QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 09:59 AM) Not to rehash the argument, but please tell me how a baseball player writing "gay" on a baseball field hurt someone. It's been discussed ad nauseum so go back and re-read the thread.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 09:56 AM) despite the absolutely harmless and insignificant act that started it all. LOL Coming from a heterosexual. "Of course it's harmless because it didn't bother me personally!"

Nobody No one is capable of clicking on this s***ty team

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 09:42 AM) I have no doubt this was for press, otherwise why would this be public? Press for what? To sell tickets to this event?
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 09:41 AM) Bulls***. He wanted the press and some money. And he got both. My god you are cynical. SMH

QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 09:12 AM) Promotion to 1st Lieutenant today. Nice little pay raise (especially when combined with the two year mark that I hit on the 29th), and I'll escape the "butter bar stigma". Woohoo! Congrats!!

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 06:41 PM) Do not forget the Nike gym shoes man. Gotta have the shoes. Maybe we should have a panel...sort of like a death panel but for poor people. Going forward all poor people will have to take every purchase they make and run it by the "poor panel" to make sure it fits in line with their lifestyle of poverty. Decent gyms shoes? NO! Cell phone? NO!

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 08:55 AM) Why does acknowledging that you're facing a tough pitcher mean you should tip your cap? Because that's what tipping your cap means. You couldn't get the job done because the pitcher you faced was very good.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 08:47 AM) Do I need to bump the hyperbole thread? Of course not. Just admit that the guy had some decent stuff. This wasn't an 89 mph junkballer. Huh? How is that hyperbole? You just listed why we should, in fact, tip our cap because he had good stuff. What other definition is there for "tipping your cap" when it doesn't apply to a scenario where the opposing pitcher pitched a great game? I think you're being overly sensitive here.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 08:36 AM) For once...the rookie we were facing actually had some legit stuff. He was bringing a 95+ mph fastball most of the night and working guys inside. What you could really see also was that guys like Quentin, the Stealth Elf had at bats where they fouled off a bunch of pitches that they were very close on. The guy had just enough late sinking on his fastball that even if they timed things perfectly, they coudln't square up the pitch, so they wound up fouling it off somewhere. This time, give at least some legit credit to the kid. So what you're basically saying is that we should just tip our cap.

I don't know why you guys bother with greg. I posted this in another thread to him and it still holds true. You will never change his opinion on Ozzie:

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 09:45 PM) So many people love to surrender. I'm dumbfounded that there are still people optimistic about this team.
-
QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 09:46 PM) Oh, and fire Greg Walker, too!!!! Why? What does he have to do with this abysmal offense?
-
Sometimes you just have to tip your cap. Like almost 5 times per week.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 08:51 PM) Ozzie needs to go. He's totally mismanaged this inning. The most important thing managing in MLB is managing your pitching staff and this inning he has been about as poor as you can get. Sure fire him but them he'll go to Miami and win 14 titles and we'll have Cora be our next manager. Then we're all going to complain how he sucks. You have to blame the players for not making the plays in this inning.

I see our offense has shown up once again. Too bad there's no room for a hot hitting Viciedo in this fantastic offense.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 04:51 PM) Please. I'm not assuming that they're buying the latest $3000 tv, but let's not pretend they're getting hand me down electronics from 20 years ago either. I'd love to see your thorough research on this matter. How many homes have you personally inspected?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 04:49 PM) Jenks believes people are poor because they deserve to be poor--if they would only work harder or make the right decisions ie not use drugs or have kids at a young age, then American Meritocracy would lift them all from poverty. Nevermind that the single parent working three jobs at minimum wage just to get by invariably busts their ass more than any of us do, as evidenced by our frequent daytime SoxTalk posting. She's just making dumb decisions like owning TV's and refrigerators and ceiling fans and basking in the luxury of having both an oven and a stove! eta: lol, perfect timing.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 04:46 PM) I do. . .with four hydrogens attached. Don't you? Let me ask Balta Nye, the science guy.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 04:43 PM) Ah yes, back to the what's "cheap" argument. I forgot that TV's, video game consoles, cell phones - thousands of dollars - are cheap and necessary to function in society. In the grand scheme of things they are cheap. If you have zero chance of going to college and having a successful life then what's the harm in a $200 video game console to make your difficult life a tiny bit more bearable?

I think it's time everyone re-read the title of this thread.... I find it maddening that this hasn't been addressed by our bone-headed management. Just look at our dreadful offense on a daily basis and convince me that he's not needed. WTF
-
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 04:15 PM) I'm only about 6 months into doing the vegetarian thing, and I can tell you first-hand I have been responsible for a whole lot of carbon emission associated with eating beans and cheese. You fart carbon?
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 03:00 PM) I don't get it. What's "bi-partisan" about that proposal? We've got a Democrat in the White House and a Democrat Senate, and we're going to get a hard-right austerity plan so that the GOP will allow the country to pay its bills. I'm starting to question that.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 03:44 PM) I only pulled that one because he always makes me feel guilty about the carbon emissions associated with eating meat. Sorry. I don't mean to intentionally do that.
