  1. This old man needs to go to some bar and vent there... not on public radio.
  2. QUOTE (Texsox @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 06:45 AM) I'm kinda surprised Fraser was so low. I also see a trend for current, which always happens with these. Well yeah, the Dick Van Dyke show only showed up on two lists (mine was one of them). However, what can ya do?
  3. QUOTE (SuperSteve @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 11:47 PM) Your original post complains about fans having fun at the game and then cheering for their team when they tie the game up. You're upset Cubs fans had fun. Baseball is entertainment for most people. Not eveybody sits on a message board and reads up on baseball. What the f***? You're making things up now. It doesn't say that at all.
  4. QUOTE (SuperSteve @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 10:41 PM) We all know many very knowledgable Cubs fans and many ignorant Sox fans, just take some less time being envious and enjoy yourself. My original post had nothing to do with envy. If you read it, you'll see I was disgusted with "the norm" at Wrigley being to throw things on the field and at fans of the opposing team. This is not normal in any other stadium I've been too, and I've been to a lot of them. My co-workers ribbing me because the Cubs swept the Sox? That's fine, I wear my Soxdom on my sleeve and the way they played I deserved it. Throwing beer at other people, littering the field, yelling at little kids in opposing team's jersies? That's a rarity saved for Wrigley Field.
  5. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 03:40 PM) While Marty is the wildcard for the season right now, if a commitment is made to Hossa, it's going to be for 5-6 years. Unless Havlat wins the MVP this season, he won't be back with the Hawks next year. Hell, he may not even stick around the whole season this year. I guess what I'm saying is if Hossa is signed, while this year is insanely important, it's about the long haul. I was just explaining this to Slav. Marty has all the talent in the world, but I'm not counting on him even for next year. This team has to go forward assuming no Havlat and whatever we get is bonus. I'd be shocked to see him on this team come the 09-10 season.
  6. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 03:09 PM) Hawks resign Ladd. http://blackhawks.nhl.com/team/app/?servic...rticleid=366824 I was just coming here to post that.
  7. I think you all will be SHOCKED when you see the Hawks land Hossa. If he becomes a free agent he will become a Blackhawk. Rocky wants to make a splash, he wants the Hawks to seem like a real team, and this is his first chance to show it. DT will make the offer if allowed.

    If you want to flat out enjoy yourself for just under two hours, go rent "Be Kind Rewind." It's rated PG-13, but I see no reason why a family couldn't enjoy it together. The wife and I rented it this weekend, and it's just flat out enjoyable. Not only are the film re-enectments hilarious, but the movie also has a great story. It helps that I adore Jack Black, but you'll like this one a lot even if you don't. I'll probably give it another spin before returning it, it's that good.

    QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 11:42 AM) I want to see Get Smart for no other reason than I couldn't think of a better 99 than Steve Carrell. He is the originals guys twin or something. 99 is Maxwell Smart's wife in the series and played by the delectable Anne Hathaway in the new film. I knew what you meant, but still had to do it.
  10. I was at the game on Friday, and saw one of the sickest displays of humanity in sports. I always wanted to give Cubs fans their fair shake... "Don't lump them together as mostly idiots," I'd think to myself. So throughout the game, it's just in fact a beer garden. Half the fans are more occupied with their next beer than what's on the field. Hardly anyone was paying attention to the game. Sure enough though, when those b2b homers were hit in the 7th off Dotel, they were "fans" once again. The disturbing part of the afternoon was when Aramis hit the walk-off HR. The "Cub fans" who adore Wrigley and call it a shrine launch beers onto the field. Fully clad in White Sox jersey and hat, I'm surprised I didn't get pelted with a beer or two myself, but an innocent 30 or so year old woman got drenched because she had Sox gear on... I can't help but to think had the Cubs followed the law and stopped serving at the 7th inning stretch, maybe every moron in the outfield would not have had a full beer to launch after the Cubs win. They were selling beers right up until that pitch was hit. All I can say is, sweep or not, I'm proud to say I'm a Sox fan, and not a Cubs fan today.
  11. QUOTE (lord chas @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 09:23 PM) I was sitting in the left field bleachers and security was constantly telling sox and cub fans to sit down. I found this very odd as it is a sporting event and you should be allowed to support your team. I have been to a ton of other parks and have never heard of this before. Did anyone else have security hassle them this weekend? I was in LF on Friday and also found this odd. You get up to cheer (for the first 7 innings on Friday I actually had a reason) and some old turd comes over to tell you to sit down. It's the bleachers in a dump for crying out loud.
  12. What you saw this weekend was the result of two teams that get most of their wins at home squaring off... the hometeam swept. Next weekend will be quite different.
  13. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 03:30 PM) Not a chance in hell. Not only would Zito not agree to give up guaranteed money but the MLBPA would NEVER allow it. Exactly. I don't care how much SF would hate me, I'm not giving back any money if I'm him.
  14. I thought it was classless of them to dump gatorade on the court with time remaining. Whatever, f*** Boston, let's get this draft started.
  15. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 07:53 PM) I could have done without Tiger acting up after each bad shot. Like he didn't know the cameras would be on him after them, too. I mean give him credit, but I can do without the ridiculous antics. Agreed. I was embarrassed for him when he yelled, "God Dammit!" after screwing up a shot and had to be censored. Who is he Happy Gilmore?
  16. "I knew I shouldn't have agreed to be on Jackass!"

    Iron Man indeed was awesome.
  18. They just interviewed him on MJH. I love that man.
  19. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 09:03 AM) Awesome. A columnist giving his opinion on the situation. No real facts provided. What was that supposed to prove exactly? That's my point. If you're looking for solid proof that he'll be signed, you'll have to contact Dr. Emmit Brown. Until then, either side shouldn't claim to know what's going to happen. There's a salary cap for a reason, and it's going to cause the Pens some problems.
  20. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 15, 2008 -> 11:43 PM) I have to prove to you why I think they will sign Malkin, and not Sykora???? Are you kidding me? Malkin is the definition of a franchise player. He is a 21 year old 100 point player. It's a chicken-egg debate, but does Crosby make Malkin the player he is, or does Evgeni make Crosby the player he is? Plus http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburgh...=rss&feed=8 As more of the article states, the rumors that have been floating around is if anything, they try and trade him before they have to sign him, but that is hardly "letting him walk". Anything else? Hey Captain know-it-all... don't be so sure. http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburgh...s/s_572854.html
