It's tough to call, but for pure enjoyment. 1a) Forgetting Sarah Marshall 1b) Pineapple Express 3) Superbad 4) Knocked Up 5) 40-year Old Virgin But it's so hard to pick. I could and will continue to watch these movies over and over. However, Pineapple Express was so over the top awesome, It jumps to the top rather quickly. It hurt I laughed so hard.

Oh my Lord, Pineapple Express was absolutely hilarious. Honestly, I laughed so hard in that movie it hurt... multiple times.

The Milkman made my list!

QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 11:35 AM) Pablo Ozuna embodies the ideal that the 2005 team was supposed to be. Hard-nosed, hard working, production despite a lack of top talent, clutch, good defender, do anything for victory. Grinder. The crazy thing is, he was even better in 2006.

I can tell you all one thing, I'm sure not gaining any fans in this thread. I'll drop it. Although Sonic, I think you can find better words than "retarded" to use on the message boards. What is this, 2nd grade recess?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 08:17 AM) Before we move on to the next lists... Can I ask one small favor? If you don't like the picks of people's favorite players, keep it to yourself. This is a completely subjective list based on nothing else other than who people like. It is not going to have any rhyme or reason, or make any sense to some. Just because you don't like a player, or he doesn't have big stats, doesn't mean that someone else doesn't as well. Please keep the discussions to the player, and things about him. K, tnx. Dude, the whole point of this is to talk about them. Asking people not to react would basically take the whole meaning of a message board away. I don't think that's a good call at all.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 11:05 AM) The point I was making is, there IS no argument. You cannot argue about someone's favorite anything. Trying to do so is just arguing to argue. I'm an Ehren Wassermann fan. I think he's a good guy, I like what he brings to the table in terms of ability, and I think he'll eventually settle into being a decent middle reliever. I also love his back story - hard not to like a guy who made it to the majors from an open tryout. He's the anti-prospect - not drafted out of college, never looked at as a prospect, yet succeeded at every level on his way up anyway. Now, Ehren is no great stuff statistically this year, and is struggling. So am I an idiot because I like the guy? Its all subjective. You making declarative statements that some player has no place on a "favorites" list is missing the point of the list and the thread. NO, you're not an idiot because you like the guy. You would be ridiculous if you ranked him as your #2 favorite all-time white sox though. That's just my opinion, and I know you and Heads both are not idiots.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 11:05 AM) FAVORITE is the same. Again, favorite can happen by stuff off the field. Glen Kozlowski lived in Wildwood and would hang out Gages Lake Beach with a bunch of us. He wasn't a top NFL receiver, in fact made his living knocking people down on specialty teams. He was easily one of my all-time favorite Bears players. Tell me how that is wrong? I agree, that arguing favorite is stupid. However, I will point this out. You make all these things known, that's cool. Ozzie Guillen is one of my favorites because I met him at Target when I was like 10 and he signed a baseball for me. He then went on to manage the White Sox to the World Series, but had he not, he'd still be on my list. However, all I'm trying to point out is, Heads has no back story for BA. BA didnt hang out at Gages Lake Beach with him. BA didn't shake his hand in a Kaybee Toys, BA did nothing special to deserve this, and by that one vote found his way onto the Top 50. I don't understand the vote, and I don't understand why it's so hard to understand that I think his vote for BA as #2, despite it being opinion, was still really dumb and takes away from the legitimacy of this entire thing. The points awarded for getting a #2 vote directly screw up the entire process, and one list adversely effects the entire thing. I guess I should just get over it, but the only reasoning I see for voting for BA is because he was a top prospect once, even if he sucks. It just seems stupid, ridiculously stupid, for him to be the #2 favorite White Sox on anyone's list who doesn't have an ounce of a story about BA other than he's that guy, who hit some homeruns in a meaningless game in Seattle, and largley disappointed an entire fanbase by being immature and not figuring out how to hit on the MLB level.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 10:58 AM) What is your favorite food of all time? Now let's pick apart the food nutritional stats, why you picked it. Who is your favorite girlfriend? Post a picture, tell us why. See if everyone agrees. So shocked you are going this route. You think baseball players are directly comparable to food and girlfriends. There's no point in talking about these type of subjects to you.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 10:55 AM) I can see why a utility type player like Ozuna or Graffanino might make the list. They add a little spark here or there, occasionally make a clutch hit, etc. I honestly am dumbfounded on BA as an overall top all time favorite. He's literally done nothing on or off the field. That's what I'm saying. It's fine to have him on your top 50. However, he made Soxtalk's Top 50 largely based on one person putting him at #2. NUMBER TWO.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 10:15 AM) Lack of fandom? What a joke. If you want to discuss who is better or best, use stats, all that, great. But saying someone is less of a "fan" because they like a player who isn't a Hall of Famer is just pigheaded. Do you tell people they are less of a sports fan because they follow Team X? Do you tell people they are less of a man because of what beer they prefer to drink? Hell, I was a big Ross Gload fan when he was with the team, so what? You have completely missed the point of these threads. Is Gload your #2 favorite White Sox of all time? I see I can't win this argument, but there is no reasoning for BA to be #2 on Heads' list other than he's a goofy bastard and picked him to be different.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 09:31 AM) Holy f***. How the hell hard is it to get, people? It's not about PERFORMANCE, it's about who your favorite is and why!!! But that's just it, there's no reasoning behind it. For BA to be #2 on any list of favorite players (and I know favorite), just show's lack of judgement. With no back story, which there is none, BA could not have proven in his very sporadic playing time enough to be #2 on anyone's list. It just shows a complete lack of fandom.

