QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 04:13 PM) Bears? Trade for Anderson? I think that might be one of the worse moves they could make. Trading for a flash in the pan who could easily come back down to Earth would be a bad idea.

QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 08:17 PM) Noah looking real good this 4th quarter BTW, since we're not using Tyrus can we just trade him already? I agree, this is getting ridiculous. Tyrus is about to = Marcus Fizer.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 11:32 PM) He's not an all-star, but he is a #1. Lalime wouldn't cut it playing 65 games a year. If there's some other solution, maybe, but to throw Lalime in there...that'd be disastrous. The easiest thing to do over the past 3 years is blame the goaltender. It's like blaming grossman. The last 2 years he's had a POS team in front of him, and this year he's played well at times and hasn't had many bad games. He just had a great streak of hockey, he gets pulled yesterday even though he wasn't terrible and people want to pile back on. I think quite a few better options have already been named in this thread. I'm advocating a salary dump. If we have to take on a crappy d-man making 3.5-4 mill per then obviously we just wait for Khabby's contract to end... but if someone would take him off our hands and absorb 75% of his salary, I would move him first and worry about 08-09 afterwards. I think the argument that Lalime can't start 65 games and be a #1 is off considering how good he was in Ottawa just before the strike. If you gave him the reigns I think he could easily match Khabibulin's production this season. Of course, I could be wrong, but we're all calling Bulin a #1 because of what he did with Tampa before the strike, so using the same reasoning for Lalime only makes sense. -
smelly gold.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 10:24 PM) You keep saying next year is the big year or what not, and you want Lalime starting? Right. Nik and his .900 save percentage doesn't exactly suggest #1 goaltender. Just because Lalime isn't the answer, that doesn't mean Nik is... and Lalime sure doesn't make the "highest salary of any Chicago Blackhawk in team history." -

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 04:03 PM) Huet's a guy that I like quite a bit as a goalie. Not sure what his stats are this season, but I think Montreal wants to open up the net for Price to be their bookend for the next 10-15 years. If you could trade Khabi for say an expiring contract + early picks, and then sign Huet to a deal in the off-season, that'd be something that I'd look at. Hell yes. This would be brilliant. Give Bulin to Pittsburgh if at all possible and sign one of Huet, Aebischer, or Bryzgalov (in that order) and I would be a very happy camper. -

QUOTE(JoeBatterz @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 03:36 PM) Agreed. You can not trade Habby unless you have a plan for the net in 08-09. Now if some team such as Tampa gets really desperate and wants to really really overpay us, then we listen. I think Lalime could fill in more than admirably, cost a fraction of what Bulin does, and then you use the cap space to spend elsewhere. Unless I missed the part where Khabibulin was performing well this year. -
QUOTE(BearSox @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 03:08 PM) I think Kazmir will eventually have to make a move over to the Pen. You have to love the statements that come out of nowhere, have no information to back them up, and are just plain ridiculous.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 01:54 PM) It's saying a lot when I say I'd just rather roll with Jerry Owens than get Willy Taveras... I hate Taveras. Actually, looking at his stats, at worst he'll put up Pods numbers but stay healthy and hit better vs. lefties, and he's just entering his prime. I am going to completely 100% change my stance and say I'd be very happy with Taveras on this roster... that's of course depending on the price. -

QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jan 1, 2008 -> 02:28 PM) It all depends on your definition of "win." Sure KW has a winning record as GM, but he has 1 playoff appearance in 7 years. Not good. Dude, you can't just call it "1 playoff appearance." He won the damn World Series...

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 12:12 PM) I don't understand the philosophy of trading our already anemic minor league system for essentially the same player we already have in CF except older and and more experienced. Not only does this seem like shuffling deck chairs in the Titanic, but it seems to be getting the same chair at a more expensive price. Adding somebody just for the illusion of progress/movement is just plain stupid. Crisp, I like, but Taveras benefited from Coors and is not much better than Owens... he'll hit for a higher average but at this point does the difference from Owens to Taveras make us better? That'd be a no. -
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 08:58 AM) I completely agree. I enjoyed the movie but the dialogue, although I enjoyed it, seemed unnaturally witty. Reminded me of the Gilmore Girls. Are there 15 and 16 year olds out there that really talk this way? Though not believable, it was entertaining... I think what was so great was how unbelievably interesting the lingo and the way she delivered it was... it's what makes Juno special. I'm not sure the movie and the lingo of the film was meant to be compared to the real-world. It was an interesting story.

