QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 07:42 PM) Serious question, has Contreras ever thrown a CG in his life? Probably 100 of them in Cuba. He is as mediocre as they get in MLB. IMO -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) He's on pace for 100 at 6 innings. 6 innings for a #4 or #5 starter is pretty good. The bullpen is well-rested. You rock. You are definietly the voice of reason among the masses of negativity. -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 07:28 PM) God, I hate Jose Contreras. I was not too happy to hear that he was starting the 2nd half of the season....especially since we are on a 3 game losing streak. -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) When is Dye gonna move up in the order? Our hottest hitter for a few months and he's mired in the 6th spot in the order. Paulie showed America on Tuesday how dangerous he can be. -
QUOTE(soxhawks @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 08:18 PM) i think eckstein sucks i would hate to have him on the team, he reminds me of willie harris with a bettter average and slower. he is the most annoying player in baseball i want to punch him every time i see him LOL!!! I feel the same way. My good friend, who is from St Louis, raves about him all the time.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 08:11 PM) Andruw Jones: '05 - $12.5M '06 - $13.0M '07 - $13.5M Plus his agent is Scott Boras. I'll take a pass. Just seems like Aaron's power numbers have been very Orlando Cabrera-like now that MLB is keeping a close eye on what players are putting in their bodies.

QUOTE(the People's Champ @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 05:37 PM) I'm so glad we got rid of Jagglio. Seeing Andruw Jones last night made me remember how close we were to trading Jaggs for him. He'd look great in CF for us.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 07:55 PM) Maybe I'm missing something, but why exactly would Colorado want Byrnes? Because they are clueless. Must be the thin air.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 07:49 PM) I, like most Chicago White Sox fans, was enamored with Bobby Jenks' first relief appearance. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to see the goods from him. My question to you all is: Will Jenks survive KW's trades as a Chicago White Sox, and if so, will he close for us in 2006? I just have a feeling he's going to be special. Tough call. I don't think we've seen enough of him to make a decision. He could become another Dotel or another Farnsworth . BTW Steve, great quote from a great flick.

What would you do if the Sox won the World Series?

I would go to work very earlier and take a crap on our Cub fan manager's desk. -
Mark Redman: Pirates Could Deal Him RotoWire.com Staff - RotoWire.com Sunday, July 10, 2005 Update: The Pirates are leaning toward trading Redman by the July 31 non-waiver trading deadline, the Beaver County Times reports. Recommendation: He could become a nice source for wins should he get traded to a contender. Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston and Texas were among the teams who scouted Redman's last start, and the Chicago White Sox and Florida are thought to have strong interest in trading for him. I suggested getting him a few weeks ago and was laughed off the board. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/colum...i-sportsnew-hed

QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 07:13 AM) "I could probably play defense but not hit.'' So what else is new?

QUOTE(Yoda @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 09:02 PM) Carl is a definite key as to why the Sox are 28 games over .500. It is just hard for Ozzie to have both Carl and Frank in the lineup cause if he does have them both, he is going to have to give Pods or Dye some rest. And IMO, Pods is an everyday player and Dye has been very hot since the weather has gone up. How about having Carl in CF for a couple of times? Aaron hasn’t showed much offensively. If you give aaron the day off you need to have pods in cf and carl in lf.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 08:57 PM) With all that being said, if it comes down to signing Carl or Kong, buh bye Kong. Konerko's just nothing but a HR or nothing guy to me anymore (I know today's the exception). I just don't see that fitting the style of ball we're playing. Of course, we still hit HRs, but I don't want to it to be all we rely on. Carl seems he can do the small things and still hit the occasional HR in a minute amount of playing time. Signing Kong next year would be a waste of money. He'll demand a lot of money and he's a 1 tool player. He rarely hits to right field anymore, can't run, pops up like it's going out of style and hits awful with RISP. Keep that money and use it to bolster the pitching staff. Have Dye play 1st. He can start in spring training next year. Carl can play RF next year.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 08:54 PM) A Comparison Carl Everett vs. Paul Konerko -Carl Everett has 2 less RBI's in 65 less AB's -Carl Everett hits .339 w/ RISP; Paul Konerko hits .222 w/ RISP -Carl Everett has 2 less RBI's w/ 25 less AB's w/ RISP -Carl Everett hits .391 w/ RISP & 2 outs; Paul Konerko hits .136 w/ RISP & 2 outs Carl Everett's a clutch mutha. More proof that someone else should be batting 4th. Coin toss for me between Dye and Jurassic.

You're right about that. He has been very clutch and brings intensity to this team. I really hope Kenny doesn't include Carl in any deals to tweak the team. I can see him as a catalyst in the post season.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 07:50 PM) Quick question. How many more times are we going to see Walker again this year? I want to say none, but I have a feeling we'll see him at least one more time. Ideally we'll see him again when he pitches for an opponent (meaning we trade his sorry ass). More realistically we'll see him for the Sept call-ups.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 07:40 PM) El Duque pitched 4 innings today giving up 4 hits and 1 run Marte pitched 1.2 innings giving up 4 hits and 1 run with 1 BB and 1 K and 1 WP Sounds like El Duque did alright. Marte on the other hand.... Is there a reason that they made the switch after today's game instead of on Thursday morning? Maybe Marte could have gotten a little more work in over the next few days? But I don't know jack about the minors. Maybe they're not playing during the break also??
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 07:24 PM) El Duque, Gload, Marte? That's what I'm hearing. El Duque should be called up for the 1st game against the Tigers on Monday. The positives on the sweep: - Bye-bye Kevin Walker, Wille Harris and Bobby Jenks. - The team has a reason to keep playing hard day in and day out. No cake walk into the post season. An 11 or 12 game lead into the break might have given some of these guys too much of a cushion. I want to see this team bust ass until the final game. Teams that coast in don't seem to do as well in post season play. - Getting swept also magnified some of our weaknesses. KW will have more reason to go out and tweak this team. Lets face it we need more help in the pen, another reliable starter and one more bat. BTW - YIPPEE!! My 100th post!

QUOTE(forrestg @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 06:30 PM) WAS there a reason Crede, and dye didn't play.. I would've put my best team on the field to win not the final game but the series. I was pleasantly surprized by TImo getting a hit and Konerko finally showing why he's an all star.. I don't get taking out the most effective pitcher Politte after doing his job he can go longer than an inning and a 1/3.. All star Homework for Ozzie: We need someone I don't care who that can strike out the opponents Cotts, Viscaiano, and the rest of the staff get 2 strikes on someone and can't get the job done. Ask the whitesox hitters what bad pitches and pitches they swing badly at so they can throw similar pitches to our opponents in the second half. Otherwise good luck Apparently Crede has soreness in his back. He blows anyway. I still have my Eric Chavez voodoo shrine going. If I keep praying and chanting maybe he will come.
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 06:28 PM) I forgot: Rowand - Stick that needle back in your ass, you need it. Widger - No magic left. Vizcaino - Nothing's changed. Is it me or is Aaron's numbers among the lowest among center fielders in the league? Would be nice to get a little more production. I will give him props for his defense though.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) We really have missed Marte during the last 10 games or so. He's been hit or miss.

This is f***ing pathetic. Nice momentum into the break.
