They're 0.5 games ahead of both the Angels and Rays.
Having the 4th best record in the AL on August 24th is still impressive.

When I read that I pictured Kenny Powers.
Haha! Good call on that one. I re-read it imagining his voice and it was even funnier.
This is the first time since 1984 that I haven't gone to a game in person, not counting a rain out I had a ticket for in April. Nothing that this team has done this year will push me to go buy a ticket before the season is up. Having Thome sitting on the bench or DHing won't change anything either.

Wow, Stan. I always like your posts, but this one is so f***ing good. Honestly, one of the best posts I've seen this year and in my whole time here.
Agreed

So we let a 21-year old phenom waste away at AAA for months when he could've made a difference in the standings, yet we're trying to acquire a 42-year old DH with a little over a month left in the season and our playoff hopes all but done?
What a bunch of sorry ass busters running the show on the south side.

I bought the tickets in April. I've purchased tickets every year since I graduated high school (2001). This is the first such phone call I've ever received.
You better act fast before all of the playoff tickets are gone!

I took an iq test when I was a kid. It was like 134. I have no idea if that's what my iq still is or how accurate it was.
Mad Magazine IQ tests don't count.

Yes Im sorry that I havent given up on the team yet....even though we still are in the hunt.
Some of you guys are starting to portray Cub-like delusional optimism. I just don't seen anything about this team that exudes "Championship caliber".

As opposed to playing for the Yankees/Red Sox/Phillies/Brewers/Braves who are locks for the playoffs and actually have a chance to make it to the World Series. Yes, it is a drag in comparison.
Who cares if we're a .500 team. It's still early in the season.
Just my luck. Got my car back after work yesterday from the body shop (hail damage repairs) and the forecast shows that we might get more hail today. WTF
Watched "Splice" last night, starring Adrien Brody. I liked the idea of the film but pretty poor execution. I think 85% of the budget went to special effects and the remainder went to signing Brody. The script and supporting cast were lousy.

A decent read up on Exit through the Gift Shop. The article is good but read the comment section, John Shorney nails it. I dont see how anyone can think otherwise.
My goodness. Is John Shorney actually Banksy?
