  1. QUOTE(JFields27 @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 01:04 PM) I have experience in ootp leagues, dont know how many spots will be available in the league, but i might be interested There's 3 teams available. If you are interested and would be active, go fill out an application at SSBL.
  2. QUOTE(joemg311 @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 12:41 PM) Get yourself a jump rope if you have the room indoors to use one. They are inexpensive and give you quite the workout. You can also mix up your jumps and try to learn tricks, there are really many different ways you can exercise with one so you don't get too bored with it. Now THAT'S a suggestion. Thanks!
  3. It really shows the sad state of the NFL in terms of elite teams that the Giants won that game so handily in the playoffs. I've never been less-impressed with a playoff team that won on the road. Seriously, the QB play in the NFL needs to adjust to get to the level that these monsters on the defensive lines have, or else these games will continue to not be pretty. Extended drives just don't happen as often as they used to... it seems that teams score on homeruns more and more.
  4. Maybe this can be pinned for all of us that are gracious for this Website. I have, for the last three + years, used Soxtalk as a place to talk White Sox, all sports, entertainment, and a few other things. Recently, I've even dabbled in asking soxtalk for health info and other things, and I realized that this is a really expansive site with folks you can trust. However, unlike other sites, I know that this one will be correctly policed so things don't get out of hand and annoying like many Websites do... so for all y'alls who police the site, have lended your creativity and ideas, your money, all of it... what the hell? I thank you.
  5. QUOTE(SnB @ Jan 6, 2008 -> 06:49 PM) the EA sports NHL series is the ones I have the most fun with and play the longest. The 360 graphics are amazing. Halo is best used with XBox Live, so get that. You might want to do what I did, and sell the marvel/forza game on ebay and get something you truly want. I am a huge hockey fan, and found myself disappointed with NHL bc though the graphics are amazing, you can't really tell during actual gameplay bc the only playable camera angle (classic ice) is just too far out there. I used the amount I got from NHL 08 on eBay to get Halo 3. I was quite disappointed in NHL 08, simply because if I have a next-gen console, I want to feel like I am playing a next-gen game at ALL TIMES. NBA 2k8 is a must. It's like watching a real game (at least in HD, anyway), and controls are a blast too. Halo 3... with XBox Live is the single best XBox 360 experience. BioShock (you'll never play another game like this, graphics/story/gameplay all a blast) Those are the three musts in my opinion. I hear CoD 4 is a renter bc the online doesnt compare to Halo 3 and the single player is one that can be completed in 10 hours. I sold my Marvel Alliance and Forza on eBay for around $30 and used that to get Tiger Woods 07 (rated better than 08 anyway, and looks like an orgasm), bc you just gotta have a good looking golf game.
  6. Alright scope this. I bought a house not too long ago and with that came the unfortunate loss of the exercise room at my apartment building. Basically, I can't excuse the expense of exercise equipment in my house, and want to find other alternatives for weight loss. I went on a weight loss craze and got down to about 185 on the treadmill, but now I'm up to about 200 lb on my 6'1" frame, and I'd like to, when all is said and done, be at about 175. WIth weather conditions this time of year non-condusive to outdoor running, I play ice hockey three nights a week, though with a recent ear injury have to take some time off the ice so that doesn't help. Anyway, what are some good workouts one can do at home without equipment to flat-out lose weight. I believe I am going to start doing stair sprints from the basement to the main level, but any other suggestions would be great for weight loss (not concerned with building muscle just yet). I'm sure the stairs will help with the expanding ass, but what about the gut from college? I do have some barbell free weights that can go from 15 - 35 lb, though again im not concerned about building muscle just yet. Again, I'm not an idiot, I know situps/crunches can help, just looking for creative alternatives that will keep me somewhat entertained. Also, best practices and amount of repetitions for the normal exercises (see situps/crunches) would all be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  7. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 10:38 AM) That would probably be the best move. The question then comes up do you even want Dye on this team past his current contract? I don't think I do. I don't think that's really the "next" question that comes up. Dye has a two year contract right now and KW doesn't seem too concerned with 2010, so that's definitely not the next thought.
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 10:22 AM) Skimming the thread, why would everyone be arguing whether Swisher or Fields would become the 1B if Konerko was traded? Jermaine Dye would be the perfect candidate to be our next 1B, because it would also free up RF for Quentin, LF for Swisher, and leave CF to Figgins, or some other filler D-first type CF off of the scrapheap. Dye with his athleticism and height is a natural future 1B if you ask me. That was my first thought. If we got a CF in that deal, you put Quentin in RF, Swisher in LF, and stick JD at 1B helping him rest.
