  1. QUOTE(ptatc @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) 1. Webster is a CF 2. It's Royce Ring royce ring was delt for robbie alomar right? yikes, there's a not so good kenny move. id consider it better if it was the first time alomar came to the sox, but i dont remember.
  2. ooohhh eee ooooohhhh and el caballo to name two obvious ones who are now gone. i think we've done rather well. crede was a very important part of our championship team, aaron rowand must be considered panning out. far better than most teams. buehrle, jenks, cotts, thats just on this club.
  3. QUOTE(SnB @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 11:24 AM) this is better http://www.planearium2.de/flash/spstudio!.html i know where you found that link...
  4. Elects both of them as "Men of the Year." I have to say, he's in the hall of fame for a reason. Excellent story. If you have Insider, Click Here
  5. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 01:55 PM) Have you thought to contact the person who put either of the other sets that didn't get bid on which ended and ask if you could purchase it for your 30 dollar price? good point, chances are its a bulls***, malaysian burned dvd for that price, so the guy can probably burn/purchase another really easily.
  6. um, about 95 percent of bids on eBay happen in the final minute. to assume a bid would win 20 minutes beforehand is not a good idea, because there are tons of people watching and waiting till the final minute.

  8. QUOTE(SnB @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 10:30 PM) yay for having a college baseball stadium a few blocks from my dorm. I'm going to have to go and take pictures for reference when i create it in the game. methinks the create-a-stadium feature will not be very good, ala MVP 05. that was one of the features I was most excited for, and it was awful. pick the color of your seats, pick between three outfield walls, there's your stadium.
  9. we must realize that this is a very tiny blurb in a trib article. there is no evidence that there is any truth to it. i see something in the future... hmmm, my crystal ball says contreras signs for 9 million a seaon over 3 years (27 million). thats what i feel.
  10. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 09:58 PM) thats pretty f***ing sweet. Move over to my brother and his halo 2, and make room for me and my MVP 06 . well, im still down with the halo 2, but i dominate mvp online, and 06 shall be no different.
  11. wow, first, look at what this game looks like (MVP 06). When the game is hooked to the internet (XBOX Live), it streams a live sports ticker at the bottom. AND, while fooling around in menu's and what not, it automatically plays ESPN Radio updates every 20 minutes. I cannot wait for this game! Link to IGN's information on this game
  12. QUOTE(hi8is @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) good deal for both sides. welcome back, AJ. i love you.
  13. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 11:53 AM) How do you know? I can't find anything on that ad that says this. What about the postgame stuff? Edit - I think I see the link now. its the 4 World Series games. that is it. Thus the title World Series. It will NOT include ALDS or ALCS games.
  14. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 04:51 PM) Last I heard, the move was pending Orlando Hernandez's physical. i said this when the deal went down. i didnt think it was a given that he would pass his physical.
  15. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 18, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) Who knows? It might be all games simply because it would cost tons of cash to buy the HD rights I'm assuming. BTW, if anyone is recording Game 1 on the computer, would you please be so kind to upload it or put it on torrent? i recorded it on computer, but it would take a decade to upload a three hour game

