QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 15, 2008 -> 01:06 PM) CQ isn't going anywhere in my fantasy leagues. Luckily I have him in the Soxtalk Keeper league!

Yes, follow suit with these other clubs and sign CQ until he's f***ing 31/32. Make it happen.

What do you think of tonight's batting order?
Steve9347 replied to ObamaKnowsBest's topic in Pale Hose Talk
CQ batting 3rd I like. -
QUOTE (kwolf68 @ May 14, 2008 -> 03:54 PM) I hate the idea of putting slow-footed players in the leadoff spot. I'd rather have a guy who can keep us out of double plays and maybe get into scoring position before the first out is recorded. AJP does none of that. Putting him in the leadoff should quickly be followed by having a midget wearing shorts hit 2nd. But he does get hits. No one else on our team does that. You can't steal first base...

Should fit right in on the North Side.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 14, 2008 -> 03:27 PM) Am I the only one that thinks that en Edwards endorsement right now isn't that big of a deal? Where was he before NC and WV? I mean the race is 99.9% over so who cares. I think that would push it to 100% though...

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 14, 2008 -> 03:41 PM) My point was, look at his performance this year - he already IS the better AJ again. Being the leadoff spot would just reinforce it, as has been alluded to. Yeah, it's a brilliant idea.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 14, 2008 -> 03:23 PM) Steve/NS It obviously isn't ideal to have a slow catcher leading off, especially one who isn't known to draw many walks. However, I actually really like the idea because I think leading off will have essentially the opposite effect it had on Swisher. Swisher is the type of hitter that needs to drive the ball and is most effective when doing so. As a leadoff hitter he became less willing to do such because he really changed his standard approach. However, AJ tends to be most effective when he is actually trying to just get a single and when he slumps it is because he gets too power happy so sticking him in the leadoff spot will force him to spray the ball to all fields (which is a strenght of AJ's) and could very well enable him to post career numbers in both average and obp. I like the idea of CQ in the 3 spot and OC in the two hole as well. I also would have no issue with Dye in the 3 spot, Thome 4, CQ 5, Paulie 6, Swisher, Crede, etc. As far as I'm concerned as long as CQ/Dye are raking they should be in the 3/5 spots of the order with Thome in between them and Konerko providing protection. Paulie should still get good pitches with Swish behind him as well. That's the first thing I thought when I read this... let's get the AJP who used to hit .300 with doubles and didn't worry about power. It could force him to become the better AJP again.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 14, 2008 -> 02:57 PM) Remember when Ozeroo had him penciled in as the number 2 hitter.......... Maybe it would help him focus more, see better pitches and be more selective. The down side is that the line-up may slump and not be as productive...........well that isn't even possible so why not. Because he's the baseball equivalent to stinky s***. -
I don't care what y'all say, those 4 popped collars look badass.

QUOTE (daa84 @ May 14, 2008 -> 02:59 PM) trading konerko or thome before it is too late would require a flux capacitor, a delorean and 1.21 jigawatts What the hell is a jigawatt?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 14, 2008 -> 03:11 PM) What about this lineup... AJP, C CQ, LF JD, RF Thome, DH PK, 1B Swish, CF Crede, 3B Uribe, 2B O-Cab, SS Just one tweak AJP, C O-Cab, SS CQ, LF JD, RF Thome, DH PK, 1B Swish, CF Crede, 3B Uribe, 2B Let CQ bust loose in the 3rd spot. O-Cab, as much as he's sucked huge ass thus far, is still the best bet for the #2 spot, and putting him back there makes the most sense... he's never been a good leadoff hitter.

QUOTE (Brian @ May 14, 2008 -> 02:40 PM) NOW, I have to interject. The fact that filmmakers like the Coen Brothers made this pile of junk, baffles me. The Big Lebowski is without a doubt the most overrated movie of all time, IMO. I have tried to watch it numerous times, and just never get into it. I adore the Big Lebowski.

I think this can be merged with the similar discussion going on in the "IMPOSSIBLE" thread.

QUOTE (soxfan3530 @ May 14, 2008 -> 01:48 PM) I would love to get gordon! Agreed. That'd be swell. Just so long as we don't take Jordan Danks.

QUOTE (Cali @ May 13, 2008 -> 03:10 PM) Not that we didnt know it was coming but abc OFFICIALLY picks up Scrubs for Mid-Season 2009. Mid 2009? We have to wait til next year? Damn.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 14, 2008 -> 11:21 AM) Release Thome? Seriously? I'll bet there are close to 20 other teams that would be willing to take a shot at him on the waiver wire, if nothing else. Hell look no further than Seattle for a team desparate for a player exactly like Thome. We could get players for him, if we really wanted rid of him as an organization. Well, the max teams interested would be 14, since he's strictly a DH at this point. We're one of those teams, so take us off the list. Of those teams, I'd say a good half are covered at DH if not more. Really, it's not that many teams that would take a Jim Thome. I'm sure the Blue Jays would...

QUOTE (Soxy @ May 14, 2008 -> 10:20 AM) Around 3600, but that should go up pretty soon. I think I'm getting an iTunes giftcard for the b-day. Woo! Who needs I-Tunes giftcards when you can download for free?

10,422 This has been a growing compilation since I was 17 years old on my old man's computer. When I went to college, I burned the 5k+ I had aleady acquired to data disc (that was a lot of discs, btw) and put them on another computer. Used a buddies external harddrive to transfer from that next computer to the one I currently have. I just keep downloading new stuff and figure it's always nice to be able to select all the songs and play random through the stereo. Sure, I hate a lot of the s*** or it has gone really really bad, but it's still cool!

QUOTE (HeGone33 @ May 13, 2008 -> 03:46 PM) Thanks for the help! Now is there a bunch of types of cables to choose from, or do I just buy the XBox one? I think the XBOX 360 one is the only one that hooks into the 360 itself. That's the one I have anyway.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 13, 2008 -> 03:12 PM) I'll give it another chance. I abhorred the original Deuce Bigalow the first time I watched it but it really grew on me after a couple viewings. Anchorman is one of the top comedies of all time. Tell me how you feel the 30th time you watch it.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 14, 2008 -> 09:20 AM) Lose one night, its the pitching, next night its the offense. Maybe you guys should blame it on the air quality or something that works both ways. I will never blame this season on the pitching. To be fair, they have been f***ing lights out this year.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 14, 2008 -> 09:16 AM) Quintin is a lone bright spot as A.J. and Dye are above average guys that can help a team win. Quentin

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ May 14, 2008 -> 01:26 AM) how, i wonder, did we score so many runs and have such a great year offensively in 2006, if this team has never had the ability to go opposite field or run bases properly, or get the timely hit.. hmm Thanks for chiming in, KW. The team scored a boatload of runs in the first half of 2006, and went to sleep in the second half. And why does something that happened two seasons ago matter?

I can't believe the Sox are squandering such excellent SP. Here comes another barn burner.
