  1. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 29, 2011 -> 07:41 PM) This happened over a month ago, but I only just stumbled on it. Tom Aldredge passed away. He was one of my favorite character actors. He was in a ton of stuff, most notably recently as Carmela's father on the Sopranos and Nucky's father on Boardwalk Empire. Darn. I liked him too.
  2. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 01:28 PM) Gotta bench at least one guy who's been playing well lately. It's always a great strategy to put in one of your worst hitters in the cleanup spot.
  3. LOL and SMH at Rios hitting 4th again. f*** you Ozzie.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 01:03 PM) I would have preferred to have the fates of Ronnie and Vic reversed, I think...but in the end, the fate left for Vic might be worse for him personally than what Ronnie was left to face. I'd definitely agree with the bolded. I feel that the series would have been even better if they stopped it a season or 2 earlier. Overall it was solid but it was a little tedious in some of the mid to later seasons.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 12:39 PM) Finished up The Shield last night. Good series. Glad I decided to watch it. Interesting ending to it all. I thought the finale was pretty solid.
  6. It certainly isn't out of the realm of possibilities.
  7. QUOTE (tonyho7476 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 11:08 AM) I'm wearing my Ozzie jersey tonight! If I were attending the game I'd challenge you to a duel.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 11:02 AM) Let me ask you this, Sqwert... Considering what a buffoon most of you think Ozzie is, both in his treatment of players and the way he manages a ballgame, how can you fairly evaluate KW's performance when the manager of this team has such an effect on the product he puts on the field? That's a fair question. I'd be more willing to give him another year without Ozzie to see how the team responds.
  9. Lets be honest. They both suck and need to go.
  10. QUOTE (tonyho7476 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 10:04 AM) I feel that if Ozzie is given the right talent, like a lot of managers, he can win. He's had some ridiculously talented teams while he's been here.
  11. I've barely been following the team in recent weeks. Who's our long reliever these days in case Zach falters?
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 09:54 AM) you are right, putting the worst hitter in the lineup, and second worst hitter in the league, at the most crucial rbi position in the lineup is much better. and for the record, morel and beckham would be better options than rios. i somewhat agree with you that spacing the holes out is better than bunching them, but rios at cleanup is a f***ing travesty, as evidenced by his "production" last night No kidding. If you back up that decision then your opinion doesn't count anymore in my book.
  13. QUOTE (tonyho7476 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 09:48 AM) Getting rid of Kenny seems like the move this off-season, assuming we fall on our faces, and don't make the playoffs. I'm willing to give Ozzie another year. Besides, we have Rick Hahn ready to take over. For some reason, I still like Ozzie....I think because he puts a face on our franchise...although I realize a lot of people don't like that face?!? I just don't get it. If you were to list all the pros vs cons for keeping Ozzie I am certain the cons would be a much longer list.
  14. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 09:44 AM) I was surprised it wasn't posted already. As far as batting Rios 4th, you have more outs in that lineup than him and maybe it's best you don't bat them - Rios, Morel, Beckham - back-to-back-to back. Is there any boneheaded decision by Ozzie that you wouldn't rationalize?
  15. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 09:39 AM) Ozzie was completely contradicting himself yesterday. In one breath he was saying that he blames myself for the team failing, yet in the next breath he was saying he wouldn't have done anything different because there wasn't anything he could have done differently. It's not possible for both of those things to be true. He's channeling Terry Bevington.
  16. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 09:14 AM) Dayan Viciedo once had more RBI in one swing than Adam Dunn has had in his last 73 at bats. Oh wait that one is real. That is truly depressing.

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 06:30 AM) Has anyone stuck with WEEDS? I stopped after third episode. Wondering if it's worth a marathon on demand if nothing else is on. I stopped watching after last year's finale. I probably should have done that a year or 2 earlier.
  18. This is sort of a last hurrah for this team. JR paid a lot of money to this squad to get it done this year. We are probably going to go into a semi-rebuilding phase in 2012 since we'll be losing any number of key players like Danks, Thornton, Quentin, etc. The division was there for the taking. Do we really think having guys like Viciedo milling around in Charlotte was the best strategy once it was clear our offense needed dire help? We needed him up here sooner and we needed Dunn and Rios to hit lower and play less often. This was clearly a make or break year for this team.
  19. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 29, 2011 -> 03:28 PM) Isn't that obvious after how he hit last year , his hitting this year at Charlotte before the thumb injury and how bad Dunn and Rios have been ? It's obvious to 98% of the people that follow this team. No use arguing with the other 2%.

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 29, 2011 -> 03:05 PM) They could cut 2 or 3 storylines and nobody would care. Even the main storyline is pretty lame.
