  1. QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 14, 2007 -> 11:55 AM) people actually still watch family guy? that. family guy is so 3 years ago. (and for the cool folks 6)
  2. and why, oh why, would the marlins want jon garland for one year at 12 mill?
  3. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 08:27 PM) Vince Carter hurt again... http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3106898 apparently broke his vagina. again? he's played 70+ games in each of his last 4 seasons.
  4. As for McCabe, he's the type of guy who's stats look good at the end of the year but you don't want on your team. When he was here, he was worthless, in Toronto, his stats look fine but everyone wants him gone... and that's for a reason.
  5. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 10:49 PM) The confused part wasn't really serious, it was just a flat out rip on "that guy" I don't mind ripping that f***. he was worthless.
  6. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 10:29 PM) Can we please stop with this bulls***? Honestly... you've done it about three times in this thread alone, it's rather tiring and you look like a five year old when doing it. For cripes sakes... To be fair, he questioned my accuracy on something that I remember from watching the games, and it was a pretty hot topic right before McCabe got traded... so by questioning that he obviously wasn't paying too much attention at the time for whatever reason. That's a completely fair thing to say. He said I must have been confused, I wasn't. McCabe put the puck into his own net multiple times leading to questions of whether his head was in the game and the inevitable acquisition of the man my buddies and I so adoringly referred to as Karpetsnatch.
  7. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 09:32 PM) You are ripping a guy that brought back, via trade...well I can't even say it. And then he went on to fulfill the potential many Hawks fans thought he had. Interesting. Pretty sure you have him confused with the guy who came back. Neither you nor Pat Foley wish to speak of that players name. However, I have him confused with no one... I actually watched the games. He passed the puck into his own net like 3 times in a two week span and got dealt shortly thereafter. He's overpaid and really isn't needed on this team. Let's develop the youth on the blueline. If anything we need a defensive defenseman (heh) not an offensive one.
  8. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 07:55 PM) BLACKHAWKS SCOUTING McCABE? CANADA.COM "OFFSIDE"/THE FOURTH PERIOD: recently reported a rumour of the Chicago Blackhawks have inquired about Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Bryan McCabe. Spector's Note: Three words: No. Movement. Clause. 'Nuff said. Movin' on... When McCabe was previously with the Hawks he scored more goals on his own net than he did against the opposing team.
  9. Tru (Shadows) enjoys the Dolphins defeat of the Chicago Bears in 1985.
  10. QUOTE(Shadows @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 03:03 PM) awww.. don't be upset the Bears season was ruined by Dolphins And I don't think it takes a "homer" to realize that an undefeated season, the only ever, is better than a 1 loss season.. I dont really care if you think the Bears team was better.. But you said the Dolphins team was better. Believe it or not, I'm not too shaken up over the Dolphins defeat of the Bears in 1985 when I was 2 years old. I know you are still loving it, weren't you a fetus at that point... a little fetus with a dolphins cap on? I don't know. How old are you? 23. OK, you were a baby with a Dolphin cap on.
  11. QUOTE(Shadows @ Nov 11, 2007 -> 03:43 PM) Thats the only argument needed Last time I checked 0 losses is better than 1 loss.. K. Sweet. The Bears won 18 games against much stronger competition than the Dolphins who only won 17 games. Ever the Miami homer, eh Tru? 0-9 and counting...
  12. NHL Thread... not AHL! NHL players > Atlanta Thrasher farmhands.
  13. My Mark Buehrle came with a mini slip n slide.
  14. I'm starting to think Ruutu-Toews-Kane is the best line in all of hockey RIGHT NOW.
  15. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 12:38 PM) To continue with the feel-good posts... Back in April or May, the Hawks won the lottery to get the first overall pick. I think IlliniKrush texted me, and unfortunately, I can't say my first thought was jubilation. In all honesty -- IIRC -- my first thought was, 'Figures that they get the first overall pick in the year where there's no Crosby or Ovechkin." Haha... how wrong was I. How different this team, this day, this season would've been if the Hawks didn't win that lottery. Sure, we'd have Toews, but there's not a chance in hell we're 10-7 right now if Kane weren't here. So yeah -- there wasn't an Ovechkin or a Crosby in the 2007 draft, but there was Pat Kane, who's pretty f***ing close. Over on talkbhawks, I was very high on Patrick Kane, but didn't expect him to look this good... to look EASILY as good as Sid the Kid. It's very exciting stuff.
  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 11:33 AM) Why oh why would they want Jaque Jones? Sheffield possibly being outed for steroids soon and incurring an early-season supsension!? that's about as speculative as I've ever been. otherwise i dont really get this one.
  17. ESPN 1000... good move for the cubs. e-gads is Jacque going to kill us like he did in Minnesota?
  18. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 11:11 AM) Great Post steve. Nothing upset me more than losing Chris Chelios frankly, but Roenick was close. Thanks man. Then there was Ed Belfour.
