Just a thought, reports have it that NYM is looking to deal Delgado. If Thome is out for an extended period of time, he could fill in... However, I'm sure his contract would nix any of that... just wanted to get discussion going, while there's no real appropriate place to put this thread (yet).

hopefully soon... i've got him stashed in soxtalk keeper

That's crazy. On a side note, seeing "Governor Schwarzenegger" is still funny to me.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 09:43 AM) I have loved the way they have broken down Ari and how they are rebuilding his character. He has always been one of the strongest, if not the strongest character in the show. The way they pulled the rug out from under him and revealed a different side of Ari has been a really great part of this season to watch. Im really curious as to how Ari got in the good graces of the head of Warner Bros(I think that was the production company) to free up Medillan for Vince. I thought Vince burned that bridge to the ground. Yes, I am interested to see how this plays out. Mediilen seemed like it was dead, but its fairly obvious Ari is going to pull it off and Vince will be back. I adored in an episode a week ago or so, when Ari looked at his screensaver and saw himself and Vince together and started crying. Then he got his "Ari-ness" back and the way he fired that guy was classic. "Tell me if you can read this." Then he scribbles, with his hair everywhere, "GET THE F*CK OUT!" Hilarious.

Garrett Wolfe, NIU, Chicago Bears

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 08:44 AM) Bush is not what fits the Bears needs at all, and he's hurt REALLY badly, so I don't get that love here. I understand for sure that people could be upset over passing Pittman, as he could be a very good pro. I will say they reached a round early for Garrett, but he's a GREAT blocker and pass catcher for a running back and has home run ability, which makes him a perfect 3rd down back and change of pace guy, as well as somebody to stand next to Hester on kickoff returns. He fits EXACTLY what the Bears need if Benson is as good as they think he is. That is the most honest opinion I can give ya on him, having spent 3 years seeing him play every game. He isn't good enough to be a pro bowler, but he can do exactly what they drafted him to do very well. Key is, Benson has to be really good. Check out his numbers over 3 years. He torched Michigan for 150 at the big house, he had 202 yards in one half against a nationally ranked Bowling Green team, he had 225 yards against a Northwestern team that was a 4th and 21 stop against Penn State away from a Co-Big 10 title, he finished his career with 6,000 yards from scrimmage and over 5,000 rushing, and he didn't play a down as a freshman. There are a lot of things you can question, but production isn't on the list. The only slow down he had at all was late last year at times (and he still had almost 2,000 yards rushing), and that was because he was (1) playing for the worst offensive coordinator i've ever seen (enjoy him, Ga. Tech fans), (2) teams had 10 in the box (yes 10) on every play and (3) he was playing with a knee injury so bad he had to sign a waiver before every game so that NIU wouldn't be liable if he was badly injured due to the risk of playing. He's good enough to be what the Bears drafted him for, period. Benson HAS to be good though because Wolfe is not an every down NFL back. voice of reason -
I was actually hoping that Drama would rip his shirt off and decide to challenge UFC guy, but the way it worked out was rather funny... There were a lot of small touches in that episode that worked... and i really need Ari back in Vince's corner sooner, rather than later.

Garrett Wolfe, NIU, Chicago Bears

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 07:35 PM) Yes, and yes. Yet, far be it from me to question his mid and late round selections. His track record now speaks for itself. However, the Garrett Wolfe selection in the third round is very suspect and I believe this will become painfully apparent in the near future. I think we just need to agree that none of us should be questioning any of Angelo's moves. He wanted a back that could catch the ball, he got the best one in the draft at doing just that... -

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 05:30 PM) How many yards did Wolfe have against B10 competition? He did have 171 rushing and 114 yards receiving = 285 total yards against Ohio State... but they weren't any good last year, though. The same things were said about Michael Turner, and all he has done is dominate as a backup at San Diego and garner interest from multiple teams to be their top back... -
This deserves its own thread. I am so excited to see Northern Illinois' very own Garrett Wolfe as a Chicago Bear. I think he is going to be HUGE for this team in his rookie year, bc he changes pace, catches every ball thrown his way, and can break tackles... he will prove to be a huge asset to this team. Go Bears! Go Huskies!

It's turned into slapstick where it used to be pretty damned funny comedy along with a decent amount of drama... the storylines are dead. however, no one can argue with the greatness of the first 5 seasons, and while this season is enjoyable, its definitely not on the level it used to be.

Anyone following the season he's having thus far? Pretty good...

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 01:32 PM) To add some actual discussion to this, if Thome does hit the DL with a rather serious muscle pull I fully expect a move to be made, there are no position players in AAA with a .700 OPS right now so expecting any of them to come up and produce at even a mediocre rate is probably asking a bit much. Dye would probably be moved to the DH spot considering his age, defensive abilities and injury concerns (that's if he's healthy of course). That would make the outfield Ozuna - Erstad - Mackowiak, quite possibly the worst in baseball. Considering an abdominal strain could linger throughout the year especially with Thome's violent swing a bat would probably need to be brought in to make up for the loss. Dye to DH, Sweeney to RF. I don't see Kenny making a move for a bat unless Thome is shelved for something like... 8 months.

QUOTE(Top Notch @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 07:14 AM) If it is photoshop, I wonder what MJ's doing in the original. Two dogs? That's obscene, inappropriate, and blasphemous... Everyone knows its three dogs and a Chinchilla.

It was ok... I disagree on Keri Russell's hotness. The show seems to jump around a lot lately... but one thing is for sure, I can't take much more of Elliot's incredible cleavage without seeing more! It's a joke people... but a serious one.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 09:07 AM) I think its funny that EVERYONE that crashed on this island has such great principal and an ironclad word. Everyone is always saying "no, i gave him my word." Yeah, whatever happened to... "you have my word." then 20-minutes later... "eat s***, you're dead..." and kill the somb****. I mean, thats what the OTHERS would do...

Ervin Santana is utterly retarded on the road. We SHOULD score at least 5 off of him.

QUOTE(Phil McKrevice @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 03:25 PM) Are you watching WCIU over Comcast, or OTA? I find that over the air, 26 has some of the best HD sports coverage out there. They're putting the finishing touches on their new all-digital broadcast plant, so I would think it should be. Through Comcast. How would I go about watching it OTA? Do I have to run another cable line and then search for the weird like 84.2 stations or whatever??
-
"Chances are, one of them my be one of my kids... but i dont care! Go Bulls!"
-
I am sorry, but something needs to be done. There is no reason that ESPN HD should be blacked out on nights that WCIU has telecasts. This always happens, and I don't believe Comcast should have the right to blackout a better feed to show us a s***ty WCIU feed. I was so frustrated last night when I went to turn on the game and had to watch it on awful WCIU, when a gorgeous ESPN broadcast was out there... Also, what is up with Comcast Sportsnet's HD broadcast? It's awful compared to other stations. When ESPN shows highlights, I see NESN and YES and Fox Sports West or whatever all have gorgeous HD broadcasts... what gives, why can't they get their s*** right?? thoughts?

Am I the only one who heard Juliet talking about Sun and that Kate would be next? Is Kate preggers?

QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 10:52 PM) As far as we know, carbon-based is necessary for life, but we certainly don't know everything. I don't know if science has some how (accurately) ruled out other forms of life existing elsewhere. Life is remarkably adaptable, so it wouldn't surprise me if non-carbon life were out there. As Ian Malcolm once said, "Life... finds a way." Of course he was talking about frogs having sex with each other in a movie about dinosaurs being reborn, but heed these words of wisdom, all.
