  1. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 13, 2008 -> 01:03 AM) Did you see Bynum last night against Bogut? 25 points, 17 boards, 10 of 13 from the field, 3 blocks, that's a very nice line. Now granted he's only averaging 13 points a game, but early in the season Kwame Brown was starting. He's averagin 18.8 / 12.8 this month. I look for that to be the norm for the rest of the season. He's certainly not as good as Paul is ATM. But with the footwork that Bynum has and quickness, he's basically a mini Shaq just like Dwight. Dude, Andrew Bynum is not a "mini Shaq just like Dwight." Dwight Howard I don't even compare to Shaq because his athleticism is world's above. Bynum would need to add about 75 lbs of muscle to be considered on Dwight's level. Bynum is nice, but I'm not taking him over Al Jefferson still. He's one of the better young centers in the NBA, but our comparison was value vs. Chris Paul, who is a top 5 talent in the league and arguably top 3.
  2. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jan 12, 2008 -> 07:25 PM) IMO, This tells me that a. The Tyrus pick was basically a mistake/trade bait, b. Wallace signing was a bust/didn't go to plan. I'm one of Tyrus biggest fans (damn shame that the horrid Hinrich stays but there isn't anyone out there who you can say is an impact PG thats avaliable) but if you get a T-Mac, (despite his legs being 33-35yrs.+) see ya. But I'm hoping it's just Wallace/2nd rounder or Wallace + rounder + Gordon (who makes the most sense to go) We'll see if this is true. John Paxson has no balls, so I'm sure nothing will happen. The only trade he can make is sending Tyson for nothing and swapping Aldridge for Tyrus. 2 losses. Alright, I'll give him a win on Deng and a break even on Curry... Curry could have been a huge win if he just keeps Aldridge.
  3. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jan 12, 2008 -> 05:46 PM) One of my friends called me saying his girlfriend called him saying she heard the Bulls traded Wallace and their 1st Rd pick for McGrady. They were probably just talking about trade ideas or something. Although there have been McGrady whispers recently. On another board someone said Wallace/Tyrus/2nd rounder is a done deal... no word on the net, but supposedly it's going to be announced Monday? I find it odd that my sister-in-law would hear this and this other person would hear the exact same deal as it being done, yet no word on the net.
  4. My sister in law claims she heard on the radio that the Bulls dealt Wallace/Thomas/Gordon for McGrady. Anyone heard anything like this? She's probably nuts.
  5. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jan 11, 2008 -> 12:11 AM) It's f***ing scary just to think about. Hopefully the Mets do get him. I love seeing him pitch, but never against us again. Let that be the NL's problem. IMO, the Mets will be instant favorites to go very, very far. I'll say this, more than likely the Twins will have two studs (Guerra, Martinez) that will be damn good in the future and I like Gomez alot (he just needs experience.) Hopefully the Mets get this done one way or another. Agreed 100%.
  6. QUOTE(iamshack @ Jan 12, 2008 -> 02:01 PM) I'm not sure why the Blue Jays would do this...perhaps it's because they view Rolen's deal has a bargain? He is set to earn $12 million for 08'-10'. I guess that is a fair price if he stays healthy, but he hasn't stayed healthy in years. I don't quite understand this. Meanwhile, the Cardinals get a player who is set to receive $12.75 million in 08' and has a player option for $11.25 million for 09', which he will certainly decline if he is healthy this season and puts up career average numbers. Seems that the Blue Jays are the team the Cardinals have been looking for to let them off the hook for quite a while now regarding Rolen... When healthy, Scott Rolen is the much better third baseman.
  7. God dammit. They need to just let this go away.
  8. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jan 11, 2008 -> 10:40 PM) I'm a bit slow... what exactly does it mean by them adding WCIU HD? Previously they only offered WCIU, so anytime the Sox played and the U had the game it looked like crap unless you set up an antennae or split your cable and ran it straight to your tv... now, its part of the HD package and will be channel 183.
