Official 2008-2009 NHL Thread

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 09:30 PM) Same here. Besides that, I've heard there were huge cocaine issues in the Ottawa locker room, but I'm not sure Redden was involved. Give me Liles and Malone/Rolston and I'm satisfied. Go after Ryan Miller next offseason, and then extend Kane, Toews, and Kane. If only we could have two of him! -
QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 08:13 AM) The man is a legend and I feel lucky to have watched him since he was an amateur. Same.

The Incredible Hulk was quite good, actually. I already knew about the RD Jr appearance, but man did some nerds cheer. Taking the old man to see The Happening tomorrow (his choice). The reviews for it are, simply put, awful.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 09:23 AM) NOTE: I'm not saying this was a bad move, as Kenny got Loiza for nothing and at a cheaper price (right?). Exactly right. We would have been out much more and without our quality defensive backup. As long as Uribe remains a defensive backup, he's pretty valuable to this team right now.

That is an interesting map.

Bulls to hire Vinny Del Negro as coach
Steve9347 replied to thedoctor's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 10, 2008 -> 09:47 AM) Paxon's head has been spinning for over a year now.I could just feel him doubting his own decisions everytime. Paxson's head has been spinning because he's looking behind him as Reinsdorf screws everything up. JR demanded the Bulls sign Ben Wallace, he blocked the trade for Gasol by refusing to go over the cap, he got too involved in the coach hiring... Paxson is probably going to resign due to JR's over-involvement. As much as JR trusts KW to make his own decision and run the team, is about as far as JR does not trust Pax to do the job himself. It's annnoying, and you can't blame ANY of this on John Paxson. -
I certainly never wanted either one traded or released at their lowest value. There was too much of a track record to think they'd both completely forgotten how to hit the ball. I did want Swish benched for awhile, but that's the extent of my insanity.

QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jun 9, 2008 -> 04:41 PM) Also, Shaun Alexander's downfall is directly related to Steve Hutchinson going to the Vikings. He needs a good line and hopefully, the Bears have improved their line enough that he might be a good pickup. I'd pass on Henry, just because of PR. Signing Shaun Alexander would be great. Split the time with Forte until someone earns the start. There's no clear cut favorite in the North until Favre comes out of retirement, which I actually don't think will happen.

HE GAWN! GOOD RIDDANCE.

This is really really good, because they obviously did this for the White Sox. Jordan comes out of slot and will still get paid, but be easier to deal with... Now getting him in the 7th looks like a HUGE steal. Obviously, if John keeps pitching like he has, at least we won't have a huge issue growing where we worry about signing him long term.

Danks brothers drop douchebag Boras!

Alright, let's get to that Twins BP early and really wear them out so they are in trouble when they leave here as well.

Of the mentioned avialable candidates, he was my favorite choice. Now get those kids in here and focus on the draft. Rose is obviously the guy considering how much Del Negro loved a PG favored system in Phoenix. -
I think we're more susceptible to panic because of how this team imploded last year with most of hte same players. The thing's we need to realize are not to panic, because we actually have a major league short stop and our outfield is much improved, and the most important thing is that our bullpen is good (and probably the best in baseball).

I saw KW macking on some 22 year olds on the club level of John Barleycorn of Schaumburg on Saturday night. I basically informed him of what he already knew: he's the ballsiest GM in the league, and is owed a lot of apologies right now.

QUOTE (JFields27 @ Jun 7, 2008 -> 02:06 PM) In other news .. NHL 09 is gonna be freaking sweet ... they are making a Be A Pro feature .. Read up! http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/sports/nhl...p;mode=previews That'll be a must purchase. Last year's was great, but not having Kane and Toews' face in there was annoying. Let's see if NHL 09 avoids the pitfalls of recent versions where the rosters have weird anomoly's (like a guy who hasn't been on the Hawks nor in the system for 3 years still somewhere within the roster).

Where's this list?

Ozzie Guillen. The man who can start winning streaks just by cursing about imaginary deadlines.

Navarro is classless. You do that after the inning or calmly. You don't facebump your pitcher when you have a catcher's mask on...

QUOTE (joeynach @ Jun 7, 2008 -> 03:48 PM) Any explanations? There is no God?

Regardless, I'm going to all 6 games!

QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 03:26 PM) So is Big Brown a shoo-in, or should I put some money on a roughie in the feature race? Big Brown is a shoo-in. The money is to put down a 1-2 Exacta with Big Brown as the 1 and a couple of other horses finishing 2 (maybe even one long shot).
