  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 09:32 AM) Can't wait for their list of glass ceiling zingers to be hacked and posted to wikileaks. "And I can't help but notice that we have a literal glass ceiling above us now. Well, as Willy Wonka once did, let me step into my glass elevator, and let the glass shards trump up trickle down to the floor!" LMAO
  2. Where will HRC be tonight when they call it?
  3. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 09:08 AM) My polling place had open tables with no dividers or privacy and some nosy jerk was looking at your ballot as you inserted it into the machine. My wife and I reported it, we were told they were given dividers, but they weren't using them. I would have spit in his eye.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 01:29 PM) Is that the guy who said computers can't store 650k emails yesterday? Honestly, no clue.
  5. From @kurteichenwald Contributing editor, Vanity Fair; senior writer, Newsweek: See his timeline to read through a laundry list of why Trump is a lying piece of garbage.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 10:51 AM) I think the answer is pretty obvious. The White Sox had the 28th prime time TV ratings in MLB this year (Torotno not counted same way because different country). For a 78-84 win season, they had the 2nd worst TV ratings in baseball - only Oakland was worse. That follows a 2015 season where the White Sox had the worst TV ratings in baseball. So basically, can we be worse than last or second to last in the league in TV ratings? No. It's fundamentally impossible to be worse than last. Aside from the people on this board, there is no one left watching this team. Holy crap. I knew it was bad, but this bad? Makes me reconsider the notion of them moving if the team was ever sold.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 09:46 AM) Yah, let's trade our 2 best assets who are vastly underpaid for an extremely overpaid player..... I stopped reading after the bolded, but I guess it depends on who the "combo of young players is", but this is never going to happen. It's a trade that would guarantee the Cubs winning at least 2 more championships in the next 3 years. I'm sure Jerry would approve that in a heartbeat.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 09:19 AM) When the Sale happens (pun intended) attendance drops will accelerate. Fans may say that they want a rebuild, but they won't support it. Fans are barely supporting as it is. Would there be a noticeable difference?
  9. ^Expecting the audience laughing towards the end a la an SNL skit.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 08:43 AM) Just more proof the Hillary email found on Weiner's computer letter, was a politically motivated act, and was totally unnecessary, all the emails turned out to be duplicates or personal emails. Edward Snowden showed how that could be determined in minutes. . But I read an article that says she is hiding something and all of this looks bad. There was a guy on Rush Limbaugh's show that went into all sorts of details on why this is so shady. Let me ask you, do you think that she will be effective for her 8 years while her daughter gets political experience or will she be indicted and go to prison? I just don't see how anyone can vote for her as she is the worst candidate ever. I think Trump is awful too but she is on another level. I will likely just write in Ozzie Guillen since he knows how to get people excited.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 5, 2016 -> 08:40 PM) You are that big an Obama fan? Wow. The economy says otherwise. If we could only go back to the day before he was elected, when the economy was humming along.
  12. QUOTE (The Grinder @ Nov 5, 2016 -> 02:24 PM) Thanks I feel better, I was starting to think I had convoluted thinking, now I know I'm not the lone ranger Not by a long shot. A large number of longtime Soxtalk folks were on WSI at some point. We all had reason to abandon them.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 5, 2016 -> 02:09 PM) I don't know why some don't consider a third option ... a write in candidate or Johnson or that other guy who is running. Given two horrendous choices, I go for a write in. Using my same transportation analogy, a pogo stick would be the 3rd option (3rd party candidate/write-in).
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 5, 2016 -> 12:22 PM) To the experts on here, do you think Hillary will be a one-term president because of health issues? Or will she be all in for the eight year term I have speculated upon (with you know who getting experience in politics to replace her). One day you tell us how she'll likely be arrested the day after getting elected, the next day you're concerned she'll serve 8 years. Make up your mind.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 5, 2016 -> 12:33 PM) Make a poll on here and you'll see how many will admit to loving Hillary and the idea of 8 years of Hillary. I voted for her but my support is tepid. Let's say I need a new way to get work and my choices are a 1986 Mazda with a number of issues (Hillary) vs. having one of those guys from Mad Max making me hold on to one of those 25 foot swaying poles while he's driving 100mph with people shooting arrows at me (Trump). Was a pretty easy choice given the options.
  16. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 09:19 PM) You must not have paid too much attention during the 2005 season. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 09:23 PM) Are you serious Greg? You have really never heard this song before? They only played it 12 million times in 2005. Cut him some slack.
  17. QUOTE (juddling @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 02:21 PM) Dear God....enough with all the over-the-top hyperbole about the whole thing. A rain delay isn't 'tears from heaven'.....it's a f***ing rain shower...same one that passed through chicago the day before Now I'm seeing pics from parade of a couple Cubs players....of course the sun shining down on them is "from the heavens' GMAFB I'm not going to tell you how to feel but I'm just going to post 200 times that what we witnessed was likely the greatest event in human history. Why you're not continuously sobbing with joy is beyond me. I still have chills up my spine about what happened and will likely read everything ever written about this Cubs team and save all the newspaper clippings. Also, I am a die hard Sox fan.
  18. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 01:07 PM) Where they win 2 more titles? That may or may not happen. I think the point is that casual fans across the country will not automatically root for them going forward as there is nothing special about them anymore.
  19. QUOTE (Reddy @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 10:39 AM) But... You can't separate context. It's there. It's impacting every player and fan and coach. Taking anything without context is, in my view, meaningless. Context MAKES the thing. A team of superstars making over 3 times more money than a team full of no-namers, squeaks by even though they were huge favorites. Plus most of the games were not competitive. So memorable.
  20. QUOTE (Reddy @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 10:06 AM) My newest Onion article: WHITE SOX FANS MAKE LIST OF BETTER WORLD SERIES WINNERS THAN THE CUBS Seriously dude. Plenty of room left on Sons of Ivy and other Cubs message boards.
  21. Mets-Red Sox in '86 was way better than this series as well.
  22. The Kirk Gibson Dodgers as David vs. Oakland's Goliath was better IMO.
  23. You're obviously not going to get much sympathy here with your views on the Cubs. Not sure why you keep adding fuel to the fire.
  24. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 09:46 AM) Four of the 7 games of the greatest World Series ever had deficits of 4 runs or more. It took a while, but I finally caught the troll act. Cut him some slack. His brand new silk Cubs thong is just making him giddy.
