It would have come off a lot better sans the swearing. That message might get filtered out and never read just because of the "naughty" words. It is BS though...

The best pitched inning in Sox history/Your thoughts
Steve9347 replied to StatManDu's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Mar 21, 2007 -> 12:50 PM) My vote has to go to El Duque as well. If not that then you can look at any of the complete games during the playoffs too. It does seem close minded to assume it had to be from the 05 season but IMO it has to be. El Duque vs. Boston is so the obvious choice. Nothing else compares. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 19, 2007 -> 08:34 PM) So, from what I read the knock on Russell is that his fastball has basically no movement and his breaking pitches arent exactly MLB quality. From what I have seen this spring he has been experiementing with different arm angles. Today he struck out I believe Emil Brown on a contreras-like fastball breaking in to RH batters. I like what this giant kid brings to the table. Also in the game today I was more impressed with Gio that I have been in quite some time. His control is obviously not there yet, but its a definite possiblilty that he can be a top of the line guy in the majors. His fastball does stay up at a good velocity. He has the ability to run the fastball in on righties and away from lefties. He also has a couple of good breaking pitches. I think in 2 years this guy is firmly planted as the #2 guy in the rotation. In Russell's last outing, I was blown away with how good he looks. Even if it is a straight fastball, the thing is coming in at 95-96 mph. Plus, I recall his switching arm angles almost with every pitch. I like him for the future. I don't know about #2 in the rotation, but #4 is a distinct possibility. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 20, 2007 -> 12:19 AM) Take that Jon Garland you candy ass b****! Ha, the soul patch quote is great!

Ricardo Patton to NIU

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Mar 19, 2007 -> 02:36 PM) agreed, patton does get quality players and he may be able to work his own pipeline into chicago. That's what they thought Judson would do... hopefully Patton does much better! -
ATTENTION KEEPER LEAGUE PLAYERS!!!

who needs a catcher? i've got victor martinez and joe mauer, willing to deal either of them. -
For me, the one thing I know is that Tadahito has been one hell of a productive 2-hitter... moving him is a bit odd.

I thought this could be a fun thread... we all know about the Alex Gordon's, Chris B. Young's, and Carlos Quentin's... who's your under the radar spect you think is going to break out. Mine is Corey Hart OF - Milwaukee Brewers. I've seen him go undrafted in the two league's I'm in that I wasn't present at the draft, but I've taken him in the last couple of rounds in the ones I have attended. I could see Hart easily hitting for a .280 average with 30 homers and 75-95 rbi (depending on his position in the lineup.) Ned Yost is currently leaning towards batting him higher than originally expected (5th or 6th). So you should all run out and pick him up! I'm interested if anyone has a hotshot young SP they think will break out this year (not a guy like Adam Wainwright that everyone is talking about!)

The Brandon McCarthy-John Danks/Nick Massett deal
Steve9347 replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 12:17 PM) Or the Rangers team could be contracted and McCarthy ends up right back with the Sox. It's been 3 f***ing months, little early don't you think? I was projecting my thoughts on the fact that people overreacted to KW being in love with a player, when in fact I think it was Daniels overpaying for a less than spectacular McCarthy. So no, I don't think its a little too early. -

I am sure this is a bit premature, but I was thinking in the shower these morning (take it easy, ladies) about the BMac for John Danks, Nick Masset, Jacob Rasner deal. At first, like all, I was skeptical. The local papers all reported that Kenny Williams was "in love" with Danks, and that's why he made this trade. However, I think this may have been a veteran GM taking advantage of Jon Daniels, whom I believe is still the youngest General Manager in the game (29 at the time of the trade, if I am correct). Brandon McCarthy had become "hot" as far as young pitchers go on the Major League Baseball circuit. But what is it that he does particularly well? He was a low draft choice, who had one incredibly dominant spring, and finished 2005 incredibly well en route to being left off a World Series Championship playoff roster. He has a low 90's (if that) fastball, a solid curveball, and an ok change, and gives up way too many homeruns (he's just straight f***ed in Texas)... If John Danks wins the 5th starter spot out of camp this spring (which he's currently the front runner) and Masset keeps throwing the way he has, this could wind up being one of the best deals in White Sox history. Brandon McCarthy had trouble getting anyone out last season, and this spring is not pitching well either. Only time will tell.

QUOTE(VAfan @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 10:46 AM) When this trade was made, I wondered why. And now that we've added other power arms for the bullpen and Aardsma is getting rocked, I am really wondering why. Cotts lost considerable luster last year, but he saved our butts at critical moments in our WS run. What has Aardsma ever done? The only time I've seen him pitch was the ST game against the Cubs this year, and he looked like the worst guy we trotted out that day (though Haeger had no control). Was this trade a big mistake? Discuss. who f***ing cares? cotts couldnt get dick out last year, and he can eat my ass... *this post brought to you by the swear filter...

QUOTE(joeynach @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 01:47 PM) I loved MVP 05 for xbox, then i got a 360 and thought the game would work fine just like halo. WRONG. You cant plays MVP 05 for 360 and this was done my Microsoft on purpose. Some stupid licensing deal or something that doesn't allow a patch on the 360 Hard Drive to allow you to play. Its been documented. Really lame. MVP 05 is the best baseball game ever made. I highly recommend downloading it for the PC and going to mvpmods.com and modding the s*** out of it... way better and more accurate than any game you can buy currently. (there's something about seeing the cell with the retired faces on the wall accurately depicted, as well as any face you can imagine (including john danks)... i love it.

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 08:06 AM) Last night was a decent episode, but it seems like the show is getting off what made it great: Jack Bauer. Jack was in a basement in the corner and not on camera most of the time. While I like the President and Mrs. Logan angle, that should be secondary to Jack trying to save the world. JMO! IMO, this show keeps getting worse and worse. I was OBSESSED with it seasons 1-5, but this year, not so much. They have too many angles and too many storylilnes. We're not getting to see enough of the "badguys" side, Jack has disappeared for more than one episode. I'm just finding myself to be rather annoyed and disinterested in this season.
