What say you?
-
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 03:35 PM) Man, you and ptatc might be the only two people on Earth who think that's correct. Don't forget the 1989 Brewers.
-
Sheesh, iamshack....what more evidence do you need to show you that the reason we suck at home is because of the fans? Talk about conclusive evidence.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 02:59 PM) Ptatc has tried multiple times to do just that. Everyone just seems to ignore it. Everything sounded extremely anecdotal as far as I gathered. he didn't say how many or who he actually talked to and what specifically was discussed. How you turned that into "fans booing is the reason we suck at home" is beyond me.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 02:57 PM) I see. What players think the effect is, apparently doesn't actually matter. That makes sense, because baseball is played on OOTP instead of the field somewhere. Show me some evidence that the entire team was asked how the fan reactions affect their play at home. Heck, show me 2 or 3 players' reactions.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 02:50 PM) Apparently actual player reactions isn't a fact? No. What the hell does that even mean? Did ptac talk to each player individually and interview them? What are the quantifiable results of these interviews? Why are the pitchers performing worse when they aren't being booed? Carlos isn't being booed so why are his numbers worse? Why is Rios playing better at home even though he's getting booed? Why is AJ playing better at home while getting booed on the road? Explain the s***ty home record before June when no one was getting booed.

QUOTE (sunofgold @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 02:49 PM) Maybe Vizquel should play/start a little bit more? We still have a chance in our division. Maybe Vizquel's experience should be considered. Didn't we go on a nice run last year when Vizquel pretty much took over Teahen's starting job? And Vizquel could handle batting second. I am not giving up on Morel for the future. Not saying that he will be a guaranteed success but he deserves more time in the future. At least, his defense is good. However, we have to put out our best team right now. 3rd base is kinda a hole right now (for our offense) The difference between those 2 players is not going to make much difference in the grand scheme of things.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 02:47 PM) It is better than just pulling something out of your ass. Actually it isn't. I have provided several facts that disprove this idiotic theory of yours.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 02:45 PM) And most are wrong. Working at a university I find that to be the case most often. Most people take a little bit of information and perceive it to mean whatever they want. Instead of getting all of the information and allowing everything to form a a more inclusive picture. The problem is you really have no quantifiable information to prove anything. Hanging out in the locker room does not prove a thing.

QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 02:37 PM) Wouldn't allowing unlimited contributions help the economy? How so? What effect will that money have on jobs or the economy? -
QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 02:35 PM) Am I seriously the only person who thinks this means nothing and is just randomization? No. Most people would agree with you.
-
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 02:21 PM) C'mon dude, when someone says "who's running that team" you don't think it's a shot at the "manager" of that team? Sorry. I put my Soxbadger cap on for a second.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 02:21 PM) I thought everyone on this website was a millionaire? Aren't you? Of course. Why do you think I sounded so excited?
-
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 02:10 PM) I have to agree, Bobby V was out of line calling out Ozzie like that. It's not like the team is doing a nosedive like the Pirates, nor is there any kind of clubhouse revolt going on. He didn't mention Ozzie. Maybe he was referring to the GM, the team leader(s) (i.e., players), or even ownership.
-
This is great news to all of the millionaires on this site!

QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 01:52 PM) Don't forget to do it out in the middle of a room where everyone else can see them and the focus is on them. Also make an announcement before hand so everyone knows that person will be out there alone. Such a perfect analogy. One profession is the kind where thousands of people pay to literally watch you perform your job while the ones you are comparing it to are typically jobs done in solitude.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 01:48 PM) So who is going to let me berate them at work to test out and see if this theory holds any water? And by berate you mean boo for 7 seconds, approximately 4 times per week, right?
-
QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 01:33 PM) This is not a black and white variable that you can apply to everyone in every situation like so many like to do. All I'm saying is that if spent any amount of time in a MLB clubhouse, you would know that the fans can do do effect players which in turn can effect their play. But they didn't start booing until June. So you're telling me the team just sucked for some mysterious reason in April and May, was about to completely turn things around but the fans stopped that from occurring because they started to occasionally boo?
-
QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 01:30 PM) because he is a@# who enjoys that kind of thing. Most people in life aren't happy to make others miserable, he seems to enjoy it. Not only are you a medical doctor but you're also an online shrink! Go figure. Perhaps Rios is the same way since he performs better when booed.
-
QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 01:29 PM) As long as the team they are playing was winning the boos wouldn't be as bad and it wouldn't effect them as much. However, this doesn't apply to just those guys. All players are effecting to some extent. The only team you listed that is losing is the Mets. I'm sure if we looked at the team, there would be players in the same situation. Rios was effected by the fans in Toronto, he didn't even need to go to a high pressure environment to fold. Why does Rios have better numbers at home if he's getting booed?
-
QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 01:26 PM) i read the post. And while I agree it isn't the only determining factor, your implying it doesn't effect their play, which is wrong. I wonder why AJ isn't hitless on the road since they boo him in every at bat wherever he goes.
-
If only fans didn't start booing 3 months into a horrific season (with regards to expectations). The team was about to go on an absolute tear out of nowhere but hearing 2 of the worst players in the game being occasionally booed stymied that magical turnaround.
-
QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 01:09 PM) For you to think that it doesn't effect them as mutli-million dollar prima donnas is laughable. Too bad the facts don't jive with your outlandish theory. Again: - Team ERA is better on the road even though the pitching staff isn't being booed - One of the 2 players being booed at (Rios) is actually putting up better numbers at home - Booing didn't start until around June. The team has sucked prior to the booing. But I guess any excuse to absolve the players and management is a good one.

At least right-wingers in the UK/Europe don't hide their racism. This guy is the British National Party Chairman and Member of the European Parliament for the North West region.
