  1. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 12:18 PM) Again our starter pitches a shut out and again our offense can't capitalize. This is getting old. Quintana deserves a win. This offense is mediocre at best when Paulie is struggling.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 12:17 PM) Nice play by Hudson. If Sox acquire Youk, will Hudson just be cut? No need for him at all, then. He has a clause in his contract which allows him to join the grounds crew.
  3. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 12:09 PM) Has Q surrendered a HR in his MLB career? You're really asking for it if he winds up giving up a few later today.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2012 -> 08:58 AM) Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi #Marlins (4-12) tied with Colorado for the worst record in baseball during month of June. Greg will blame this on the players not executing. Their good May was entirely attributable to Guillen.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 06:38 AM) My wife loves it Mine too
  6. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 09:19 PM) So your free African refugee gets sick, he can't afford the doctor. Your not just going to let him die. You will need to make sure he can get free access to healthcare, isn't that Obamacare. 1924 a trip around the world was a different thing than it is today. You open up the doors without any control in this modern world and you would be shocked at the entry. Hell how many undocumented people from our neighbor to the south. Mandating a portion of the populace to purchase health care is the equivalent to "free" in your eyes?
  7. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 08:52 PM) It's not sustainable. What makes the undocumented worker attractive to business is the lack of benefits and the lack of a real wage. Are we going to give them a minimum wage? So let's add a few million Pakistan/Indian skilled workers. How do you think that is going to play with American citizens and their job seeing status. Maybe we bring 10 to 15 million refugees from Africa. So what jobs are they getting again. They won't come if there aren't jobs for them.
  8. Would be nice to see Sefalosha still on our team. Great athleticism and great defensive energy.
  9. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 12:08 PM) No, I might be the only person here not pretending there aren't viable alternatives. There are. I do like Google maps, but it's not so much better than Bing maps, or the upcoming Apple maps that I couldn't switch. Let me clarify. Google Map's turn by turn navigation is absolutely excellent and that's what I rely heavily on. I already know they are rated the best in mapping services so the backbone/foundation for their navigation is nothing I ever have to worry about.
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 12:05 PM) For the love of Pete...it's a f***ing map program, people....what the hell do you do that requires you to depend on this thing so heavily? I travel often for work and I now live in a new state. It's a critical app for me.
  11. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 12:01 PM) So does Apple and Microsoft. You might be the only person alive that doesn't recognize google as the king of maps.
  12. They will not top it. Google literally has cars driving around mapping streets all over the world on a consistent basis. They will not be overtaken any time soon. via
  13. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 11:24 AM) I just shattered the screen on my barely 8 month old T-Mobile G2X. I dont have the money to get a new phone right now. Are there any good/reliable cellphone repair places that will replace the screen? THere's a "hole in the wall" place near me, but I get worried about places like those. I like quality and reputation. Ouch! Just as ICS is rolling out on that device.
  14. What do you do when you rent cars in other cities?
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 06:51 AM) Yeah, I learned to navigate by the stars. In all seriousness, a coworker drove us to lunch a while back and used a garmin device to get us to a new spot we hadn't eaten at. As we were driving I looked at the awful UI of the device and wondered why the heck would anyone have one of these since my Galaxy S II had a much better display and an exponentially better looking UI...and for free. I couldn't understand how garmin and its competitors were still around and then I remembered there are millions of iPhone users out there.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 06:45 AM) It's worth a lot of money to have people paying for that feature though, right? I guess. Glad I went with a competitor and got it for free.
  17. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 06:04 AM) Apple's maps in iOS6 probably won't even be available until the iPhone5 is out...that will give 2 generations support for turn by turn (4S and 5). As it is now, NO iPhone gets turn by turn with the Google maps software they currently use...so I don't see how you can possibly pretend this is a negative. Currently, nobody gets turn by turn unless they buy a GPS specific app, such as Garmin, etc...for over 50$. After the change, 4S and 5 users will get turn by turn via built in maps software. I just find it crazy that it took this long for them to get free turn by turn. That's a feature I use very often on my phones.
  18. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 12:22 PM) Interesting Take Fascinating read. Thanks for sharing.
  19. Threw this in here since it's from The Nation and has political undertones. LINK
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 08:23 PM) Higher order primates are something like 98.6% match, right? From what I understand, yes.
  21. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 06:44 PM) Long term revenue, yes it maximizes. I think it's unthinkable to most teams. How many teams did that, especially in a big market? Correct, making season tickets $5 and then trying to go back to normal prices...no one would ever go. Talk about crippling an organization. I never proposed cutting season tickets to $5. Current season ticket holders should have seen small decreases in the past couple of years though.
  22. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 06:34 PM) How is that relevant? If they continued to jack up prices every year when the economy was doing well then they're going to continue with sky high prices during a multi year recession. They'll never cut the price back on season tickets to pre-recession levels or lower. It's unthinkable in their eyes. So your "formula that maximizes income" is already inherently flawed as it ignores a large number of fans who have been hit by the economic conditions.
  23. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 06:11 PM) It is pretty simple - they crunch numbers. They know exactly what tickets are bought, how many, what days, what the revenue per person is inside the stadium, etc. I worked in the industry, you sit down with a formula and using the information, make a best guess. They don't just pick random numbers out of a hat and call them prices. If they thought they'd make more overall money by having $5 tickets in the entire stadium, they would have done so by now. How many times did season ticket prices go down in the past 5 years during this recession?
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 05:48 PM) Congratulations on mistaking post 2005 for White Sox attendance history. Why wouldn't the last 7 years be relevant? You want to base prices on fan behavior in the 70s?