    WBC

QUOTE(Pierzynski 12 @ Dec 18, 2005 -> 06:10 PM) WBC looks like a joke. it sure seems that way... when Cuba is not allowed to participate, that takes a lot of the fun out of it. my interest is to see these non major leaguers facing major leaguers. i dont agree that these guys should be in the Olympics, though. to take two weeks out of the major league season would be insane.
  17. QUOTE(hi8is @ Dec 18, 2005 -> 03:20 PM) my dad is an alcholic.... who has been sober for 25 years.... im 23 my mom's father was an alcholic who had died before i was born my mom's mother was an alcholic who had quit before i was born my dad's father was an alcholic who had quit before i was born so growing up, i wasn't around any sort of drug or alcholic abuse.... but when i started drinking, i wasnt like other people. there is something inside of myself that isnt the same in other people.... some people can have 1 drink and walk away.... if i have 1 drink, its the chain in a long line for the day, week, or month....... its a genetic pre-disposition to addiction.... i honestly believe that if i didnt have addicts on both sides of my family, i wouldn't drink like i have. if you think its an excuss.... thats cool, just your point of view.... just telling you mine. hey, i understand... its hard. my dad's father was an alcoholic and drank himselve to death, my mom's mother is an alcoholic (recovering) however, that did not effect my pops, nor my mother, nor myself. i didn't mean to offend, i feel badly for those who suffer through alcholism, but it is a choice.
  18. i got chills watching AJ's 3-run shot in the first... God, I love that team.
  19. QUOTE(Steff @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 05:39 PM) From my experience.. that is incorrect. The gene present increases the odds of becomming an abuser. If I had to guess.. I would say the % of alcoholics who had parents who were is pretty close to 100% No, if you never touched it, you wouldn't become an alcoholic. But if you did, your chances are greater that you would. im more a fan of the "nurture" view, rather than nature. if someone has alcholic parents or an alcoholic parent, then obviously this person would be around alcohol often as a child and a teen. this could lead that person to become an alcoholic, too. genes have nothing to do with it, and alcoholism is not a disease. people with cancer don't choose to "drink" their cancer every da... that is an insane concept that is just used as an excuse. im mean, come on, do we call smoking a disease? thats addictive, too. im not trying to offend, its the truth.
  20. Anyone who hasn't read "The Ten Things You Can't Say In America," by Elder, is missing a golden publication. I recommend you all go out and get a copy, and read it yourselves... very well written book.
  21. my hope is that someday i can throw an inning of scoreless relief. if that is the case, i am guaranteed to get paid by todays standards. Braden Looper 13 million?? that's nothing compared to the worst signing of all time... BJ Ryan for 47 million dollars. BJ Ryan. He had a half a season of closing well for a bad ball club, and he got 47 million dollars. That's just f***ing insane.
  22. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 10:25 PM) holy s***. After this post, it just dawned on me how good we can really be with tejada. amazing... amazing.. is this really a possibility? am i dreaming? under the radar? we're already good without him, though. we did win the world series! he'd be nice, but he costs too much, in my opinion.
  23. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 07:11 PM) Do you imagine what Beane could do with Garland and Zito? Hell, he'll be able to flip both of them to Texas for Mark Texieria. nothing like getting two pitchers for one year before they "test free agency" for possibly the best young hitter in the game.
  24. Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew if a station that is recievable in the Chicagoland area caries Cardinals games. It would be a real treat to listen to Rooney call the games against the White Sox on June 20 - June 22... I'm sure that will be an emotional series for him.
  25. Well, first of all, I must say that the tears came to the eyes while watching this DVD. It was very nice to see the story of the entire season, rather than just the series. There were many, many comments by players and especially Don Cooper that are hilarious and truly make the DVD special. It is not perfect however. It seems that they revel a bit too much in the matchups against the Cubs. Whatever, not a big deal. This DVD is special. However, the single-most disappointing thing about the DVD resides in the special features. They have the Chicago White Sox 2005 Player Introductions (which involves the greatest video of all time). It starts out wonderfully, with the slow music going over the stills of White Sox historia. I had it cranked as loud as my system would go! Unfortunately, when things pick up, set to the same amazing video segments is NEW MUSIC! No longer is it the music from, I believe, "Pirates of the Caribbean," which kind of takes you out of the moment. If you are going to bother putting together a DVD, purchase the rights to that music to make it great. At least I have the actual intro from the day of the parade. Of course, this does not ruin the DVD at all. There is a lot of "Ticker Tape" footage in the special features, along with extra highlights from the season, and pointlessly a little documentary on the Go-Go Sox that was enjoyable to watch. It was fun to listen to interviews of players during the course of the season, and to see Shingo out there on opening day getting the save (I was at that game, and it seems like so long ago!) Overall DVD grade: A- Comments: Very well put together; will have any true White Sox fan tearful and wanting to watch it again right after the end. It is better than the MLB World Series Production because the first 45 minutes is based on the regular season, with all of the best highlights. Highly recommended!
