At least we didn't sign Andruw Jones.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 5, 2008 -> 11:09 AM) It's gotta be Enis, especially since we decided to pass on Randy Moss to get him. Things never really went right with him at any point, from the long holdout to the early knee injury to the putrid 3.3 career rushing average. Benson would have to have another enormously awful year like last season to even start the discussion IMO. You can't really put that argument in there. Enis was drafted 5th, Moss was drafted 21st. If it were Enis 5, Moss 6, it'd make more sense, but many teams passed on Moss.

QUOTE (lostfan @ May 5, 2008 -> 10:35 AM) Ariese Currie is a legend, I heard he had a negative 40 time once. But right after that he sprained his ankle trying to tie his shoes. Fast as f***!

These are really well done. The Ibanez throw was hilarious. However, the idea of Andruw Jones in the Hall makes me want to vomit.

QUOTE (rangercal @ May 5, 2008 -> 09:46 AM) Is Thomas Jones a Bust for having 1 bad year? Why does everyone love AP so much if he had the same average as Benson? And as much as I find myself defending wolfe, you can not defend his numbers. No, and comparing him to Cedric is a joke because Cedric's had more than one bad year. And I have no love for AP, so I don't know where you got that one! Yeah, the O-Line sucked, but Benson's the guy who took himself out of the Superbowl after being told he could play without hurting himself further. He's the biggest bust.

I've liked Webb since he first came up. Cy #2 is in his future.

I love Oz partly because he's certifiably mad

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 5, 2008 -> 06:28 AM) “I don’t think (general manager) Kenny (Williams) is going to put up with this stuff. If they (players) don’t believe they can do it, well, we’re going to find someone that can do it. Haven't we heard this one before? Won't KW just consult with Konerko and Thome and feel the roster is fine? They will hit better than they are right now. Just like last year. -
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 4, 2008 -> 11:25 PM) Phenomenal. My only disappointment with the movie is that Maggie Gyllenhaal plays Rachel Dawes. But then again, I haven't seen the movie, so I could be pleasantly surprised. Ever see "Secretary"? I've been in love with Gyllenhaal ever since.

QUOTE (The Critic @ May 5, 2008 -> 08:58 AM) I was quite disappointed by We Own The Night. I thought it started out okay but deteriorated. Yeah, that movie was dogs***.

QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ May 5, 2008 -> 09:15 AM) Thanks again guys. I ended up getting one online for less than $2. I may be having little threads/questions like this pop up in the coming weeks, as I'm officially making my entry into the real world... Hey man, I'm about a couple of years ahead of you and would be a great source when it comes to purchases for homes as well as mortgages, when it's time to look for a new position, etc. Feel free to PM me with any world questions, because any help helps.

I myself am voting for Benson, because at least Salaam had one good year and McNown showed some flashy signs with Marcus Robinson. Benson never had a distinguished run despite being the 4th overall pick.

Let the voting begin.

Prediction: NC Obama +8 IN Obama +3 Hillary bows out while nodding/clapping, and then everyone talks about the "dream ticket" that will never happen. -

I was watching the NBA Finals videos for the 6 bulls championships over the weekend, and got really nostalgic, so I decided to try to create Michael Jordan in NBA 2k8. Since the creating a player thing is ridiculously weird in NBA 2k8 though, it came out looking dumb. However, there are much nerdier persons than I online, and I managed to find the instructions to creating Jordan. His first game? 43 points (on 50% shooting), 11 boards, and 10 assists en route to being named PoG. This alone has renewed my interest in this game. Since we never got to actually play as Jordan in his heyday due to "MJ in the Windy City" and him being excluded from games, let's just say I'm loving it. It's weird to have him running with Kirk and Joakim though... This lessens the sting of the realization that I just needn't be spending my quality time playing GTA IV anymore. eBay $55 so at least I covered most of my investment.

GTA IV pulls Jack Thompson out of woodwork again

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 5, 2008 -> 08:32 AM) With how much you guys were pumped about this game, I have to say I am stunned to hear B-gt-w and Steve saying that they support this, and even moreso to hear Steve say that he sold the game. And that is not an indictment on either of you I don't really support this goofball and his antics, because entertainment is entertainment and to each his own. I think the onus is on parents. I was just saying, for myself, I think I've outgrown the genre. I shouldn't be embarrassed to play a game in front of my wife. However, that didn't stop me from creating Michael Jordan in NBA 2k8 yesterday! -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 5, 2008 -> 12:12 AM) I will support Jack Thompson on his crusade for once. This game does not deserve to sell, not that his efforts will stop that. I actually sold my copy on eBay on Friday because I realized, "holy crap, I'm 25, and this game is just ridiculous." Sure, it's fun, but I felt like a turd playing that while my wife was in the room, and that's when I realized that I needn't play it anymore. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 5, 2008 -> 08:22 AM) I do let her watch some of the cinematic scenes though or the milder missions since she more or less knows about guns and violence from movies. But I make her leave when the game starts to get graphic. In my time playing the game, I did not encounter a single cinematic moment that wasn't laced with profanity... -
QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ May 4, 2008 -> 09:23 AM) Okay, so I'm moving into first place post-college next week. I'm looking at buying my first HDTV, and I needed a bit of help from the fine folk of Soxtalk. I'm not completely blind to HDTV, as I've had family and roommates with HDTV over the past couple years. I'm currently planning on getting a 40' Samsung LCD. My question is conerning the HDMI cords: The store I'm looking at getting the TV suggests this cord; however, I have found this one online. Is there a difference in these two, outside of the price? You'll be fine with any cable as long as it's under 15'. I've had my 40" Samsung LCD for just over a year now, and it still looks as good or better than any other HDTV out there. Excellent choice.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 4, 2008 -> 09:35 PM) "Little" scare? Taking the team with the best record in the NBA to Game 7 in the 1st round with a losing record is a "little" scare? Yeah, it was a little scare because Atlanta couldn't stay within 30 anytime the games were played in Boston.
