I wish Swisher would start getting some f***ing hits and stop worrying about the color of his hair.

QUOTE (mreye @ May 23, 2008 -> 08:00 AM) A concert booking that same night? This makes little sense. That's 6:05 ET, right? The game gets ovetr at 9:00 if they're lucky. Everyone's out of there by 9:30/9:45. Does this concert start at 10:00? What about extra innings? -
Poreda named Pitcher of the Week in Carolina League

QUOTE (scenario @ May 20, 2008 -> 12:10 PM) http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/news/ar...b&fext=.jsp Carolina League - Aaron Poreda, Winston-Salem 2-0, 0.69 ERA, 2 G, 2 GS, 13.0 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 7 SO Poreda was flat-out dealing in wins over Lynchburg and Kinston last week. The 2007 first-round Draft pick shut out the Hillcats over six innings, allowing just three hits while striking out five in a 4-2 win. He nearly matched that effort Saturday against the Indians, giving up three runs -- one earned -- and four hits while striking out two in seven innings. Poreda has now won his last four starts for the Warthogs and lowered his ERA to a paltry 2.19 on the season. Still only averaging 6.5 IP over those 2 games... -
I first read about his tribulations in an ESPN.com magazine article like 4 years ago. Something about the fallen hero. He was still addicted and everything. He's one of the best stories and an inspiration to anyone with substance abuse issues.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 22, 2008 -> 05:50 PM) They just have to take Rose. Leader, new era at PG, floor general, playmaker, makes bigs better. They just have to. They will, just listen to this... Paxson's rather lengthly interview with Chad Ford. He dances around but you can tell that Rose is his man... -
Right now I'd put that over under at 125 and probably take the over. I was down in Texas last week and saw this kid first hand. I personally think he's the most talented player in all of baseball when considering all facets of the game. He hit a ball that was still going up as it got to the 2nd deck. He runs like a deer in the outfield and can get to any ball. His speed on the basepaths is ridiculous. Seriously, he's amazing.

They would take Fields for Figgins, and I'd be all for that...

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 22, 2008 -> 11:24 AM) Well, no s*** give me Melo, but what's it going to cost? I'm sure they'd want the pick. I don't think Deng + Tyrus + change will net you what you want, and they sure as hell don't want Gordon with Smith and Iverson on the roster. Deng + Kirk + Tyrus? Maybe... If you could work something like Deng Kirk Tyrus 1st rounder for Melo Camby That'd obviously be ridiculous... leaving us with Camby/Noah - Gooden/Noah - Melo - Gordon/Hughes - Rose -

QUOTE (rangercal @ May 22, 2008 -> 09:08 AM) I hope it means it won't happen. He is injury riddled and his top #'s are not all that much better than what Gooden can do. Wow, quite the Gooden believer eh? That's the most incorrect statement I have ever read... sorry brother! -

I think unless Rose blows out a knee or something freakish happens before the draft, the Bulls are going to take Rose. He'll be the biggest story in the NBA this year (hometown kid reviving the franchise) and hopefully that FORCES Paxson to make some creative moves to get another star in here. Yesterday, on ESPN 1000, the idea of Elton Brand was brought up to Paxson and he just laughed nervously and said, "yeah, he'd be a great player to have, we will pursue all avenues." The likelihood of Brand joining this team is pretty high, and that would set us up for awhile. Noah Brand Deng Hughes/Gordon Rose That's pretty sick. Now, if the Bulls really wanted to get crazy, they could make a double splash and pretty much put themselves within reach of the Celtics once Rose develops a bit... Naoh Brand Deng Redd (Bucks are looking to move him, only problem is convincing Skiles to take some of his old boys, but he looooved Kirk) Rose Just ideas, and I didn't even propose how we'd make them happen both financially and trade-wise, so it's all bulls***. I'm just wishful thinking at this point. -

Take Derrick Rose. Many experts predict he will be better than Chris Paul. That's all I need to hear/read. -
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ May 21, 2008 -> 02:15 PM) Sixth Sense > Unbreakable >>> Signs. Even by M. Knight standards, the ending to Signs was really lame. You are definitely in the minority on that opinion.

QUOTE (rangercal @ May 21, 2008 -> 12:05 PM) With that said, I do not understand the overreaction on your part. That and the fact that the #1 pick will not be dealt regardless of what this team has done in the past. The trade ideas the Knicks fans are coming up with on espn's message boards are priceless. That franchise REALLY wanted Rose. -

QUOTE (rangercal @ May 20, 2008 -> 07:49 PM) I don't care who we draft now! Beasley or Rose it's a win win! ^^ To be honest, I only want Beasley bc I see it as more of instant gratification. Rose will take longer to be an impact player...