This is actually quite cool. Good job.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 10:48 AM) Well, it kind of depends on what stretch you give creedence too, the miserable play for most of the first two months makes them look like they end up in the low lottery, or the last 3 games makes them look like a 4-6 seed in the East. I tend to lean a bit towards the latter given their history, though probably closer to 6. They still need to keep this up for a while to solidify their position, as they're still stuck in the jumbled mess that is the lower half of the Eastern Conference. I do agree though, there's no sense in looking at minimally the top 6 or so prospects in the draft since even if they do miss they're going to be one of the lower teams in the lottery. Even right now they'd be somewhere between 8th and 10th in the lottery, and they're a lot more likely to gain ground than Sacramento or Charlotte. Yeah, and no where NEAR Eric Gordon, lol.

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 10:53 AM) I was so excited about this team a few weeks ago, but now it seems they have no chance of making the playoffs. They really need to get into the playoffs for people to take notice. Damn these injuries. To be fair, if they win last night they currently hold the 8th spot in the Western Conference... and that's with their best player having played less than 10 games. However, the league is learning how to defend the rooks, especially Kane, so that hurts. Saying they have no chance to make the playoffs is pushing it, because they could easily find themselves fighting for the 8th spot come season's end... but the real year to watch for is next year. This injuries are a real b**** though. -
QUOTE(rockren @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 07:37 AM) What about Kaz is overrated exactly? The change-up he back-doors on right handers? That slider is one of the better we'll see in baseball? Or his curve ball that is about as good as it gets. Oh and he throws 94-95 a lot of the game with a fastball that moves around. He's put up eye popping numbers and he's only 24. Oh and he's a LEFTY. Did I mention that he played on perhaps the worst team in baseball against probably the most brutal of lineups inside the division? Overrated? COME ON! Well, his walk rate is rather high, but I agree... he put up a 3.48 era in the AL East at 24 years old. The kid is going to be sick. That being said, the Rays have no reason to move him when they are just now getting the pitching to go along with their young hitting (though losing Delmon hurts the future prospects of their offense, Longoria should be ready to step in soon enough.)

This is a team for next year playing incredibly well and over their heads. We get that vagine Havlat back tomorrow, but he'll be out soon enough again. Without Toews, this team loses a lot of punch. I'd love to see Khabibulin traded before the deadline to a team in need of a veteran goaltender. His window is closing just as the team's is opening. It would make most sense to trade him and call up Crawford to backup Lalime. -
QUOTE(knightni @ Dec 31, 2007 -> 05:06 PM) So, if it's nowhere near the lottery, you think they'll go deep into the playoffs then? Well, they won't miss the playoffs, and depending on matchups could easily get bumped in the 2nd round again...
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 31, 2007 -> 04:05 PM) The way the Bulls are playing right now, the Bulls would be crazy to give up Noc + Gordon and to even consider thinking about their first rounder this year. They could well be looking at a mid to high lottery pick. Imagine that trade becoming Noc + Gordon + the other Gordon for Gasol. That's murder. Dude, the Bulls' draft pick is going to be no where NEAR the lottery let alone high enough to get Gordon. Their pick more than likely will wind up in the 18-22 range.

QUOTE(Hatchetman @ Dec 31, 2007 -> 08:33 AM) How in the hell did that guy ever hit 25 home runs? My 90 year old aunt Rita has more power than him.
-
QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Dec 28, 2007 -> 01:57 PM) beats $4.5 million for a backup SS. At least that backup shorstop has a history of showing up and not injuring himself on a swing. The Stros might as well give me the million... I'd make as much of an impact as Erstad ever will again.

Samsonov on waivers Can't say I'm surprised with his lack of production. I highly doubt he gets picked up. Man, has this guy fallen... still only 29.
