QUOTE(beck72 @ Dec 29, 2007 -> 08:10 AM) From this article, it sounds like any deal involving Santana has to involve a CFer. GEtting a young, inexpensive CFer locked up for years makes the most sense for the Twins. Crisp going to the Twins makes no sense. If the sox have been in contact with Boston for Crisp, a deal should get done after the Santana deal is / is not completed. Though the Red sox should hang onto Ellsbury, and his name is not often mentioned in deals. http://www.startribune.com/sports/twins/12905596.html Yeah... we knew this a month ago.

OK, for anyone out there with a PS3 or an XBOX 360 AND a HD television, please go out and rent (or save the 7.99 and purchase, because you will be anyway) NBA 2k8. I have three 360 games that I got in celebration of Jesus Christ's birthday (my ass), and I haven't even put the other two in yet. NBA 2k8 has rocked my socks off... it looks like you are WATCHING an NBA game, it plays like the real thing, the players seem alive on the court... the game is just indescribable. It truly is... I have never played a better GAME, let alone a better sports game or better NBA game, this is the best game I have ever played.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 28, 2007 -> 11:35 PM) Ya, so Juno rocked my socks off. What a fantastic movie. I too just got back from Juno. It was one of the most enjoyable films I've seen... great, hilarious dialog along with a great storyline. I can't wait to see it again.

QUOTE(knightni @ Dec 28, 2007 -> 05:07 PM) If you've burst your eardrum, you'll start getting liquid blockage in a few days which will require a doctor's assistance to remove. After your ear starts draining, you might want to take a day or two off from work. The pain that comes from your ear draining rivals broken bones.

QUOTE(shipps @ Dec 28, 2007 -> 08:38 AM) I dont know where you got the "wait and see" approach from the net but this should be all the info you need on it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otitis_media I didn't have an ear infection which the Otitis speaks of, I had a huge head cold with buildup. If I had an infection I woulda gone and gotten an antibiotic right away.

QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 28, 2007 -> 08:23 AM) I get ear infections a lot. Had tubes in my ears as a kid. Usually get the infections every year or so. It is a point where I know it is coming, go to the doctor, get Omoxicilin and stop it before it ever blows up. Instead of trying to do it yourself, you should of gone to the doctor and got some antibiotics. You may have burst your ear drum. Get to a doctor just to check it out. It may get infected. Trust me. I too had the tubes when I was a kid. The ear doctor often told me to "pop" my ears when it gets like it was feeling. I didn't intentionally burst the drum. I guess I'll spend my final day I took off at the doctor's after spending the first 4 days this week sick!

So I've had a wicked bad head cold since about Saturday, and last night I tried to pop my ear to relieve pain... the ear popped but pain was even worse. Then, magically the pain stopped and I kind of heard a "thud" in my ear. Now it feels like I have something in my ear when I don't. Anyway, I'm 99% sure my eardrum burst... has this happened to anyone? From what I read on the net, it seems to be a wait it out type of thing, so I'm thinking I won't go to the docs.

Sox Interested in Roberts?

QUOTE(ptatc @ Dec 22, 2007 -> 10:12 PM) Where did you get the pictures? I like those. It's a good representation of the TJ surgery. The tendon used is usually the palmaris longus, if the player has one. Just randomly found on google, saw he had ligament issues before 2005.. thought maybe he went on something to fix the ligament issues and hit a few more homeruns as a side effect. It's not like he needs to hit HRs to be good... -
QUOTE(sircaffey @ Dec 23, 2007 -> 02:26 PM) Mediocre and fired. Time for a new direction. That's what I went with. Forever thankful for 2005... forever saddened at how long it will take to recover.

Anyone think the roids had something to do with this, and the HRs were a side-effect? -

The White Sox and Alexei Ramírez agree to 4 year deal

QUOTE(scenario @ Dec 22, 2007 -> 10:56 AM) You have to put the salaries in perspective. Compare what he got to the last two Cuban shortstops who came over to MLB... - When Yuniesky Betancourt came over (2005), he signed a 4-year contract for $2.8M. - Yunel Escobar, the new Braves SS replacing Renteria, is playing for the major league minimum. So not out of line really. In fact, Ramirez is probably feeling pretty good. He just went from Cuban poverty to being an American millionaire. Excellent post. -

Regardless, talk about a rule 5 that worked out. Man, knowing KW, he didn't even know who Josh Hamilton was until reading rotoworld.com seconds ago.