  19. So, I'm 24 years old, and being at that critical age I was a tad to young to care when the Hawks got swept in the Stanley Cup Finals by the Pittsburgh Penguins... but I remember that feeling that the Blackhawks were something special. I've played ice hockey my entire life, and was raised a Blackhawks fan. I REALLY got into the Hawks at the age of 13, I mean obsessed with them, in 96-97, the final year that Jeremy Roenick played for the team. I idolized Tony Amonte, played hockey with him twice as a 15 year old in Rockford, IL. The Hawks dealt Roenick away, and I was one of the few who loved Alex Zhamnov for who he was... the Hawks played Colorado in the playoffs for the second consecutive year, and I sat 4th row off the ice right next to where Sergei Krivokrasov scored the game winning goal in double overtime against Patrick Roy. The Hawks had just made the playoffs for the 30th consecutive season (albeit as the 8th seed) and really gave those splendid Avs a run for their money in the opening round. The Blackhawks' downward trend really began the next season, but the idolization of Tony Amonte, Zhamnov, Eric Daze, of course Chris Chelios, that all continued. As stars like Ed Belfour and Chris Chelios left and the team tried to sell us on Jocelyn Thibault and Jeff Hackett, as way past their prime signees such as Wendell Clark, Paul Coffey, Doug Gilmour cycled in and out, as young hotshot players turned to bust or were traded (JP Dumont, Chad Kilger, Remi Royer, Daniel Cleary, Ty Jones, Steve McCarthy, Kyle Calder, Mikhail Yakubov, Pavel Vorobiev, Igor Radulov, this is just off the top of my head, there have been too many misses to count.) We gave away fan favorites for pennies on the dime such as Zhamnov, Sullivan, and Amonte, then the lockout... the Hawks didn't even seem like they were trying! Dirk Graham, Lorne Molleken, Alpo Suhonen, Brian Sutter, Trent Yawney... the Sutter choking Tyler Arnason debacle... THEO FLUERY. This team, it has tried to kill my love of Blackhawk hockey. Love was not a two-way street in those days. Well, I finally feel like the Hawks care, like they want to give me a big hug for the years of pain I've felt. These two kids (Kane and Toews) they are for real. They have ridiculous talent. Tuomo Ruutu is finally staying healthy. Hell, we have the 3rd best record in the Western Conference and Marty Havlat isn't even playing. I feel good, I feel proud, I feel great to be a Hawks fan again. The times have changed and I am 100% on board, this team wants a Stanley Cup, and finally, FINALLY, I can see enough pieces in place that that might be a distinct possibility in the next half-decade. Ladies and Gentlemen, Blackhawk hockey is back, and I couldn't be happier. /rant
  20. That game last night and the presentation in high definition is going to lead to hockey becoming huge again in Chicago. It was done spectacularly. Oh, and you know, Kane and Toews.
  21. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 09:23 AM) Crede had a career year in 2006 and was garbage in 2007 Come on man, he was playing injured and went under the knife. Gargabe is a bit off...
  22. QUOTE(rockren @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 08:45 AM) You lucky bastard. Tyrus will be going against Bosh all night so he'll have a tough time. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ty put up some big plays and surprise Bosh, though. Yeah, Bosh has been rather hit or miss on the young season, and Toronto is struggling to get in a groove... but they did just split two with the Magic. We'll see. I think that first win was huge for the Bulls and they will come out rolling... but Bargnani/Bosh might give them fits.
  23. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Nov 8, 2007 -> 10:44 PM) The only joke here is this thread (no offense at all Steve ) and I'm half-way saying this cause I'm one of the biggest (if not, THE biggest) Tyrus Thomas fan on this board. DBAH0, SoxFan1, or others can definitely tell you that. At the time it was posted, his work ethic and the inability to pass Joakim Noah and Aaron Gray (obviously now a ploy by Skiles) were in question. I jumped the gun on this thread. After watching LaMarcus Aldridge dominate opening night and the next day seeing the stories about Tyrus' ethic pissed me off. I was all about Tyrus on draft day, and I am extremely happy to see him play like he did last night (don't think I'm rooting against him!), but consistency will be an issue all year. However, he's had two what I would consider monster games out of 5, and is looking much better than 2006-07, so I am very happy with what I have seen. I'll be at the UC tomorrow night, hopefully he dunks on Bargnani (taken 3 spots higher than him) a few times.
  24. Crede is getting dealt. KW is just trying to drive up his value a bit to squeeze that extra piece, but the future of the White Sox at 3B is Josh Fields, not the Scott Boras-led Joe Crede. You just don't send a guy down to AAA who had a pace of 37/108 in his rookie year.
