QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 12:11 PM) Im not saying thats how you feel Balta, but I want to win again this year, bad. We all experienced what a ride it was in 05, and I want it again. That's exactly my point... I want this BAAAD! Hoping they kick some ass...

QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 11:53 AM) You've heard that around Soxtalk, I would guess. I haven't seen anything from the powers that be to indicate this is their thinking. Yeah, I'm always reading the trash you bastards are writing and taking it seriously... eh, we'll see what happens, i personally would prefer to see konerko-thome-dye, either way i think thome needs to be directly after konerko.

So, I'm sitting here, thinking about how wonderful last season was (and remembering the near collapse that had almost everyone at this site suicidal) and I can't help but be mystified by the possibilities THIS season holds. It has been about ten years since any team repeated World Series Championships, but I crave it almost more this year than last year, because I know how good this can be. I remember watching game 3 of the ALDS last year (we'll refer to this as Game Duque) and watching the Boston fans in the stands, thinking "what the hell do they care? they won this thing last year!" Lowe and behold, I now understand. This White Sox team is stacked this year (only question mark centerfield/health.) We added Javier Vazquez to the rotation as our 5th starter! In his WORST season, he is the best 5th starter in all of baseball, and in the history of the White Sox. Does anyone remember John Rauch, Josh Stewart, and Scott Schoeneweis (sp?) on the 2003 team? That seems like so long ago, but it was only 2.5 years! Anyway, we've also added Thome, and I am extremely pumped about this season. I will stop my gushing rant, and I look forward to DVRing every Sox spring training game... I love this team, and rock on. -Let's go Sox.

QUOTE(ChisoxJones @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 11:05 AM) Hey folks, First time poster, long time surfer. I just want to thank all the Soxtalk posters for the past few years of insight, scoops, entertainment, and simple banter. I have decided to get off the bench and join in from time to time. With all the obvious reasons for good feeling this past year, it got me reminiscing (more than usual) about the White Sox past…….so many memories from Old Comiskey. For instance, I remember Minnie Minoso taking a few minutes to talk to me because I had my # 9 little league jersey. Another time, I was watching batting practice with my glove over the side of the wall on along the 3rd base foul area. Chet Lemon came up to me, talked and watched BP with me for several minutes. Speaking of BP, one time a group of us went up to Milwaukee (before the league change), and while everyone was tailgating, I went in and watched Big Frank take BP. He proceeded to hit 18 or 20 over the left field wall. Insane, I tell you! All these (& many more) lifetime impressions came racing together last October. It was almost too much to truly grasp when it was happening, and to have the culmination of all those memories come together with the 2005 World Series……..well, I am just now beginning to realize that it actually HAPPENED! I am sure many of you have some great memories that came to the forefront when the World Series was won. Anyone wish to reflect on some of those impressionable times that came back to clarity with the championship? Thanks again and looking forward to a GREAT 2006 team and a whole bunch more of great baseball times! ChisoxJones Welcome aboard... Go Sox!

QUOTE(drowninginflame @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 12:52 PM) just curious about this. I believe you'll be getting your tix in March. -
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 11:17 AM) He did lead all Rf'ers in HR's last season, and was the MVP of the WS. I dont know if that means hes in the B category. I would think that Dye is going to have a better year this year, getting the average closer to the .280 range... It takes a while to come back from those injuries, but with two years under his belt, I don't believe there will be as many slumps. Give him the B+ category... for RF especially.
-
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 10:28 AM) Where are you getting this Dye hitting 3rd in 2006? Aside from the fact that Thome is clearly the better choice, everything I've read, including words from Williams, says Dye hits 5th. Do you have a quote from Ozzie or something, regarding this upcoming season? This has pretty much been the consensus that I have heard since he did so well in the playoffs in that spot. I've heard Dye-Konerko-Thome pretty much ceaselessly since the acquisition of Thome...
-
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 01:49 AM) Dye won't ever be a high OBP guy for us but he makes for a perfect #5 hitter with his high SLG and homers. unfortunately Ozzie wants him to hit #3... but he did extremely well in that spot last year, so I'll give the benefit to the manager of the World Champs.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 07:35 PM) Sounds like the Sox brass want a 3-5 of: Dye Konerko Thome Can anyone else attest to this? thats what ive heard.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 11:58 AM) That'd be a good discussion to have. What are some people's favorite childhood movies? The Sandlot Ernest Goes to Jail The Chipmunks Adventure Turtles 1&2 all solid

