  1. QUOTE(Vance Law @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 01:36 AM) I like Damon for us, though he's not worth $13 million. I really don't think theyd have an issue paying some of that contract. But if Crede's back is all better after surgery, we like Joe. That's a huge IF though.
  2. i love the speculation that Tampa could be enticed to trade Carl Crawford for some of our struggling relievers... who gets paid to write this s***?
  3. That's funny, I never even considered it a remote possibility so what exactly am I supposed to forget?
  4. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 04:09 PM) Not really. It was an expression. It would've been all the same if I said something else like "f***ing bulls***, damnit, s***", whatever curse/swear you could think of. Again -- stop reading into something that isn't there. If you've read any of the NHL stuff I've posted here over the summer or even at the start of the season, you'd know my stance has been (and has remained) "cautious optimism", ie if everything went well, a 6-8 seed in the West wasn't out of the question, but what we'd most likely we'd be looking at is a 8-11 spot with (hopefully) improvement from the kids throughout the year. It's perfectly reasonably to hold those expectations and expect them to beat a bad hockey team at home. For anyone to read "f***ing a" as meaning it's a loss that's going to destroy a season is idiotic. Gosh damn if that ain't reading into something that isn't there... well then. my bust, and my apologies.
  5. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 04:02 PM) Detroit isn't a small market team with Illitch as the owner. He's shown with the Red Wings that he'll pay $$$ for star players, he's also shown that with a willingness to go WELL over slot with draft picks (Porcello, Miller). Obviously A-Rod is a bit of a different beast, but if Illitch sets his sights on A-Rod, there won't be a whole lot to stop the Tigers from submitting a very likeable offer. That's a great point on Illitch. I'm sure that the Tigers are tired of trotting Inge out to third as he's proven to be nothing more than a band-aid with his .688 OPS last year. Yeah, I would definitely not rule the Tigers out of the A-Rod sweepstakes.

QUOTE(BobDylan @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 03:40 PM) Boy, I know some make use of that CD Drive, but I guess others really make use of that CD Drive. That's right. I like to "reach around" and tug on its power cord during...
  7. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 03:53 PM) He'll be 35 when the season is over. I don't think any team has plans to play through November 5th. So 2008 doesn't = next year? I'm sorry, he'll be 34.887 next SEASON.
  8. That's truly intriguing. Considering his injury, I'd probably pull the trigger, but man... Damon's going to be 35 next year. I'd prefer putting Crede at 3B, Fields at 1st, and dealing Pauly.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 03:47 PM) I really wish people would stop saying this trade as if it's possible. If the Dodgers are looking to get out of Furcal's contract, why would they take on a bad contract that still has a few more years on it? If we're going to get Furcal, it's going to have to be for Garland. Give them Jon.
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 03:40 PM) If KW isnt in serious talks about Furcal then I can already see our 3rd place finish. 3rd place? That's actually pretty positive if you ask me. You know... for that price... MAN, renteria would have been nice.
  11. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 02:58 PM) Steve, Thats why its called, giving him another chance. If he doesnt do well, hes gone, no questions asked. I really just dont see what it will harm. If he sucks, he sucks, 1 more loss, 1 more half of Rex wont end this season. Griese isnt going to get any worse sitting 1 more game, and at this point who really cares. When your starting QB throws 3 picks in the end zone, something needs to change. Id rather give Orton a look over Griese as well. You know with Griese what you are getting, you have 2 unknowns, we might as well see if Orton or Rex has anything for next season. Dude, Grossman got plenty of chances to prove himself. What happens if he strings together by the grace of God three straight games with an 80+ QB Rating? All of the sudden "In Rexy We Trust." This franchise has rightfully moved on and you should, too. Grossman blew his chance with the Bears REPEATEDLY and throwing him back out there for more time is pointless. Grossman will find a spot as a backup on another team and maybe someday start again and put up passable numbers every now and then, much like Joey Harrington. But he doesn't deserve another shot with the Bears and I'd be surprised if he got the chance barring injury.
  12. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 02:42 PM) Well Zoom, what pick would you say that they should take a QB? The only way I would advocate Rex is if he put up a 80-90 rating in every single game from here on out. I do not think you could expect a rookie to come in here and put up those type of numbers. You can't expect Grossman to do that either. This is a whole lot of what if that has no plausibility.
  13. Oh God, this was a quick run... here's to rebuilding!
  14. In other news, Mr. "I scored my 500th career goal as a Chicago Blackhawk" Peter Bondra has retired. Bondra takes over as GM of Slovakian Hockey Team
  15. The "f***ing a" part seemed to point out that you expected at on out of the Hawks and that that loss was going to destroy their season. That's normally how "f***ing a" comes off.
  16. badger badger badger. go watch the colts. you obviously know nothing about the NFL and the Bears if you want to see more Rex. We saw 27 games of Rex, with a career passer rating under 70 and he was getting worse. he's not a starting QB in the NFL, and the rexperiement is over. deal with it.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 01:32 PM) So the leopard is a little ... spotty? niiiice. i haven't been convinced to move from Tiger yet. I'll wait for the bugs to get out (normally thats a non-issue with Mac), but I've only had Tiger for like 10 months and I still am making love to it everyday.
  18. You ain't exactly Ernest Hemingway. Hemingway's a queer. Well played, Hammerhead, well played. Regardless, you're going down in TalkBulls fantasy, so does any of this matter?
  19. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 01:13 PM) The Trashers have played pathetic hockey this year and are without Lehtonen. Hartley was fired. I'd say they were the worst team in hockey going into Saturday's game, which is really all that matters. That's an interesting way of looking at it. OR we could try to be smart about it and realize they actually do have talent and not jump off ship if the Hawks happen to struggle a bit this year (not you, Krush, but others).
  20. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 12:06 PM) I'm done with Griese. Put Rex in - evaluate him and either sign him or let him go during the offseason. We're not making the playoffs this year anyway. Rex has already been evaluated. As much as it crushes me we have to see some Orton this year and then we'll realize that none of the 3 QB's are the answer. However, Griese's still the best of the lot. Where's that vomit smiley at?
  21. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 10:11 AM) Silvy and Waddle just played the whole Urlacher post game interview. What a f***ing dickhead. Not that I was an Urlacher fanboy before, or my opinion matters, but I lost a ton of respect for him and the organization after listening to that bulls***. I think the Bears might be in trouble. This could be the beginning of the end for Urlacher if he really does have an arthritic back. That's not the type of thing you just play through, its the type of thing that ends careers.
  22. Can't say I didn't think the same thing. The reality settled in, I thought about how God awful this team was this year, and I realized we'll be lucky to be .500, let alone win the World Series. SO for this to play out, we need to either move to the NL Central or the AL Central needs to get really weak really quickly.
  23. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 28, 2007 -> 08:00 PM) I really think thats not as true as some of you believe, maybe he could of done more but if it was really a problem we would of heard something from skiles or something. And I know at times in the off-season Tyrus was spotted with Deng so they had to be doing more than watching WNBA games. could HAVE would HAVE
  24. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 09:39 AM) so, looks like all of our quarterbacks suck. time for kyle? time for the bulls.
