  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 11:15 AM) There has GOT to be a 3B floating through the wire somewhere. Sanchez from Pitt is having a down year and can play 3B, Tejada? Someone? To be 100% honest, I know he's not much at the plate, but after watching the last handful of games with Uribe at 3B, I'll gladly take him. Our problem has not been offense lately, and Uribe does the best to help our pitchers.
  2. roosevelt to 290 to 94 to 31st exit (f*** tha traffic) about 40 minutes in relatively heavy traffic, 25 if im clear.
  3. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 09:06 AM) I meant to say he was never really a power pitcher for us. Through in the early 90's, used a lot offspead pitches and so on. But yes you were right Freddy was a power pitcher back with Seattle. Freddy Garcia did not pitch in the early 90s. If you mean the early 2000s, he indeed came up and was one of the best pitchers in the AL through his first few seasons. Then balance issues hurt his value, and he corrected those right before the Sox acquired him and was great in 2005. 2006 saw a drastic decline in velocity.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 08:44 AM) Hmmm....where would he fit in the rotation? Are you going to try to pawn Vazquez off on someone, or Contreras? Seeing the health/age issues with Jose and the wild inconsistency of Vazquez, who would want them? Yes, there are probably 10 teams that would take Vazquez right now...but we wouldn't get Chris B. Young in return, that's for sure. And Garcia with just his off-speed pitches seems like a recipe for disaster. He had two great starts down the stretch in 06, when we were already out of the race essentially, but I'm not in a rush to bring the Scorpion King back. Um, he solidifies #5 if he's better than Contreras, or he works out of the bullpen and upgrades us there. A good arm is a good arm, and when throwing in the upper 80s, Freddy has a good arm. I would never say, "let's add Freddy and move Vazquez", I for one haven't given up on the most talented arm in our rotation. Freddy would supply SP insurance and another option to run out there if Contreras indeed is unhealthy or even to give our other starters a break.
  5. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 08:51 AM) The high road? They are the ones benefitting, so of course they won't say anything. It's not like McCain's camp didn't start the whole thing. They already dirtied their hands.
  6. I'm so SHOCKED that the Russians are doping! http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=08...;show_article=1
  7. QUOTE (BearSox @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 10:44 PM) And my response to that is... who the hell gives a crap besides you? Me. His post contained exactly what I would have wanted to read... reaction. Again Obama's camp takes the high road.

    Films Thread

If it were 3 years ago I'd be at Pineapple Express tonight, but I will settle for Friday. I cannot wait for this movie.
  9. The White Sox need to be first in line for him. He might actually get a decent payday.
  10. This was the game of the year. We bailed our pitching out, now it's time to go on a run.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 08:31 PM) Or how about we play Griffey Jr. against LHP when he sucks against them while Anderson's been looking good at the plate? Yeah... that was in my original post.
  12. Let's trade for Ken Griffey, Jr. because Paul Konerko is struggling. He will fix our issues with Pauly's dead bat, and when we face lefties he can get a day off. Oh wait, we did that, and that was the plan... So what happened? Since the trade Konerko's played 4/5 games, while Griffey is in against lefties when we have Swish on the bench who is a switch hitter. I just don't get it sometimes.
  13. They left out 224 which some friends up north have.
  14. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 12:02 AM) That's a top notch setup right there. And of all places to go in a natural disaster, why not come to Soxtalk? Exactly.
  15. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 07:36 PM) My electricity better not go out. Anyone else around DuPage County have sirens or warnings. Yup, we got mad sirens out here, and then the power immediately went out. It's still out, but thankfully I have a laptop and the wireless verizon internet.
  16. link I REALLY hope he comes out of this one alright...
  17. I'm only posting this because I have nothing against the guy. He would not have been a good starter in the AL, in my opinion, and this thread is not a "we shouldn't have traded him" thread. However, I saw this interesting tidbit today... Why not move the kid into the rotation? He's pitched in Texas and the Cell over his first few seasons, and though Cincy's no picnic, the lineups in the NL are far more forgiving than the AL. I hope Masset goes on to have a fine career in the NL, I do think he will be quite good. So, this thread is for following his exploits as he tries to become a key member of the Reds' starting rotation this year.
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 03:26 PM) Has it occurred to you that when you load up this thread with SOOOOOO much Obama promotional material, you are actually repelling voters from him? People here are actually tiring of Obama all the more because of your posts. What you are doing is counterproductive. How about some discussion? How about some pieces about his policy statements, and how they might help the country? That's quite the sweeping comment. If his posts deter someone from voting for Obama, that's just hilarious.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) Actually, Fields still does have a lot of value. I guess scouts haven't seen him play this year. Is this a joke? Believe it or not, you don't know more than scouts. Perhaps teams are shying away from a AAA 3B who turns 26 in 5 months and still strike out every other at-bat. I said it months ago that we wouldn't get much if we dealt Josh, because he's not as good as most want to believe.
  20. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 10:02 AM) Goodell was quoted last night saying he was going to wait to reinstate him until monday because Green Bay and Favre were still discussing options. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3516300 He's been re-instated by Commissioner Goodell.
  21. I'll tell ya what though, if you would've told me Ken Griffey, Jr. would be hitting 7th for us this season, I'd say we're looking pretty pretty good.
