  1. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 09:27 PM) Next years White Sox top prospects: 1.) Gordon Beckham 2.) Aaron Poreda 3.) Jordan Danks 4.) Nevin Griffith 5.) Lance Broadway Things are getting much better. After O-Cab walks next year, we'll get even more compensation... The White Sox need to have another draft where they draft some guys who want out of slot money (ala the Danks drafting and Porcello last year)
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 08:38 PM) Hell, I'd give it to him. We need to rebuild our minors. Exactly.
  3. ON THE SCORE THEY JUST REPORTED THAT COLLINS BACKED OUT. The Bulls have done it again!
  4. 2005 good pitching 2008 good pitching Thanks for the research Sherlock!
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 05:32 PM) How can a Blackhawks fan pull for the Red Wings? Critic never ceases to amaze me. Agreed. This is worse than rooting for the Packers as a Bears fan to me.
  6. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 03:06 PM) See Gordon Beckham LIVE!! Tomorrow 11 AM CT ESPN: NCST vs UGA in a Super-Regional Playoff game! That will be DVR'd for sure.
  7. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 03:02 PM) Like I said, college stats should be taken with a grain of salt. Beckham is the better athlete and the more hard-nosed player. From the video I have seen and the games I have watched, Smoak is the much better natural and pure hitter. The ball flies off of his bat. His power easily translates to the pro game. Plus, he has 40+ homerun power from both sides of the plate. However, Beckham's power most likely won't translate to the bigs. He might have a couple 20+ homer season, but I see him sticking in the 15-20 range. His swing has more flaws in it, and I absolutely hate his high leg kick when he swings. This is not to say Beckham is a bad hitter, as he is good. All I am saying is that Smoak is the better hitter overall, and is that impact bat we have lacked in our farm system for so long. Beckham is the better athlete and provides more speed and such. Beckham wasn't a bad pick, but I would have prefered Smoak. Ok, that's an acceptable and well built response. However, Smoak fell to 11 for a reason...
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 02:54 PM) Gordon Beckham actually had better offensive numbers in almost every category than Smoak did in 2008. Check it... Beckham: .397 BA, 24 HR, 65 RBI, 85 R, .781 SLG, .505 OBP Smoak: .383 BA, 23 HR, 72 RBI, 63 R, .757 SLG, .505 OBP And Beckham is a far better overall athlete, able to play multiple positions, probably. So tell me again how it is that Smoak is so much more game-changing than Beckham? Because BearSox says so! He needs not fact nor statistic to back his claim. Just hatred of life itself!
  9. I've never seen a topic that BearSox was happy about. No surprise he's unhappy here. Move on to the next topic you hate man!
  10. This thread is hilarious. So many people who've never seen either player in person with such strong feelings. Beckham is a fine pick and would be one of the most fundamentally sound players on the White Sox RIGHT NOW.
  11. QUOTE (TCQ @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 01:51 PM) Very happy about this SS with some pop Love it. f*** Smoak.
  12. QUOTE (Texsox @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 07:31 AM) As I've been working on my list I realized a similar situation. I appreciate , for example, The Simpsons and South Parks position in TV comedies, but never really liked them too much, not enough to make my top 20. I'm listing my top 20 favorites, I'm not trying to offer some critical approach. I did a mixture. My tops were my favorites, and then I had to include some that I have to admit were revolutionary or just downright unstoppable. I've seen episodes of all that I included though.
  13. The Simpsons has been awful this entire decade... why not extend it a few more years?
  14. Let's chew on that comparison. On paper Rose measures up better than Paul in almost every aspect... ridiculous.
  15. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 10:47 AM) posted this in the Obama thread, but cnn.com has a story from Clinton's camp saying it's not true and she intends to continue That'd be more in line with what that moron has been doing thus far.
  16. This league is pretty ridiculous with the difference between 1st and 9th being 15 games.
  17. QUOTE (JFields27 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 12:23 AM) Maybe the Bulls can sign Arenas hah get the old Arenas and Hughes connection together and draft Beasely ha Gilbert Arenas on the Bulls would be the biggest mistake of Paxson's career. He'll lose you more games than he'll win you...
  18. That game last night was purely enjoyable. The Red Wings definitely might be sluggish tomorrow night with their old legs and the fact that they were already picturing themselves with Lord Stanley's Cup in the air... Pittsburgh scoring so late to tie it, coupled with Fleury standing on his head, just might take the wind out of the proverbial sales. I'd have to think the Pens are going to be highly favored at home, and hopefully they can force a Game 7. Fantastic hockey. Sid the Kid really struggled to establish himself last night though... pretty much a non-factor.
