Chisox.com: White Sox reportedly reach deal with Colon

QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 10:05 PM) Signing Colon would be the equivalent to signing El-duque in 2005 IMO. HE came off a couple years of bad injuries but pitched respectable as a 5th starter and won 10 games... When El-duque had his shoulder soreness- McCarthy was ready to come up and pitch. I think Danks being the 6th starter and spending time in triple-a for some seasoning wouldn't be a bad thing. Im all for this move... its a minor risk worth taking. I couldn't agree more. If they do sign Colon (nowhere do I see this confirmed) I think it's a very smart move.

FYI, Ken Rosenthal said that whichever team picks up Bartolo Colon will have a Cy Young contender by May, and he very well could have been the best FA pitcher out there this offseason. Reports are that he turned the corner recently as well.

QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 09:13 PM) If they get rid of Masset for Fatolo, KW has had an offseason to be fired over. 2. Move Garland, a solid #3 SP who is 27 for a 35 y/o SS Well s***, if you want to lie about things that should make it look even worse. Garland = 28 Cabrera = 33 that's a -3 on your age discrepancy.

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 03:20 PM) I think the scoring system needs to get back to how it was. Win nets you 2, lose nets you zero no matter if its an OT loss its still a loss and if it ends in a tie then each get one. Can't get rid of the shootout, it's brought interest up too much. -
QUOTE(whitesox94 @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 04:00 PM) its fine here, but shouldnt this be in the contest sec.? Not really, it's White Sox specific and has a lot of good commentary on the White Sox.

NBA to hold outdoor game in preseason

I hope its really windy so the NBA realizes how lame it is to copy another league's good idea without thinking about the implications wind can have on a jumpshot. -

CWSGuy. The best two sites I use for updated hockey info are SLAM! and THN. These are most definitely not underground or anything, and I'm sure you visit them often, but I think THN is probably the best with hockey analysis, but the true meat and potatoes articles don't come along very often. The article I linked to on David Toews (Jonathan's little brother) a page back was loaded with good information. I guess if you dig on that site you can get the good stuff. I mean seriously, you can't get articles like this anywhere else, just because no one covers hockey like THN. Also, obviously TSN.ca is a great site, especially come Junior championship time. However, getting analysis of NHL players and games beyond what happened and who did it is extremely hard, and it's unfortunate. Wouldn't it be neat to see a hockey player scouted with a 95-98 mph slapshot like you see with pitches? s*** like that would be fun. -
QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 18, 2008 -> 06:58 PM) You did ecstacy? That's the first thing that came to my mind too! I thought that drug was only for teenage girls?

QUOTE(JFields27 @ Feb 18, 2008 -> 03:16 PM) Read Here! Read Here! Hot off the press /done Forsberg -- Not going to sign with a team Just saw that. In other words, "the only club to make an offer we liked was the pathetic franchise from Chicago." Kind of embarrassing, but f*** him, we're still turning the corner and I'll hold out hope for the Redden deal. -

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 18, 2008 -> 10:08 AM) Episode One's guest star Dick Chaney . . . I understand he's not the President, but you'd think the VP could get his name spelled right after 7+ years in office! -
OMG, if you haven't heard it, you need to get your AM dialed up until you do. Hawk debates duck snorts vs. ducks passing gas, and during a casual conversation with a fan calling in uses all of his famous, hilarious play by plays. It's freaking hilarious, hopefully they get it up on the Website soon.

Personally, I think Eric Milton or Freddy would be worth a cheap, incentive laden contract. Colon already rejected the Sox offer, or else he'd be my top pick.

A few things. -The NIU decal on the Blackhawks helmet was a classy move, and one that the previous regime never makes. -Forsberg for 3 years is a bit much, but if the Blackhawks added him to this franchise and he stayed healthy, the playoffs would be a lock. As much as reports want to say the Flyers are a big player, they would need to cut salary before even making a competitive offer. I say if they want Forsberg, we take Simon Gagne (struggling, highly paid, currently concussed but doesn't seem like a big deal) off their hands! This is a 40 goal scorer who's slumping hardcore, but the upside is there. Either player works for me, though Forsberg ups the general interst in this town by a large margin. -Add to that a proposed Nikolai Khabibulin for Wade Redden deal, and you are talking two quality players in, and a guy who has been outplayed by his backup out. That's crazy. I don't see why Ottawa makes this move, Redden is one of the best defensemen in the league on both ends of the ice, and Khabibulin is an overpaid, injured goaltender. They are desperate, but I'd think a better option would come along for them above 'Bulin? IF DT can steal Redden for Khabibulin, its the best move since swapping Mark Bell for Martin Havlat. -Adam Burish: is there another guy in the NHL who seemingly can single-handedly get a stadium going more? And for that fact, his own teammates? This guy is invaluable, and the Blackhawks are lucky to have him patrolling the checking line and going up against the other teams top scoring lines as well as their top enforcers. I love this kid. -Locking up Brent Seabrook for 3 years beyond this one was a wise move. The kid's only 22 and really starting to be a presence on the ice. I think in a year or two he'll be up among the top scoring defensemen in hockey as well. -Martin Havlat: If you trade him now, you are effectively telling the fanbase and myself that you are unwilling to wait out Havlat's injury woes (which he finally seems to be bouncing back from) but will happily sign a guy who has been significantly injured for some time. Seems counterproductive to make a Forsberg/Havlat swap when Havlat's like what, 8 years younger? I think trading Havlat would be a HUGE mistake. If you add Forsberg and Redden to this club, it's starting to get up there talent-wise with some of the big boys in the league. This is the type of team that rightly should be ADDING a player like Havlat, not trading him away. There, that's it... can't wait til the next game. -
I actually came across this shot of the interior of the lecture hall in Cole where it happened. Should give folks who haven't been a visual idea.
