A drink called "Four" with wormwood oil in it (think Absynthe) got really big around these parts for a couple of months. My buddy and I dropped like $75 for 50 cans and a bunch of us drank a lot of them. We didn't think they were having that much of an effect... but the next morning we looked at a lot of weird pictures we took and we were acting like psychopaths, breaking s*** and going outside in our undewear and s*** haha, didn't even remember it. That morning we were also puking. So yeah, these types of drinks can be fun.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 04:16 PM) Reid? Nice and forgiving? LOL. I said "to seem", not "to be". -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 04:24 PM) You have no idea how badly I wanted to say Surge. I miss Surge. Those commercials were awesome. SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGE!!! Seriously though, my buddy and I used to get a 12 pack of Surge each weekend night and stay up all night playing NHL 96 up to Goldeneye. Those were the days.

Let's un-pin this non-news already.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 04:20 PM) lol, I thought of the movie "Outside Providence" after reading this(the funeral for Drugs) I love that movie.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 04:18 PM) Ok, I'm never getting the water from Arby's after hearing that story. You misunderstood it. The kid obviously filled the water cup with Mountain Dew, and when the lady asked why it was green, he had a quick, funny, brilliant comeback. I'll go on record and say I absolutely adore a beef & cheddar from Arby's. I don't know what all you whining girls are complaining about. EDIT: Wite brings up good points. It could have been Vault or Mello Yello... hell, maybe even Surge!

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 04:16 PM) Orlando Hernandez threw the best damn inning in postseason history. I’ll hold to that belief no matter how many standout performances Beckett has, or Garza, or whatever. Why? Because I love that 2005 team that much. ex-f*ckin-zactly And Carl Everett didn't believe in dinosaurs AND he was the starting DH for the 2005 World Champion Chicago White Sox. He will never be forgotten. Crazy Carl... I loved that f***.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 04:09 PM) for f***'s sake, I won't forget Ryan Meaux, and he's never pitched in the majors ever He was an incredible, incredible man-child.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 04:09 PM) yeah itll still be hot I'd prefer to go with "bonerific". Yeah. Gordon Beckham's first extra base hit in a White Sox hat helmet will be bonerific and it will come in Glendale, Arizona.

Just so everyone knows, I was pointing out Pujols comments, not saying I agreed with them. He definitely was the best player in the NL and without him his team might have been the worst in baseball. Thusly he was deserving.
-
I think I'm going to vomit. I look at an MVP as, "who scares the other team the most?" When Pujols came to the plate, teams were f***ed. Same with Morneau. Sure, the Twins didn't win the division, but they came as close as you can behind two bats and a bunch of over-worked arms. When Morneau came up, you knew you were in trouble. Teams game-planned around him. Pedroia was the 3rd to 7th scariest bat on his team. He's probably the worst MVP I've seen in my lifetime. I'd rather it have gone to Youkilis than Pedroia.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 04:03 PM) They wear the uniforms of the big league club in the AFL. He's had several down there. well, the jersey and pants and everything...no Sox hat, so he can get his first extra base hit in a Sox hat helmet in that stadium Works for me.

QUOTE (Jeremy @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 02:15 PM) This is precisely what I mean when I talk about people overly romanticizing every last member of that team. Virtually every member of a World Series team makes some sort of contribution in the regular season or the playoffs. That doesn't make all of them good. That doesn't mean any deal to acquire one of them will always be justifiable. Everett was mediocre at best - as I said I believe he was the worst regular on that team. I don't see why we need to worship him simply because as a somewhat competent starter on a World Series team he inevitably made some good plays at times. I'd rather just call a spade a spade and instead cherish the best players on that team, who were the true heros. I'm 25, I've seen the White Sox win one World Series in my lifetime... and chances are I'll see that and maybe a few others... if I'm lucky a handful, if I'm really lucky, they'll win a ton. I'll be damned if I won't worship every player on that team, the team that did something I wasn't sure I'd ever see. Something many folks on the North Side may never see. Carl Everett was a big piece of the best White Sox team probably in franchise history. I'll be damned if I'm going to ignore his contributions, or the contributions of a player such as Willie Harris, or Orlando Hernandez. Guess what? El Duque had a 5.12 era in 2005, but I'll be damned if he didn't make 3 of the biggest outs that entire season. Should I not worship him, either?
-
He also failed to make an error in the 22 games he played in the field (mostly when Big Frank was hitting homeruns at an astronomical rate). Anyone who could forget Carl Everett's value to the 2005 White Sox, or rather, the fact that he was on the team at all, just wasn't paying much attention. That's sad.

Current Roster-2009 Potential Career Milestones

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 12:12 PM) Well, knightni already pointed out that they go inside the quotes about half the time. Right... the half the time that it's grammatically correct! -
QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 03:39 PM) They seem to want every trade to workout where they rape the other team of young talent just like they did with the Bedard trade. Yeah, word is that Peter Angelos is a real son of a b**** and refuses to give up anyone half-way talented without getting the world back.

Gordon Beckham will get his first extra-base hit in a White Sox uniform in that stadium.

Official 2008-2009 NHL Thread
Steve9347 replied to whitesoxbrian's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
That was a terrible game to base opinions on, but it's clear the sporadic playing time is effecting Huet. Ugh, Dale Tallon. We were one year from being free of bad goaltender contracts, and now we may have another. Maybe Huet just needs the playing time, but this franchise really needs to look into developing its own netminder (and please, no Crawford comments, the guy is not going to be an option). -

Steve9347 replied to BigSqwert's topic in The Filibuster
I'm going to agree with bmags. They wouldn't base this decision upon 3 races that are up in the air, two of which seem to be going Republican. This is an effort to seem bi-partisan and nice and forgiving. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 07:26 AM) You do not know what you're talking about. If you like the Elder Scrolls games by Bethesda, you'll probably like Fallout. There's plenty of game play and story in this game. Whaaaaaat? Don't you know that any opinion that differs from Carl's is wrong?
-
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 03:32 PM) I would much rather have Beckham play a year at triple-a at 2b. Why not go get a 1 year stop gap in Brian Roberts while were waiting for him to develop. Because Baltimore has been wanting way too much for Roberts for a few years now, and nothing's changed.