  9. QUOTE(beautox @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 09:38 AM) OF Reggie Willits SS Sean Rodriguez C Hank Conger '08 line up CF Willits S SS Cabrera R 1B Swisher S DH Thome L RF Dye R 3B Fields R C AJP L LF Quentin R 2B Richar L PK and Crede for Willits, Rodriguez, and Conger would be brutal.
  10. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 12:41 AM) max sapp is ghey And really good.
  11. QUOTE(ptatc @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 09:17 AM) The problem with this statement is that lidocaine is a local anesthetic. So, unless the pain was in his rear end, where the injection was given, it won't help anything else. That guy in your avatar could use some lidocaine. As for Roger, he's full of s***.
  12. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jan 6, 2008 -> 10:44 PM) take a stool sample... traces of human flesh would be in there, if he did indeed eat some her. Well isn't that an accurate yet entirely disgusting post!
  13. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 6, 2008 -> 11:56 PM) I hear there's some sort of football game on. American Gladiators > BS (yes i left out the C) Championship.
  14. That was the s*** last night. Justice is a monster and would kill anyone... Wolf... well, he just makes me howl!
  15. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 05:32 PM) ... and you will quit posting too? That'd be nice. The uneducated, foolish, always negative posts would drop two-fold.
  16. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 01:42 PM) The Angels are pitching rich why would they need a 7th starter. And to be honest, we need the upside that Contreras could possibly bring. Without him pitching at a decent level this year we really don't stand a chance (if we do at all).
  17. QUOTE(ptatc @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 09:32 AM) If Konerko is involved in a deal, the primary objective will be starting pitching. The idea of targeting kendrick is off base. It will be for pitching and whatever else the the other team will include. If the above rumors are true, I hope KW has another plan to spin Mathews elsewhewre. He really doesn't have a place on this team besides the fact he isn't very good. You know KW is working plans to trade both Crede and Uribe. So there are still a couple of trades to come. Matthews would actually look rather decent in CF if it weren't for that contract... and I think he'll have a better 2008 than the great Aaron Rowand. If that's what it takes to get Ervin Santana and Howie Kendrick, I say f*** it, we didn't land any big fish in FA and can afford the luxury to get two extremely talented players. Kendrick Cabrera Swisher Thome Dye Fields AJP Quentin/Ramirez Matthews And seriously, Santana would really fortify the rotation and give us other options... he'd be a solid 4 or 5 with 2/3 upside, and then hopefully you move Crede to get some relief help.
  18. Rotoworld update From the original article... I've been wanting to get Santana in a deal for some time, getting Kendrick would be nuts. However, this has to be BS bc if the deal were Konerko for Kendrick and Santana, you don't try to get Figgins to, you take what you can get.
  19. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 09:26 PM) Wow dude, get over it already. He's nothing special. Natural swings didn't get his ass anywhere. And his loads of potential was good enough to be 6-8 in the White Sox s***ty farm system. And hitting .270 in Charlotte. What a great swing.
  20. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 07:42 PM) Call Microsoft or if you have a warranty from a store take it there. I had the extended warranty on my PS2 and when I got the disc read error I took it to Best Buy and they just gave me a brand new one straight out of the box. That's the s***. I spent the extra $69.99 and got the 3-year warranty for the 360 I got a week ago. If it doesn't go goofy by then I'll just tell them it did, which will pay for the plan itself thrice over.
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 12:50 PM) Billy Beane is still a god amongst GM's at recognizing talent, and KW is garbage at recognizing talent. I just love the Beane love... he still hasn't managed to win it all.
  22. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 04:15 PM) So, 2005 was great for the Sox, but that doesn't mean you should be totally oblivious to everything else that happened that year. And where are you getting that "park adjusted era"? Baseball Reference Link for more information
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 04:06 PM) He was hitting in front of Thomas the year he had the big year right? Hell yes he was. Thomas said Swisher was the nicest guy he ever played with too...
  24. QUOTE(RudyLawRules @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 04:06 PM) Check the below list to see how 2002 picks stack up against each other at present. It doesn't seem to be a science as we passed Matt Cain for gulp...Roye Ring. http://www.thebaseballcube.com/draft/2002/Round-1-1.shtml It's no exact science. Mark Buehrle went in something like the 36th round. I believe when we took Ring we also passed on Joe Blanton.
  25. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jan 3, 2008 -> 03:26 PM) 1. Jack Egbert 2. Lance Broadway 3. John Shelby 4. Aaron Poreda 5. Jose Martinez That is disgustingly bad for a teams top 5 prospects. 1. Alexei Ramirez 2. Jack Egbert 3. Lance Broadway 4. John Shelby 5. Aaron Poreda Our top prospect is 26 going on 30! Oh, I quad the request for Gio, DLS, and Sweeney info from Bureau.
