QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 12:15 PM) Weather.com and weather underground report that is overcast, but not presently raining at US Cellular http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findwe...st?query=60616+ Here you go. -
QUOTE (RME JICO @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 11:14 AM) You would rather move a 32 yr old 1B compared to a 38 yr old DH? I would actually move Dye before either of them. Konerko can just shift to DH when Thome's deal is up. You can't get wrapped around the axle about the L/R thing. Just field the best team as possible. I agree. As much as I like Thome, he's only got so much time left.

QUOTE (rangercal @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 11:27 AM) I hope it's CQ As do I.

QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 09:44 AM) Swish, RF OC, SS Thome, DH PK, 1B AJ, C Q, LF Crede, 3B BA, CF Ramirez, 2B Vazquez, SP Two things. I love no Uribe in the lineup. The above is our best possible sans Dye lineup. I also love that Quentin is deeply entrenched as a starter and Ozzie's pulling no bulls*** with him. Talent is talent, and Quentin is definitely talent. -
Things getting worse for Roger Clemens

I think what we have here is someone trying to make a career comeback trying to get her name in the news. -
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Apr 27, 2008 -> 10:23 PM) I'm heartened to see that in this 'slowing economy' that so many young people have enough disposable income to get trashed on beer at a Soxgame. For me to drink enough beer at the Cell to get wasted I would need to take out a loan. People my age are freaking idiots. The pressure to look like you are rolling for some reason has never been higher. Trendy, expensive s*** is seen as a necessity rather than something that you indulge in once in a while. Getting hammered for $100-$200 every Friday/Saturday night is the norm. My friend, who lives in a two bedroom apartment with a guy he barely knows, just bought a 23k Chevy Trailblazer. Great decision, with gas prices where they are... let's not think about saving up for a downpayment on a home, let's buy a freaking Trailblazer. My wife and I cringe when we think of all our friends that blow their money on superfluous s***. I've got two friends who spent more than 5k on Cubs tickets the first day they went on sale just so they could be posers. One of them admittedly so. Seriously, most of my friends have no idea what it is to be responsible financially, and it's depressing. At least my wife and I have it figured out.

QUOTE (almagest @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 12:39 AM) I feel the same way. I can't get into any of the GTAs. I think it's because I have no attention span in that game -- I'll do a mission or two, then wonder how far the bodies will fly if I shoot rockets at people from the top of a building. Or I'll try to drive a car into a police helicopter. By that point I've already wasted an hour. It think that's the point. GTA is so incredible because not even playing the game is a blast. Just cruising and raising hell for hours on end and trying to out do your buddy is half the draw. I have a feeling that GTA IV's storyline is going to be just as entertaining as GTA III's. Seriously, the first time I was transporting the dead body in the trunk of my car from point A to point B and the trunk popped open I laughed so hard. I'll openly admit that the experience died down with Vice City and San Andreas, but it's pretty clear GTA IV is going to be a HUGE step up in realism, gameplay, and overall feel. I can't wait to light up the 40" LCD tomorrow night for a few hours (sorry honey, but you'll have to go to the bedroom for awhile, cuz I'm taking over the living room, lol). There's something about the reality of the games (when playing missions)... you feel the gravity of offing a mob boss, and I hear the murders are ridiculously realistic in GTA IV, unlike the III series where the blood just squirts around like a slasher film. Add to that online play, a map that's 3 times the size as the previous games yet much denser, and you get what is going to be hailed as the best game ever.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 03:03 PM) This is the Sox worst PR nightmare. Crede playing up to his potential. I don't see how that's possible.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 04:16 PM) Chipper has the highest OPS of any 3B in the history of the game. (46 points higher than Schmidt) He's 1st ballot, IMO.

4/25 Gamethread: Sox (12-9) vs Orioles (13-9), 7:11 CSN+

QUOTE (southsidehawkeye @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 04:00 PM) Swish, RF; OC, SS; Thome, DH; PK, 1B; Quentin, LF; Crede, 3B; Ramirez, CF; Uribe, 2B; No Anderson Surprising. However, Seeing Quentin in the 5-spot is a prelude to 09 and beyond. I love him. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 12:13 PM) Something for folks to consider, which is sometimes forgotten in these discussions about keeping or getting rid of players... KW's job is actually not to put the best team on the field. His job is to put the team on the field that puts the most butts in the seats. Now, it happens to be that putting the best players on the field generally leads to the most wins, and most wins generally leads to butts in the seats. But having the "best" players at each position is not in itself the entire story of his job. Why is this important? Two reasons. One, sometimes, the right player for the team isn't necessarily the best player individually. And two, certain players are particularly loved or loathed by the fan base, beyond what their play on the field may indicate. Joe Crede is a HUGE fan favorite, and I guarantee you that will come into play in considerations of future contracts. I don't think you could be more wrong. His job is to put together the best team on the field. It's marketings job to use this team to get the butts in the seats. Better team = more butts, and if it were advantageous to the current team to move Crede, he would. That in itself is a hard sell though.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 11:49 AM) Not really. Wow, I seem to remember half a season spent chanting "re-sign Buehrle" and it being almost inevitable that he was going to be dealt. Must have been another Mark Buehrle who played for the Chicago White Sox.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 10:36 AM) OK, I'll just admit it off the top. I was stupid and bored at work last week and downloaded "gamevance" to get some silly duckhunting game. Wellity wellity, it has put a program that gives occasional pop-ups and search links on text on sites. Luckily it didn't spread and it's not overly annoying or porno or anything. However, when I found it in my programs and tried to move it into the recycle it says access is denied, check if its running or read only or something. Bottom line, anyone have any suggestions on how to get it off my computer. Thanks in advance Spybot: Search and Destroy. Just google it and it'll come up. This program is free and the best available at what it does. You'll be feeling better in no time!

For those of you with Comcast, I've noticed that they hide the CSN+ HD broadcast on Mojo (174), even though it'll show their regularly scheduled programming in the Guide. -
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 08:36 AM) Exactly, and it drives me crazy when Hawk points out lucky hits or "duck snorts" for the oppo team when many of them are a hitter taking what is given and pushing pulls to the opposite field He has pretty much fully abandoned this phrase in favor of "duck farts" because of his commercial that aired in the pre-season. Personally, I miss "duck snorts."

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 24, 2008 -> 09:28 PM) Maybe the worst culprit in terms of being pull happy is Thome. He hasn't hit an opposite field homer this season, and has grounded into the shift on a nightly basis. His homer last night went to left center baby.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 06:45 AM) the article about Fields on sox.com says a LOT about him playing "wherever they need him" and they mention that a few times... maybe they're considering it? I highly doubt "wherever they need him" includes 2B. Outfield, yeah, but he'd be a brutal second baseman. EDIT: OR the next Jeff Kent. That's doubtful though.