QUOTE(Spiff @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 12:58 PM) I think Grahame is starting for the US, but I'm not sure. Anyway I'm predicting (and rooting for) a Sweden gold. I like Lundqvist in net and picking Canada to win is boring. Also, hoping Miikka and the Fins can give the Canadians some trouble. Gold: Sweden Silver: Canada Bronze: Czech Republic I would expect to see Ryan Miller (BUF) starting for the US... my medal predictions GOLD: Canada (seriously, have you guys seen their roster??) SILVER: Sweden BRONZE: USA gotta go with the US. This is a hoop dream, but we will see. Regardless, this US team is going to be looking really good in '10, with all of the juniors from last years squad gaining more experience, but right now, they are overmatched...

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 12:53 AM) Sorry, but IMO, after really watching Ruutu, I really dont see him being better than a 2nd line center. If he can score 30 goals a year, great, good for the Hawks, really. However, he was hyped up to be the savior of Chicago. The entire franchise, starting from the top, all the way down needs to be blown up. Ruutu is all world talent. In his rookie season, he finished the season with something like 42 points in his final 36 games, with no one else on the team. However, he has to stay healthy. Here's hoping for next year.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Feb 7, 2006 -> 07:01 PM) Questions: -How do you throw the baseball with the stick without upwards of five errors in one game? Learn how to play. Just release before it turns red. It's quite simple, actually Yes, like any other video game made over the last decade, you just go to the visual options menu and edit what you want. I personally love the behind the pitcher view, its what I used for the last three MVP games by personally going into view (Pitch 6, Bat 1). You probably want Pitch 1, Bat 1. If you have a perfect swing on the ball, it will be a powerful hit regardless. However, if you hold down the L trigger (or L1 or 2 on the PS2) you will swing for power, which lowers your contact. You can also use the R trigger to swing for contact, but this should only be used when trying to move a runner over. Yes, once masterd it makes it feel like you have much more control over your swing Yes, because its supposed to last longer. They added the animation of the catcher returning the ball, batters stepping out, and there should be more hits because it's college. The pitchers have less accuracy, causing counts to go up, and you're not playing with the Chicago White Sox, so that means no back to back to back to back to back to back to back complete game shutouts anymore! The game is excellent!

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 09:23 PM) On a sidenote, is it just my system or do the words like slider and the numbers get blurred on the middle of the screen? I need to figure out if I have a defunked Xbox (I got a warranty so I can return it if thats the case) or if its the game. yeah, your XBOX is probably messed up. i havent had anything like that happen on my box. btw, once you figure it out, load and fire hitting is so much better than the old way.

yeah, not a big deal.

QUOTE(Soxy @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 07:52 PM) It looks likes the season finale is on fox tomorrow (friday night)--I feel like there's been no real promos for it, but I happened to see one getting ready this morning. Anyway, I know there's a lot of AD fans on here, and thought I would put this up so no one misses it. Stupid fox. They take away everything I love. Feel free to discuss that point. c'mon, showtime, help a brother out here. seasons 1 and 2 were the best thing on television, but as an insane arrested development fan, i think the pressure to persue a contract extension got to the franchise, and the show suffered in season 3. However, it was still the best comedy on television in my opinion. I think Showtime should pick up the show, run seasons 1-3, then buy a 4th season to see how it goes. However, one thing I dont want to happen is for them to stop censoring the swearing. There is nothing funnier than hearing Gob talk about his new community idea with curses censored... singles city-sex city-f*** city-f*** mountain... oh that s*** is hilarious! but the censoring of the word f*** makes it a little bit funnier.

QUOTE(MarkBuehrle_TheAce @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 05:31 PM) am I the only sox fan in this forum who happens to beleive that jerry owens should be our starter in center? with him batting second, if he can hit .285 OR higher, and steal 20 bases, then our lineup would be that much more dangerous. case in point, owens would create a lot more opportunities for konerko/thome/dye to get rbi's, and we would sequatially score more runs kind of the useless threads strikes again. mark buehrle IS an ace!

I'm sure that Javier Vazquez owes his entire career to Chris Widger... however, I'm sure that Widger can remember what he did pitch selection wise back in the day to get Vaz back on track. Good info...
