QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 19, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) Why not bring a sign that says something. Such as: I just wanted to see what it felt like to be a loser. Or bring a sign that says "I hope our team gets full blown AIDS". All the papers will write about how messed up Cubs fans are.

QUOTE(Gldfinger5 @ May 19, 2006 -> 01:34 PM) Fellow Sox Fans I'm going to to the Sox / Cubs game on sunday with a couple friends of mine who are cub fans. They were two people who bought season tickets just to scalp the World Series tickets. Obviously with them being Cub fans, they were not planning on using the season tickets. They told me I could pick out the games I wanted at no cost with one stipulation: I have to work a cubs shirt and hat they provide me for this sunday's game. Thought about it and decided to go with it, figuring I'd find a way to have fun with it. I picked out several games and now the day I'm dreading is approaching. I wanted to get some ideas/opinions from you guys on how I can turn the table on them. Let me know your ideas. Thanks!! Murder your friends and go to the game with your Sox gear.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ May 19, 2006 -> 12:38 PM) There's no statistical logic that says they will play .500 ball from here on out because of their hot start. There have been plenty of teams that start out on fire just to fizzle out. It is also possible that we fizzle out.

QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ May 19, 2006 -> 12:30 PM) Tell you what. Let's revisit this thread in August after Kenny Rogers has a 1-5 July and see where we're at at that point. I hope you're right but I just don't understand why it is impossible to think they can actually be a good team this year. Did we not all learn something last year when we were dismissed by most of the country?

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ May 19, 2006 -> 12:32 PM) But I would bet that a large number of those Sox fans were wearing Cubbie blue two years ago. I doubt it. I don't think fans switch over that easily no matter who you're a fan of. BTW I was out in Harvard earlier this week for work. Love that Dairy Daze! -
QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ May 19, 2006 -> 11:55 AM) Detroit's record: Against KC (10-28) - 4-0 Lemme know when Detroit is capable of even WINNING A GAME against a real team. We have trouble beating Tampa and KC. They are 4-0 vs KC so far. Things like that might be the difference between a wildcard and a division title.

Just walked through the Cumberland blue line stop on my way to grab some lunch. Great to see the Sox fans coming out in large numbers over there. Saw maybe 1 or 2 tools with Cub gear. Of course I am wearing my Konerko jersey to work today. -
Just because we have the best team on paper doesn't guarantee us anything. A lot of people on this site think that because our lineup is awesome that we are a lock for this division. Every year there are 2 or 3 teams that have an amazing lineup on paper but fail to get the job done. Lets not get too over-confident with our team. I really like our team and hope they do well but there is a possibility that the bullpen doesn't get much better this year or that some of our starting pitchers' ERAs don't come down.

QUOTE(JackTalkThai @ May 19, 2006 -> 09:19 AM) The Tiggers have gotten 18 homeruns and 46 RBI from their EIGHT and NINE hitters. So I guess if you combine Brandon Inge and Craig Monroe together...you get Albert Pujols. That's not bad production at all from the bottom two of your lineup. Must be nice.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 19, 2006 -> 08:29 AM) 11 days from the beginning of the end for the Tigers. I guess we'll have to see if you're right. I, for one, don't think the Yankees are that great. Tigers look scarier to me.

QUOTE(rudylaw @ May 15, 2006 -> 01:47 PM) I think it is funny that churches are so scared for people to see this movie. Some countries are banning the movie all together. I heard someone this morning saying that the reason churches are so mad is that Dan Brown portrays the book as facts and history but there is no real proof. To that I say what is the proof that any thing in the bible is true. Too bad the Catholic Church didn't show this much anger when their priests were groping little kids.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ May 18, 2006 -> 01:34 PM) Kenny Rogers is a notorius quick starter who starts to fade around the All-star break. Over the last 3 years he has a 3.87 ERA before the break and a 4.80 ERA after it. Evidence suggests that he's doing the same thing this year. There's no way he finishes with a 3.23 ERA. He is now pitching in a hitter's park and won't have to deal with 120 degree Texas heat. Might do a little better in the 2nd half this year.