  9. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 11, 2008 -> 10:21 PM) Ok well I'd say CP3 has probably emerged as a top 5 player in the NBA ATM. Byron Scott's down a great job with him. But you could argue about these guys also; Dwight Howard - 22.4 points, 15.2 boards, 2.6 blocks, 60.5% from the field. Dwyane Wade - 25 points, 6.9 assists, 47.7% from the field. Carlos Boozer - 23.3 points, 10.8 boards, 55.2% from the field. Melo - 25.2 points, 6.9 boards. And you gotta have Kobe in the top 5. On value to their team's you could argue about a Tim Duncan also. Regardless, Andrew Bynum isn't even in the same area code. Of those four you listed above, the only one I'd arguably place in Paul's league is Dwight Howard (just in his ability to dominate). Wade is always injured... Boozer benefits from thea forementioned Deron Williams, and Melo just flat out doesn't change the game all that much.
  10. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 11, 2008 -> 09:44 PM) You see I don't know about that. Paul is a hell of a PG right now, and probably just ahead of Deron Williams as the best player from that draft. But Bynum could be as dominant as Ming and Howard in a season or 2. 20/10 bigs don't exactly grow on trees, they're very scarce. Dude. Chris Paul is going to win the MVP trophy and contend for the next 15 years. Those just don't come around. Chris Paul is the best player in the NBA not named LeBron or Nash (I don't put Kobe on that level)... Seriously, Chris Paul is just outstanding. He's averaging 21.3 points, nearly 3 steals, 10.2 assists, shooting nearly 50%, and only turns the ball over 2.5 times per game despite the incredible amount he touches the ball. Yeah, Bynum's good, but Chris Paul makes his entire team better (just like Nash in Phoenix), and I can safely say is the most valuable player in the NBA not named LeBron (when you consider the age of Nash).
  11. Just thought everyone would be happy to hear that... no more going over the air for your WCIU HD. It's being added January 30.
  12. QUOTE(BaseballNick @ Jan 11, 2008 -> 02:56 PM) Joe Crede won the Silver Slugger in 2006 and we know what he brings to the table defensively. If Joe is 100% healthy, then he's worth Ervin Santana in a trade. Santana didn't exactly wow anyone last year. That's a HUGE if.
  13. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jan 11, 2008 -> 02:57 AM) Last night on the Score, Jesse Rogers was speculating/guessing/hoping it would be Dan Boyle of the Lightning. He figures coming off the injury may make him cheaper to acquire. I don't know what to think - Boyle's been a minus player since 2004, but career-wise, he's good for 50-60 points per season. I am a HUGE Dan Boyle fan... depending on price I'd welcome him to Chicago with open arms.
  14. I don't think the Angels are the least bit concerned with "keeping Bedard out of Seattle." Seattle won't touch them regardless.
  15. Alexander Ovechkin signs a 13-year, 124 million dollar deal. I thought that Dipietro deal was odd.
  16. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jan 10, 2008 -> 05:32 PM) I know he's very talented, but how many young players have come up recently and put up a .900+ OPS in their first full season? Howard, Braun... Even Fielder didn't. Pssh. Those guys suck. We're talking about Carlos Quentin here.
  17. If people want to talk about a team in west suburbs I'm down. And I'm talking 12", not that lame hitting a medicine ball 16" stuff!
  18. QUOTE(A's fan @ Jan 10, 2008 -> 02:21 AM) My warriors got beat up on by Portland today however barron hardly played It's spelled Baron and he hardly played because he didn't show up in the first quarter and by the end of that the game was already over. I have a buddy who lives in SF and is becoming a Warriors fan (just moved from Chicago), and he and I both question when Wright is going to get some run. I know figuring out Don Nelson is like curing the common cold, but any idea if his PT will increase?
  19. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 9, 2008 -> 10:19 PM) f*** this season This is the best Hawks season since 96-97. There is a TON of hope for the future. So we struggle with injuries and get another quality player in the draft to help us down the line... I could not be happier with what has happened this season and all along we all knew this team shouldn't be ready for the playoffs just yet. The injuries have killed us... but next year will be very very very interesting.
  20. Regardless, the Sox will be easier to watch in 2008 with more quality on base guys and a (i believe) much improved bullpen.
  21. QUOTE(max power @ Jan 9, 2008 -> 02:04 PM) Really? They make me want a sandwich. You're current sig, that's nightmare worthy. They are both legendary and created by me. I really re-sized those sausage nips big time... we need to resurrect that on this board for Slav or something. That'd be more suitable anyway. BURN
  22. The info in this thread is all very good. Obviously I welcome more but will be adopting many of these in the coming days.
