  1. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 09:28 PM) If we can go 20-3 in the remaining games, all we need Detroit to do is go worse than 11-10 for us to take the division. Wow! That's all that needs to happen?!?! Is it too late to get playoff tickets???
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 09:27 PM) Flowers coming back to earth. But still, a .788 OPS with this many AB's is more than almost anyone would have projected when AJ went down. He looks like Pujols compared to our opening day DH.
  3. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 09:25 PM) So when we are mathmatically eliminated are you going to still have hope that maybe someone got the standings wrong. Or maybe that we can get a handicap for having Dunn and Rios in the lineup for most of the year.
  4. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 09:22 PM) I know its a big hole....but maybe the momentum from today can help us get back in the race. Yeah maybe.
  5. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 05:07 PM) Cop-outs galore from the usual suspects around here. Fine, guys. The players are all to blame; Ozzie is NEVER to blame for ANYTHING. If he makes an idiotic managerial decision, he is not responsible for it... ever. This is what you guys are alluding to. Ozzie has a lack of talent? Sure, but that amall amount of talent sitting on the bench while Dunn bats 4th or 5th is unforgivable. And this is just one example out of ENDLESS examples I could use. A "lack of talent" doesn't mean there's nothing the manager could screw up; clearly some of you have not been paying attention to a large amount of posts in the topic and are just too stubborn to bother because you love and defend Ozzie to a tee for some bizarre reason. There's really nothing to even like about the guy at this point. 1) Ozzie tells it like it is. 2) He will go to Florida and win multiple titles while we have some boring manager. 3) My god
  6. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 12:30 PM) I wouldn't even watch a game on TV if that were to happen. But don't worry, I'd still post regularly here. Heh. Same here. And I doubt that would happen. There'd be a serious backlash from season ticket holders.
  7. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 11:54 AM) A struggling team was on a roll for a week before getting trounced by the class of the division. I was just thinking, it is amazing this is a second place team. How much talent to you have to start with to play this crappy and be a second place team? Yeah $125,000,000 of talent. Don't you mean 3rd place in a terrible division?
  8. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 11:33 AM) First, the manager controls the use of the bullpen, the order of the lineup, benching or starting players and in game strategies. To imply that X is a small percentage is unbelievably ignorant. Second, in this organization we have no clue what the overall strategy of the team is. KW will get his way one year (Dunn) and Ozzie will get his way another year (insert any s***ty grinder player here). Please post more in this forum.
  9. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 11:28 AM) That was then and this is now type thing. That's baseball don't you agree? That made no sense whatsoever.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 10:28 AM) It would still be nice to try the Elf out with everyday at bats so that next year's manager has seen him in a quasi-everyday role for the month of Sept. Agreed. The only thing I would complain about is that Ozzie isn't rotating everyone into games throughout this last month.
  11. People are really complaining about lineups now? The season is over. Who cares who's batting cleanup? Might as well give Dunn at bats to hopefully give him something to build off of going into next year. The pressure is completely off at this point.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 12:09 AM) Curb is just killing it this season! I loved the Bill Buckner/Mookie Wilson stuff.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 01:32 AM) But what about the times it works when he leaves Crain in too long and Crain gets the lefty out? Nobody ever says squat when it works. And it does work. That's the one thing you will never understand and you've proven it time and time again. If Ozzie were to bring in Frasor in the 9th instead of Santos in a 1 run game to pitch to Migueal Cabrera and 1st base was open (man on 3rd) you would somehow think it was a good idea if they actually pitched to Cabrera and miraculously got an out. That would be considered a boneheaded managerial decision by anyone with half a brain but you would praise Ozzie if this one time it worked against the odds. More often than not, bringing in a terrible pitcher when you have better options and then to pitch to the opponent's deadliest hitter will likely result in the opponent getting a key hit and beating you. I don't understand why you never seem to get this. To you, correlation equals causation. Frasor got the out so that means Ozzie made a great move. Not even Hawk, Stoney or any other analyst/expert would agree with you.
  14. Fire Ozzie and make Dunn the new coach. Might as well put him to use and it will get him out of the lineup.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 10:26 PM) I doubt it. Even in softball the mercy rule would have been in order. 26 unanswered runs in a row for Detroit. Fire Don Cooper. We need to clean house. Get rid of them all.
  16. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 10:23 PM) I haven't done so in awhile, but I'm listening to the post-game show tonight. I have to hear Rongey talk about this. It'll be comedy gold.
  17. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 10:20 PM) The only sliver of hope we have left is if the Tigers team charter f***ing explodes. Like someone else mentioned, it would have to fly into the Cleveland charter for us to have any hope.
  18. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 10:17 PM) I don't. The Tigers may have a 5 game losing streak left. (yeah pipe dream, I know) They play Cleveland next. If they sweep Cleveland then you have to tip your hat. Wow. You honestly think there's a sliver of hope and we'll make the playoffs? Are you posting from a mental ward?
  19. LOL And to think this buffoon was talking contract extension the other day.
  20. The phone I've been waiting for is finally coming out for Sprint.
  21. Ladies and gentlemen, the 2011 Central division champs...the Detroit Tigers.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 12:53 PM) At least Rios isn't batting cleanup. That said...He should not be in the lineup at all. Penny is the one guy in MLB that Rios actually owns.
