QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 2, 2011 -> 01:46 AM) Did you see the Tribune poll. The MAJORITY of fans either like him or want him to stay another year. You do realize that's not a scientific poll, right? One person can vote multiple times...at home, on their work computer, on their mobile device.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 06:20 PM) That brings up the question of why AJP was sent to AAA to rehab when he could have been with the Sox. If AJ was here I would have taken my chances with him pinch hitting over Dunn. Why would you PH for Lillibridge in the first place? He leads the entire team in HRs in August and rarely plays. Plus, he homered off of Nathan last time he faced him. And to top it off, he hit a HR earlier in the game. The fact that you don't get any of that and are still looking for a reason to PH for him makes it easier to understand why you back up Ozzie so often.

QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 03:17 PM) From Jayson Stark's ESPN article: "How many players in the history of the American League have had 100 more strikeouts than hits in a season? Uh, none, of course. And the only guy to do it in any league was Mark Reynolds (211-99) last year in Arizona. So this is a huge September for Dunn -- no matter how much he does (or doesn't) play." Dunn has 157 K's and only 60 hits. LOL. Don't tell Lemon44. He thinks PHing Dunn in the 9th inning in a close game is a good idea.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 03:13 PM) I don't even know what to say to this... Despicable if true.

No mention of September call-ups anywhere?

QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 02:32 PM) Earl Weaver, considered by many one of the best mangers of all time, relied on ptching, defense, and sat back and waited for the 3 run homer. I don't agree with everything OG does but many people (not saying you) seem to think, no matter what Ozzie does is wrong. If he would have let Lillibridge bat and strike out, I'm sure some would have been saying Dunn should have been up there. Really?

Also, do Harry's laundry and walk his dogs.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 11:17 AM) Yeah, I'm all for firing him now. But I won't pull that "THEY WON '05 IN SPITE OF OZZIE" bulls***. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 11:19 AM) I agree. I think it's quite possible he's not as good at his job now as he was back then. Loud mouth personalities as coaches only work for a couple of years before the team tunes you out. (See: Scott Skiles)

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 10:25 AM) The funny thing was I saw it coming I said to the guy I was watching the game with " do you think Ozzie will put Dunn up here" as sort of a half joke. My mind had already processed 1) Ozzie prefers veterans 2) Dunn is LH, pitcher is RH, Lillibridge is RH and 3) despite his very good August stats has been nothing more than a defensive replacement the few games prior to his start . A second after I asked before my friend could answer the camera switched to Dunn in the on deck circle. At that point I blurted out " No way " !!! Then I saw things in the game thread about Lillibridge had homered off Nathan last time the Sox played the Twins which I had forgotten and RH's hit Nathan better which I also was unaware of but surely a ML manager should know and at least have at his fingertips from advanced stats and/or coaches. Ozzie Bevington doesn't believe in stats. It's all about his gut.

Per Mark Gonzalez: Brent Lillibridge led the Sox with six home runs in August. Thank goodness Ozzie PH for him in the 9th....and with one of the biggest busts of all time. -

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 04:33 PM) Unlike a pitcher, however, you can minimize the impact of a bad bat by not batting them 4th. Is there a single manager other than Ozzie that would put Rios in the #4 hole right now? -

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 04:21 PM) I said that before SMH -
QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 04:20 PM) Ozzie saying Rios was swinging the bat pretty good in the dugout in the postgame presser. For sure. I even saw urine dripping from Nathan's pants.

Anyone listening to Rongey? Curious what stupid excuses he's giving for this one. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 04:11 PM) Guys, the clean-up hitter position is just one spot in the order...it won't make or break the team. -

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 04:09 PM) Just watched "Homer at the Bat" episode of the Simpsons the other day, Burns' move to PH Homer for Darryl Strawberry (who hit 9 HR's that day) because Homer was a righty reminded me so much of Ozzie. Good call. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 04:09 PM) I still can't get over the fact that Lillibridge homered off of Nathan less than a month ago, and he was still removed. Nathan's gotten hit much harder by righties this year as well. I am convinced Ozzie is trying to sabotage this team. -
Nice batting lineup from Ozzie today. Quite effective. That Peavy kid is pretty awesome too.

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 03:57 PM) Shouldn't it be f***ING obvious to our manager that Dayan should be hitting in the 4 slot? It's obvious to everyone in the world except Ozzie and Marty34. -

I loathe Ozzie Guillen. What an idiot.