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 11:54 PM) I will be in Maui in a few week for a trip. Anyone know of any bars to watch sports games also, how do you watch MLB and NFL games?? are games tape delayed or on at the butt crack of dawn? Thanks for your help What part of Maui? If it's Kaanapali, you could go to Lahaina and hit up the Bubba Gump which played games or the Hard Rock Cafe. However, when I went there for my honeymoon, the famous Bears comeback against the Cardinals was happening in october of 06, and we went to a joint called Johnny Burger, right in Kaanapali in front of the Hyatt (where we stayed). The burgers were great, there were plenty of tvs, and the booz was flowing. However, don't spend too much of your time indoors. If you need any tips for a nice Honeymoon in Maui, I've done it and can clue you in on the best of the best.

QUOTE (Steff @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 03:30 PM) Take it to HR. Seriously. There was a group like this at the job I left before I had Bri and no one formally complained. At one point one of the gang members heard people talking about them in the lunch room and she filed a complaint, hired a lawyer and got a payday for having to work in a "hostile work environment". The rest followed suit but I left before it was resolved - and I would bet high it was one of the reasons 80+ people were laid off shortly after. These days it takes a paper trail a mile long to get some companies to take action. Taking it to HR is probably the worst thing you can do. Corporations like to know you can deal with things and that you're part of the team. Going to HR will not only result in the bigwigs in your office finding out that you complained, and put you out there at risk. Do your job, because ratting people out for any reason other than something truly serious. The company will take care of those three when layoffs come around. For anyone else who thinks moves such as the one suggested above are a good idea (which they are not), please read Corporate Confidential. It will open your eyes. EDIT: I see the problem solved itself. However, read the above book so you can find out more times than not, HR is not on your side.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 10:49 AM) Have at it... "Here, you take it. You've got a better chance of getting them out than I do anyway."

QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 11:36 PM) Ever watch the movie Rudy? Anyone else on that team have a movie made about them? f***ed in the head? To use playing ability as a critieria and rank AJ above Fisk is hilarious. You know, the guy in the HoF, lifesize statue at US Cellular, Retired White Sox number?? Rudy wasn't a first rounder.
-
QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 11:27 PM) So I do not believe playing ability and fan favorite is synonymous. And a 4th outfielder is almost tailor made for fan favorite. The little guy who could. Against the odds. The underdog. Maybe if he was a late rounder, we're talking about a first rounder. he's not an underdog he's a f*** up washout.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 11:22 PM) I don't want to speak for Heads, but bulls***. Alex is about a month older than me, so he has probably been following the team closely 6-7 years. It's not about best, or performance, but who is your favorite. If I made a list, Brian would probably be Top 10. I love his attitude, he seems like is very well liked in the clubhouse now, is fantastic defensively, and for me, he has always been very accommodating when I have spoke to him in Spring Training. Most times, that shouldn't sway voting, but in this case, it should. It's who is your FAVORITE, not best. Well then you're f***ed in the Heads22. And I get the idea of the list... my favorite was AJ Pierzynski. He, however, has been a regular starter for years and a key member of the 05 Championship team, not a backup who never lived up to his hype. Might as well put Joe Borchard... I mean, he even compares him to Aaron Rowand, who had better be #1 on his list if emulating Rowand was worthy of #2 or else it's just stupid. EDIT: This does not mean I dislike Alex, he and I get along great, but BA #2 I had to call that out.
-
Heads just looking for attention putting BA. Him being your number 2, which he can't really be, just cries not giving a s*** about the list and just wanting your name shown up.
-
I'll never forget the picture of him (and I think Foulke??) carrying the pink lunchboxes.
