they failed to execute some plays and went 3-for-10 with runners in scoring position. "If they're not willing to play, there's going to be a lot of changes to this lineup pretty soon," said Guillen, whose team is in second place in the AL Central with a 31-17 record. "The execution was terrible, horrible. We didn't lose this game because of a home run, we lost this game because we didn't do what we're supposed to do on the field from the first inning. We didn't bunt the ball when we were supposed to bunt the ball." Guillen also might have been upset at Jermaine Dye, who didn't hustle and was thrown out by right fielder Alex Rios while trying to go first to third on Joe Crede's single. It was the last out of the 10th. "If they want to be a bad team, they can continue to do that, I'll play somebody else. I don't care who they are and what they do. My job is to try and win games and that's what I'm going to do. If they don't like what I say, they can leave and do whatever they want to do," Guillen said. "We're better than this. We're way better than this. If you want to be in second place, keep playing like that. If you want to win, we have to be better and that starts right now. It's not because Detroit is winning."
  20. *awaits Griffey rumors to surface again*
  21. Tigers win 8th in a row and have Rogers going tomorrow for the sweep. They are a very confident group of guys. Winning is contagious.
  22. QUOTE(tigerfan @ May 27, 2006 -> 08:12 PM) I do actually post over at a Tigers board too. I just started doing this so you guys are aware of what we are doing, in case you can't see the game or something. If we can post on this board that means we have access to the game (MLB.TV. Gamecast, Gameday Audio, etc).
  23. 35 - 14 now. Pretty damn good if you ask me.
  24. QUOTE(tigerfan @ May 27, 2006 -> 08:10 PM) Double play again! That's 4! Incredible! Curious...isn't there a Tigers board you should be on?
