  1. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 07:22 PM) Well, it's not like the guy used gay people to shake down political contributions and suck up some votes come November... come on now. "He just expressed his opinion!!!!!!!!!!!" False. This isn't a case where he just made a comment/opinion. As clearly stated several times in this thread, he has contributed millions of dollars to organizations who are actively involved in trying to prevent gays from getting equal rights. Why do you only focus on the comment he made and not on the other part?
  2. Prometheus sequel confirmed.
  3. QUOTE (GO CHI SOX! @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 03:37 PM) The Red Sox placed Nick Punto on waivers today. He would be a better option than Hudson at this point... Richard Simmons would be a better replacement at this point.
  4. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 03:02 PM) Oh come on now, donating money to a group and telling your employees to keep the queers out of the store are two entirely different things. GMAB. Edit: and what as the CEO done to "actively promote" discrimination? Stating he doesn't like gay marriage? Providing millions of dollars to organizations actively promoting discriminatory behaviors.
  5. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 02:38 PM) Actions separate and apart from their business operations and how they treat their customers. That is an important distinction as well. CFA has partnered with Focus on the Family. They even included interactive CDs designed by Focus on the Family in some children's meals. FYI, Focus on the Family is a very politically active organization trying to fight same sex marriage.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 01:29 PM) Really? You can't believe they sold a very tiny music device that was cheap, especially with their partnership with nike for runners? Just because a tv company makes a really sweet tv doesn't mean they shouldn't offer smaller, less sweet ones for those who can't afford the highest end. It doesn't mean they don't produce groundbreaking products just becasue all of them aren't. Don't mind Joe. He thinks Apple is a terrible company that makes awful products.
  7. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 10:25 AM) They have Field Roast at the Park now don't they?? They do and it's awesome.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 07:01 AM) Have any of you guys made any donations to the Obama campaign? I made a very small donation a few weeks ago and so now I am on his donor list or whatever. The emails I get every day are quite entertaining. I won't be donating to either campaign.
  9. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 10:38 PM) Thanks for the good info. I will absolutely get the garlic fries, among I'm sure plenty of other things. We're looking at that Monday game 8/13. I'm not exactly sure where we are staying (I'll find this out), we'll have a rental car but if there's a way to take public transportation we'll probably try to do that. Not sure how possible that is, haven't investigated at all. Any particular suggestions for beer on tap there? I know we're doing the pike tour, the underground tour...wife's planning a few other things. Heard the needle isn't a "must" and not all that worth it(?). Not sure where we have dinner planned but open to suggestions for that or for lunches, etc. We're open to some active kind of activities or even just fun places to go walk around. Your public transit option to the game is taking the bus. Bus service is pretty reliable here. I honestly can't remember all of the draft beer options at the park so you'll just have to see when you get there. I'm a big Fat Tire guy so I typically stick with that. I haven't been to the needle and have no interest in going. My wife went with a friend and said it was ok but I'd probably skip it. I think it's $20/person so it doesn't seem worth it. Being vegan it's hard to recommend food but a lot of people rave about Serious Pie downtown. It's a fancy pizza place. Might be worth a try. If you have a couple hours I'd go check out Discovery Park. It's a enormous park in the city and you can do a really nice and easy hike. On a clear day you'll see Mt Rainer and the Olympic Mountains. You can also go down to the shoreline at one point and walk over to a lighthouse. We spotted some bald eagles in the park last time we were there. I'll poll some of my friends on food spots and check back in.
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 07:54 PM) Doesn't matter much. It's hard for him to run any slower. Screw running. I want him to have the legs to drive the ball at the plate.
  11. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 07:51 PM) HUGE Phew! MLB.tv has the delay so i'm getting tipped by you guys.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 07:48 PM) I'm getting awfully tired of Addison Reed Likewise. Not feeling comfortable with him being the closer down the stretch. That's an awful lot of pressure to put on a young guy.
  13. QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 10:40 AM) Two Words = Garlic. Fries. Best I've ever had. Also, they have Fat Tire on tap. My girlfriend is from Seattle so I've been a few times, and it's easily my favorite ballpark I've ever been too. I don't think there's a bad seat in the house. You'll wanna hope the roof is open, but even if it's not it's such a gorgeous park. Can't disagree with anything said here. Garlic fries are fantastic, all the seats are great and top notch beer on tap. Definitely would be nice if the roof were open when you attend. Try to roam around and check out the park. Lots of cool things to see and a wide variety of food all over the place. If you're going on a weeknight, traffic is atrocious in Seattle so maybe try leaving a bit early if possible. Weekends aren't as bad. Don't know much about you Illini so give me some ideas on what you like to do and I can come up with some suggestions. Tons of nearby hikes, great restaurants, water sports, etc. Heck, maybe I'll meet you up for a beer at the game. Which game are you targeting?
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 06:49 PM) That makes you just as bad as the CEO of ChickFilA. Being intolerant of gay-haters, i.e., bigots, is the same? False equivalency. Random guy #1: "I love child pornography." Random guy #2: "I'm intolerant of child pornographers!" SSK25: "These two people are the essentially the same."
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 05:32 PM) But guys, Gavin sucks and is a mental midget!! Good observation as this is true.
  16. Would be great to get this run in. These Texas bats scare me.
  17. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 07:40 AM) I think this is kinda bulls***. http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/bre...,0,929023.story So they support one definition of marriage. There's been zero evidence that the store, or its employees, discriminate in anyway. I miss my former alderman.
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 07:44 PM) Rios is having one hell of a year. Way too many cynical people in this forum questioning him. The guy has been an All Star this year in my book.
  19. Why can't we have the DH hit for Gordon and have our pitcher hit in each game? We might have 10 or so more hits as a team at the end of the year.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 07:40 PM) A very underrated story on soxtalk the last 24 hours is that KW tried to acquire Ichiro. I just vomited into my mouth. First I've heard of this. Perhaps he should try signing Dan Pasqua while he's at it.
  21. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 07:37 PM) SPEED NEVER SLUMPS, UGH. DUH.
  22. I'm going to try and stay positive but a broken Konerko is a bad omen. The guy hasn't looked the same in a long time and he is the main spark to this offense.
