  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 09:39 AM) So ESPN is just lying when they say the deadline is 4ET? http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/index All trades must be submitted to the commissioner's office by 2 central is what I have heard time and time again. It's not completely out of the realm of possibility that your boys at ESPN messed it up! Maybe Kenny negotiated a later deadline so he can complete his amazing acquisition of Wily Mo.
  2. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 09:21 AM) Isn't the Deadline 4 pm ET? That would be 6 hours away. 3 eastern, 2 central. buckle your safety belts.
  3. It's looking like the trade is imminent, I'm sure this is how it went. Theo: Gimme Dye, take Wily Mo Kenny: No way Theo: Dye for Wily Mo and this kid Delcarmen, you know you love him. Kenny: ...... Theo: Hello? Kenny: Make it Masterson and its a deal. Theo: No, I'll talk to you later. Kenny: Wait, let me sleep on it. zzzzzzzzzzzzzz This takes us up to present day. We will see Pena/Delcarmen for Dye done today by the deadline.
  4. This would be interesting. Seems that all former roiders must go through NYY.
  5. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 11:29 AM) Now we've got a healthy Mike Brown... I've said that many times before... I'm past the point of depending on him and anything we get will be gravy. I love Brown, but depending on him would be foolish and the Bears aren't this year.
  6. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 02:41 PM) From the small sample I have seen of WMP this year alone, WMp makes Manny look like a GG outfielder Over exaggeration of the decade.
  7. QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 02:06 PM) Jermaine Dye-OF-White Sox Jul. 30 - 2:35 pm et The Boston Globe's Gordon Edes says the Red Sox will not part with either Manny Delcarmen or Justin Masterson along with Wily Mo Pena for Jermaine Dye. Then they're probably not going to get a deal done. Edes says the Red Sox won't give up the young pitcher for a rent-a-player, but it's not just Dye -- it's also the draft picks he'd bring. Masterson was a second-round pick in 2006. The Red Sox would get at least one pick better than that next year if they brought in Dye now and then let him go as a free agent. how many more times can this be posted?
  8. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 01:12 PM) That information from Soxfest is interesting. If the Red Sox are willing to do Pena/whoever for Dye KNOWING that he is a rental, what about a deal with a team who thinks they may have a shot at resigning Dye? This deal doesn't exist, man.
  9. THE SCORE JUST UPDATED THE RUMOR They said it's EITHER Justin Masterson or Manny Delcarmen along with Wily Mo. I like this even more.
  10. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 12:45 PM) No guarantee Pena stays around, and gives the Sox more options for 2008. Once again, the OF is rather scary for 2008. To get a 25 year old with 30 HR pop wouldn't be the worst idea, on top of Delcarmen. That's how im looking at it...
  11. According to the Score just heard that
  12. If ANY year is the Bears' year, this is it. You didn't even mention Greg Olsen!
  13. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Jul 29, 2007 -> 08:42 PM) I guess those commercials with Wade didn't pay so well. OAKLEY not BARKLEY
  14. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 28, 2007 -> 05:48 PM) So you are saying that relievers should come strictly from your own farm system and that they should only be starters that flopped? And Royce Ring and Billy Koch are the great examples of why this is true? Wow im saying dont waste trade bait on relievers... i think bp is the last thing you worry about when you have to fix so many flawed parts of an organization. but read it any way you want. actually doing some thinking instead of blindly accepting all that KW does might be a neat thing to try for ya.
  15. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 28, 2007 -> 12:58 PM) so you just ignore your biggest weakness to shore up other parts of the team? look if KW was only looking at only bullpen help and nothing more id agree with you....but i have zero problem with him looking to bolster the pen, why do you? Dude, that's just it... he's already made moves for BP... he's moved the pieces you move for bullpen, and got a bunch of castoff bulls***. You just don't trade for middle relief, plain and simple. You want prospects? Get a starter... worst case scenario he works out in the bullpen. I know its funny to think back to a philosophy that Kenny has been burned on before, but you "just don't trade for relievers" despite what level they are on. Do you draft a reliever? Royce Ring anyone? Do you trade for a reliever? Billy Koch anyone? I'm just incredibly against making moves for relievers, or wasting scout time looking at them.
  16. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2007 -> 04:14 PM) Richar, Danks, and Fields have given me the most excitement from Sox prospects in a while, probably since Crede. That's not really saying much.
  17. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jul 28, 2007 -> 11:49 AM) When the Sox picked up Richar it was to fill the need for an infielder to develop in the system. The Sox gave up a developing OF prospect. I think most observers knew what the plan was when he was acquired from the DBacks. Hopefully he can contribute at the major league level, but it remains to be seen. It's sad that this is seen as some season saving move though. exactly. if he hits .250 I'll be impressed. I'm not trying to be a downer, I'm just being realistic. The whole board is excited over this guy, and I just don't have the confidence in our scouts nor in the assumed idiocy of the diamondback's scouts. we've had incredibly hyped guys come up and stink (Anderson, Sweeney) and they are still trying to sell us on the man with no stick Jerry Owens... just don't be surprised when he hits .230 from here on out and then we trade him for a fireballing, failed bullpen arm. heh. EDIT: I'll be incredibly happy if I'm eating crow at season's end and Richar has hit .260-.280 and shown good potential in all stat categories.
  18. Dye is catching fire at the right time for the White Sox. They should be able to get a decent package for him, and I would be SHOCKED to see him wearing palehose next Tuesday. Begin saying goodbye to our WS MVP...
  19. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 28, 2007 -> 10:00 AM) lol exactly....maybe he hasnt seen the fact that the bullpen has like a 6.5 ERA in the last 50 some games lol lol lol or maybe you don't fix a bullpen when your entire organization is bereft of talent.
  20. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Jul 28, 2007 -> 11:37 AM) How can you gurantee this? what did we trade for him? the whole board is excited over a guy we got for crap... there has to be a reason arizona basically gave him away. on a side note... is it ree-kar or ree-shar?
  21. I guarantee Richar is less than impressive. Has he even been called up yet? EDIT: NM, it pays to read the entire thread. Anyone know anything about his fielding skill set?
  22. WHAT'S THE INFATUATION WITH RELIEF PITCHERS??!? why aren't we ever scouting position players?
  23. He'd be a supurb replacement for Tank. However, the Bears won't even look at him.
  24. Dubee was originally a Duane Schaffer draft pick for the White Sox in 2004. Talk about mixed-messages.
