  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 22, 2014 -> 12:45 AM) FYI, Madden, FIFA, and NBA 2K15 are all $30 at Walmart this weekend. So if you wanted to pick one of those up at half-price, now's the time. It's better than going during Black Friday. Wow. Good tip.
  2. I'm excited for Rose to return for another 20 minutes.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 12:33 PM) If you are a hiring manager, how do you notify interviewees that they didn't get the job: A. Call from yourself to inform them B. Email from yourself to inform them C. Call/email from HR person to inform them D. No contact at all Now, I'm not talking about the larger pool of people who applied, just the smaller pool of people who actually made it to an interview with the hiring manager. As a hiring manager, I always do (A), but as an interviewee, I can't remember the last time I received anything other than © or (D), with (D) being far more frequent. B
  4. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 04:39 PM) I was just referring to the host yelling and calling the guy an idiot. Bernstein is such an ass to all his listeners, I would NEVER call in to his show. Yeah - they'd demolish you because you normally have some very weird off the wall ideas. jk, obv. bernstein is an equal opportunity demolisher.
  5. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 04:19 PM) Sounds like Dan Berstein. That sounds like the exact opposite of Dan Bernstein.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 09:09 AM) Jack Johnson's parents totally screwed him over In 2008, Johnson parted ways with agent Pat Brisson, who represents some of the National Hockey League’s biggest stars, including Sidney Crosby, Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews. With no agent and little knowledge of how the financial world works, Johnson turned over control of his money to his parents. Nice work, genius. As an aside, I can't believe this is his 9th season already. I'm old.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 12:31 PM) of course, the problem is you posted this with the Bulls about to play the Kings. Hahahahaha

QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 06:58 PM) So why all the stress? Why were they going to close this thing down? The f*** knows. I'm done thinking about it. Bunch of mind f***ers. I officially declined.

I declined the counter. I need to not have the stress in my life.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 04:44 PM) All Im going to say is that a piece of paper saying I will pay you $1 million dollars isn't worth anything if I cant pay it. Good luck. These investors blow that kind of cash in a weekend. It's nothing to them.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 08:13 AM) I can't say I envy having to make this decision. It sounds like you're in pretty good shape for several years either way. What sort of guarantee can they give you on the funding? I'm having it put into a contract. I'm not agreeing to anything (nor pulling the plug on the new opp) without a guaranteed contract. I want to puke.
  13. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 12:11 PM) A brief on Duke: Your browser does not support iframes. This was October of 2012 with the Nationals. Notice the 3/4 arm angle and how long the batter can see the ball. He gets the guy out, but with so much time to see the ball, you are going to make much better contact with the ball. Pitchers can still be successful, but they won't get strikeouts with the stuff Duke has. Your browser does not support iframes. This was in September for the Reds of 2013. Notice that he's dropped down and does a much better job of keeping the ball behind him. His breaking ball also has a much better sweeping motion to it. This seems to be a change he made while rehabbing or pitching in the minors of 2013. His splits after coming back up in 2013: .205/.244/.308, though the K% wasn't there yet. Your browser does not support iframes. This was in May of 2014. He's still coming from the side, but he's even sped up getting the ball to the plate. It comes in at 91 but with the inability to see it, it looks a lot faster than that. --- I could see this backfiring, but I'm really OK with this move. Why have you not found a way to become noticed for your baseball acumen? Surely there's a well trafficked site out there that would pay you.
  14. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 11:11 PM) Before he got here someone said he reminded them of Hedo Turkoglu. I think that's a pretty good comparison. It is. That's a swell comp, within his reach, and more realistic than the Dirk comparisons.

And here I thought it was over. Counter offer from old company. Full funding for two years, salary higher than new offer, ownership stake as official spinoff. I did not expect this.
  16. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 01:51 PM) There's also this one Joakim The best part about Jo is he acts like I would if I were 7 feet tall, talented, and on the Bulls.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 10:35 AM) If you were recalled from Rockford to Chicago for cap reasons but do not play, do you think you personally would still drive to Chicago to get out of Rockford for some respite? First, yes. Having grown up there - there's nothing better than leaving Rockford. It's awful. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 10:37 AM) IIRC, they do need to go to the team facility and practice with the team. Yeah, the Hawks used to pay for limos. I imagine they have a partnership with Uber or some drivers on staff at this point. At least 90 finally opened up.
  18. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 12:16 PM) Man, you are full of hyperbole when it comes to movies and TV. At no point during Interstellar did it ever cross my mind as one of the best in any way, let alone best movie I've ever seen. I was absolutely eating it up the first 120 minutes. It was the perfect film for me.
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 11:18 AM) This is why organizations like the Cardinals continue to compete year after year. What an absolutely phenomenal trade. They also got Walden, who's a stud, on top of Heyward. Nuts.
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 11:10 AM) Heyward and Walden to St. Louis for Shelby Miller and Tyrell Jenkins. Damn. Feel like MLB is going to blow their collective wad before the Winter Meetings again. Someone remind me why I defected from Cardinal fandom? Oh yeah. I was 10. I couldn't watch Cardinals games. And Frank Thomas. Still happy with the choice, but f*** if the Cards aren't a well-run organization.
  21. Ed Davis is a minus-5 in 236 minutes this season, while starting power forward Carlos Boozer is a minus-118 in 277 minutes.
  22. The first 120 minutes of Interstellar were the best movie I've ever seen. Then it got weird. B But I want to see it again.
  23. I have a hard time anointing quarterbacks in this era as the best ever. It's a lot easier to QB when it's illegal to be hit and illegal for dDBs to actually play defense. I'm taking Elway or Montana.