QUOTE(heirdog @ Dec 21, 2007 -> 03:48 PM) Nice...now he can cast his voodoo spell on Wedge to play him every where, every day just like he did to Guillen. We could use that type of productivity in the line-up of our division rivals. Wedge is not an idiot... unlike Guillen.

QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 20, 2007 -> 06:02 PM) I think Willis at 3 yr, 29 mil is quite worth it for Detroit. No s***. Guys like Carlos Silva are getting more. I know people are pissed that Detroit pulled that deal off, and I also think an era under 4 in the AL Central might be pushing it... but this is a young lefty for less than 10 mill per... this cannot be painted as a bad contract.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 20, 2007 -> 11:33 PM) Gaborik with 5 goals and an assist tonight. psshh. Zhamnov's 5 goal game was better. Go Jets! -
QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 20, 2007 -> 02:29 PM) Media reports have the Cubs close to acquiring Roberts for Murton/Gallagher/another prospect. He would be just an ideal acquisition for the Cubs. I love this offseason! I'm not a Cubs fan. But seriously, this could not be a more perfect fit for them... screw the roids crap... Roberts makes their offense elite. I guess this forces alfonso to the #5 spot?

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 20, 2007 -> 10:53 AM) You know he started off playing well I though... but this recent stretch of games he has been very brutal. I just wish Skiles would have a shorter leash on him or something. No matter how well he started off, he still plays somewhat dirty and I'll always hate that contract.
-
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 20, 2007 -> 01:37 PM) You're ok giving up a substantial piece to acquire a player that has been pretty terrible the last two seasons, hoping he is going to rebound into 2005 form? Not to mention we have 2006-2007 Crisp already on the roster in Owens. Mike Sweeney put up a 864 OPS in 2005, you want him now? Ensberg had a 945 OPS in 2005, what about him? Things change. Crisp hasn't been productive in a few years, for some reason is going to cost a lot, and based on his numbers the last two years, isn't really a fit on this team. Anything that we dealt to Boston would not be a "substantial piece." You've been brainwashed by Sox management.
-
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 20, 2007 -> 01:20 PM) Basically, the only way a deal similar to what is being discussed is good for the Sox, is if he does in fact return to previous form. And that is a pretty big gamble. Very true... I for one think it's a gamble worth taking. The kid's fun to watch and since the Sox have money to burn from not signing a centerfielder, it makes sense to give up the 1.5 years age difference in Owens to Coco... Coco > Rowand and I'd rather have him than Hunter too... age/salary being the main reason for Hunter. The reasoning on Rowand is that he's Aaron Rowand, which rocks at 5 mill but sucks at 12!
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 20, 2007 -> 01:15 PM) Yeah 3 years ago. He's been dreadful for 2 full seasons now, perhaps it's not a good idea for an aging 4th place team to weaken an already depleted farm system in order to acquire a guy who they're praying will return to the player he was 3 years ago. And even if he did revert to his 2005 form he's still not good enough to pull this team out of the basement. Unless the Sox are giving up a couple AAAA relievers a Crisp deal will do nothing but hurt this franchise in the long run. You do realize that Crisp is just 1.5 years older than the magical Owens, right? At least coco has put up an OPS of .800+ before... he could easily get back to the .790-.810 range, especially in the Cell on a team committed to give him playing time. Don't forget, his poor years were highlighted by a pretty bad injury that affected his hitting. He's supposedly 100% now.
-
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 20, 2007 -> 01:10 PM) Crisp is a mild upgrade over Owens, but I still think you have to give up too much to make it worth it. Maybe in hell... where players with no talent are nearly as good as players who have proven they can put up consistent numbers on the ML level!
