  1. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 05:28 PM) I thought that I read that Danks will be with team in LA. Thus something has to happen in that series.Quin could possibly be sent down. Doubt that R would do that to Q. You'd think Z would be in the mix. And don't get me started on O.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 05:14 PM) But season ticket holders are already going to be upset/depressed/demoralized when the stadium's like a mausoleum on many nights and there hasn't been a discernible "home field advantage" since 2008. It's already true that 80% or more of their efforts go to keeping the 20% of the attendees (season ticket holders and corporations) happy. It's hard to think of another stadium that is more clearly divided beween the 1% and 99%. If there is, I'd love to hear of an example. The fact of the matter is that they've lost roughly 20-30% of their season ticket holders over the last 2-3 season, and it's largely because of the product they've been putting out on the field. In the end, they can do more creative things (all you can eat bundles) to keep the season ticket holders happy...while not irritating your core customers. The fact of the matter is that because our fanbase is so small, there has to be another strategy besides firework, a few random giveaway nights and have a winning baseball team to put fans in the upper deck. They might be maximizing profits, but they're not creating an atmosphere that's conducive to attracting free agents or even just playing winning baseball at home.
  3. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 03:36 PM) Some people don't understand math. If the goal was to get people in the seats every game, they'd sell every ticket for a dollar. The reason they don't? They actually lose money that way. They've crunched the numbers. There's a reason tickets cost EXACTLY what they do at every pricing level. I don't think it's as simple as you're making it out to be. How often do they lower the cost of season tickets or individual tickets at the start of a season? Rarely if ever. You're telling me after yearly increases because of inflation and whatever other factors they use in their formulas that all of a sudden they'll slash everything because the economy tanked and people don't have as mush disposable income? Haven't seen that happen.
  4. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 03:32 PM) I was really looking forward to a conversation with the space jockey in stasis. Instead he just went berserk and left the whole thing infinitely more grey. Indeed. I'm hoping that conversation takes place on their home planet in the sequel.
  5. I must say that this is one of those rare movies that I wouldn't mind seeing in the theaters for a 2nd time.
  6. That's what happens when Damon Lindelof is one of the writers. Way too much ambiguity.
  7. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 03:21 PM) That's one of the things I felt were left unanswered. It didn't bridge the movies entirely. Plus, as you can see with the arguments recently, I'm not sure exactly what the opening scene was depicting. From wikipedia for what it's worth:
  8. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 03:12 PM) "Vial", Marko. Doh
  9. What year is the 1979 Alien film supposed to take place? I'm assuming that over time the Aliens in Prometheus evolve to the ones we're more familiar with?
  10. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 03:04 PM) That's exactly what it was... The creation of human. But aren't those tall dudes essentially human? They had a 100% DNA match.
  11. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 02:49 PM) But as he swallowed the vile in the beginning scene there was a different type of space ship in the sky that left the planet. What was all that about?
  12. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 02:33 PM) exactly. He's a starter with a starter's repertoire. There is zero risk in having him start in the minors and there is a good chance that you get a reward in him getting consistent work and using the nice sinker-change-curve combo to his advantage. I really like his stuff, but making the poor kid a reliever didn't make any sense unless we were in "win now" mode Can't disagree. He's obviously not cutting it as a reliever. Send him down and make him a starter again.
  13. And what do you guys make of that initial scene where the guy seemingly committed suicide? Do you think that was Earth and was he sacrificing himself to deposit his DNA on the planet?
  14. It certainly set up a sequel or 2 IMO. I could see Dr Shaw and David showing up on the planet/moon where those tall dudes originated from. I'm excited at the possibilities.
  15. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 02:19 PM) Way past due! Also doesn't bode well that our only 2 reliable starting pitchers will likely run out of gas in September unless their innings are reduced at some point by missing some starts.
  16. What else do KW and RV need to see to get rid of Stewart?
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 10:43 AM) Compared to how the NBA worships its players to the point that the refs call fouls based on how famous guys are, I would rather know less about Joey Votto and have a quality league. It's not like Joey Votto is hurting for money. You're also a die hard baseball fan. MLB is likely struggling to get more casual fans to turn into die hards.

    QUOTE (juddling @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 04:26 AM) I was watching Hot Tub Time Machine last night and was surprised to see Don Draper's wife naked and topless riding Craig Robinson. The actress (Jessica Pare) is very nice on Mad Men but she's pretty stunning as a blond too.... :notworthy Here's the video for those who don't want to queue up the entire movie. Obviously NSFW
  19. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 9, 2012 -> 10:04 PM) Meat SoxFan1 wants to suck my what?
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 9, 2012 -> 09:05 PM) Barkley and MJ? Not quite sure Charles was still at the top of his game, but close. Malone and Stockton weren't quite at the top of their games, either. No. MJ vs an old version of Magic Johnson.
  21. Watching Manny Homophobe Pacquiao vs Timothy Bradley Jr who trained on a vegan diet. Guess who I'm rooting for?
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2012 -> 08:49 PM) The difference being a decent amount of people could have gone for full price. Which people are you referring to? The stadium is a ghost town these days.
