QUOTE(bmags @ Jan 28, 2008 -> 09:43 AM) meet the spartans #1 in the box office. good god. Man. Must be a lot of in-breeding.
  3. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jan 27, 2008 -> 11:11 PM) So I just picked up the 40" Samsung LCD that Steve suggested to me. God this TV kicks ass. So glad I upgraded. My gaming is 10 times better now. Welcome to Heaven my friend.
  4. Sorry, can't seem to find it anywhere. Thought there was a thread about this before but can't find that and the Sox Website doesn't list.
  5. In the three games Tyrus has played 30-plus minutes this season, he's averaging 17 points, 12 boards, two steals and two-plus blocks per game. Though he may be one of the dumbest players in the NBA as far as basketball IQ goes, it seems that Tyrus can be productive when given minutes. Unfortunately, I think the opposition is normally quite productive as well when Tyrus is out there. At this point in this season though, it's time to just give Tyrus the minutes to either build his trade value or to just get him consistent experience; this season will be a waste without getting the kids going.
  6. Thought a nice, positive article on the Sox was nice to see. link
  7. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jan 27, 2008 -> 10:45 AM) Exactly the fastest skater was so much better with the old way. It made no sense what so ever. D. Keith blew away Campbell in his race though so it was nice to see. Yeah, he beat him by like 5 strides yet was somehow ruled to have lost and Campbell was picked as the fastest skater in the East? It made NO sense their little timing bulls***. They need to race the lap next year.
  8. QUOTE(flavum @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 05:53 PM) Fields will wear 22 Josh Podsednik?!
  9. The Young Stars game was fun to watch. Kane needs to cherrypick less! I felt like I was watching a game of rat hockey!
  10. Every team that makes the NFL Playoffs has a chance to play for the championship. Only two teams that are selected by a computer get to play for the championship in college football. If the Giants make it as one of the lower seeds and win it all they earned it and are the legit champions.
  11. Hey my suspicions were right. We drafted a reliever ahead of one of the top pitching prospects in baseball. I don't see how I'll ever be happy with this pick.
  12. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 24, 2008 -> 04:12 PM) Would anyone do Danks / Crede for Linecum for example? In a heartbeat. Send em MacDougal while you're at it.
  13. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 12:58 PM) I had a pretty solid argument with Chris DeLuca via email the other day, he clearly doesnt do much research when he told me 2002 was the best pitching season Buehrle ever had. Why would he ever claim that? It's blatantly obvious that it was 2005 and I'd even take 2001 over 2002.
  14. It's one thing to s***-sling... everyone does. It's another thing for Hillary to s***-sling with false information. It's getting to the point that if she becomes the democratic nominee I'll have to seriously think about voting for a republican (if that's the case please be McCain). The problem is America is filled with idiots who will take Hillary at her word without fact checking. I pray that Obama can win the DEM bid.
  15. QUOTE(bmags @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 12:53 PM) clearly Phil Rogers and his +/- system propelled him to best columnist in Chicago. HAHAHA. That was the dumbest s*** I've ever read. well played.
  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 12:42 PM) 20/10 for me. Maybe you should also be super human. I'll just settle for super cool.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 12:10 PM) Maybe you should check YOUR reading glasses. I don't wear glasses nor reading glasses and have 20/20 vision.
  18. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 11:35 AM) Rick Telander says hi. Yeah. Can't ignore those columns about his lame hall of fame ballot stunts two years in a row. I don't like Telander that much. Obviously everyone's going to have their own opinion anyway, but Telander... Zzzzzzz.
  19. QUOTE(almagest @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 10:49 AM) So who's looking forward to MLB 2K8? Me. 2k's been very straightforward with the fact that last year's game was not close to their goal and this years will be way better.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 11:25 AM) No matter what mistakes they did make, you still have to give the team credit for their behavior during the 2003 tests, and for Frank's behavior in general. I always have wondered whether simply having Frank around the clubhouse might, for the most part, have been enough to keep us clean. Because seriously, do you want to piss off #35? I don't! All hail Frank Thomas. That's for damned sure. You are right too, our entire team refusing piss tests is what got the stronger tests/punishments instilled in the first place. That could have been included in Jay's article...
  21. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 24, 2008 -> 11:14 PM) RE: Ruutu -- it's tough to do anything worth a damn offensively when your partners are Adam Burish and Craig Adams. I have no idea why he's now been pushed to a mucker role -- your completely limiting him (and the team, IMO) by playing him with 'energy' types. Ruutu has the skill-set to score goals -- his hands are pretty good, he can win battles in the corners, he can hold his ground in front of the net and he can skate with the puck without losing it. He also has a pretty good shot. That's my biggest issue with Savard right now -- Ruutu's been pushed behind Rene Borque on the depth chart, and I'd say it's one of the reasons our power play is absolute s*** right now -- nobody on this team besides Ruutu can play competently in front of the net (besides Toews). Bourque certainly doesn't do that. When they were going with Ruutu - Toews - Kane early, Ruutu wasn't scoring goals -- and if you can't score with the two kids on the line, I understand that it's difficult to justify keeping him there. But the line was scoring goals and was, without a doubt, the best line we had going, and despite the lack of point production, I still think Ruutu was a pretty good part of it. I'd say it helped to have Ruutu there because he created space for the two just by hitting anything and everything. This is about the best post I've ever read. The Ruutu situation has perplexed me all season. Ruutu's got talent, sick talent, and production-wise he would do best with a playmaker AND as the focal point of the scoring offense (ie camped in front of the net). Even when he was playing with Toews and Kane he was reduced to the forechecking role while those two were scoring (though they were scoring at a ridiculous level). Even that role is fine for me... The problem with Ruutu (and this isn't really a problem unless of course you're being relegated to 3rd/4th line checking roles) is he's a team player (he'll do whatever he's told without complaint) and probably one of the nicest kids in the NHL. When I was interning with the Hawks Ruutu was always willing to sit down at our table and gab with us as one of the gang. He's 24 (about to be 25) and seriously acts like any other person that age. He also respects authority, calling everyone Mrs. or Mr., he's a f***ing great kid and incredibly well-mannered. One thing that can't be ignored is his talent and he has been completely misused all year long, but he won't say anything about it. He's not "all-world" as we believed (and he may have been) when he came up, and I'm sure the ridiculous injuries have taken a toll on him both physically and emotionally; he'll never make his own plays. What would work well for him would be to have a playmaking center ala Alexei Zhamnov was to Tony Amonte. Amonte wasn't the most talented player in the world either, but he played with good centers at least and Zhamnov was a pass first, second, third and fourth type of guy. That's what Tuomo needs to truly reach his potential. I agree though, putting him on a line with Adam freaking Burrish and Craig Adams is a laughingstock.
  22. QUOTE(shipps @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 10:44 AM) You are gonna be pretty lonely on that side of the fence. That's fine, I can think for myself...
  23. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 10:28 AM) Point is, if you are going to write an article about a steroid fueled team in chicago, the #1 focus should be the cubs. Their long time face of the franchise, several players named in the mitchell report, and their pitching messiah are all more important to the team than cansecos short stint here. Just two weeks ago he wrote that the interest in Brian Roberts was a joke and the Cubs should steer clear and ripped the organization for even thinking about it. Perhaps check your facts. link
  24. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 08:22 AM) This guy has such a vendetta against this organization. OMG get over it. He doesn't have a vendetta against the organization. He writes negative things about very other organization in the city as well. Not only that, but he's DEAD RIGHT on this subject. The whole league knew Canseco was a roider but the Sox signed him anyway. I for one will not be afraid to say that Jay Mariotti is the best columnist this town has.
