QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 09:34 PM) Rich family? full of s***? 25 x 52 = 1300 per year... take that at 3.5 years thats only $4,550. now, that means youve already dabbled into over 450 dollars worth above, and now plan on blowing another 450. now, i doubt as a 19 year old working at wac arnold's or wherever it may be, you can afford to spend that much. admit it. you're full of s***. its ok.

Thought you guys might want to vote for the quote of the year Vote for Quote of the Year Personally, I'm voting for Ozzie making fun of Joe Crede at DH, because that has always cracked me up. Of course, a soxtalk favorite, "Where would he play?" is also nominated.

I've been saying that Garland part for a month now.

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 10:53 AM) I'm really sick of the crap that gets thrown at sabremetrics around here sometimes. Nobody is advocating putting Stairs at leadoff. Nobody is "undervaluing" speed. This article seemed like a pretty fair analysis to me. thank you, bill james

wow, this is huge. Vazquez has the ability to go for a Cy Young with 200+ strikeouts, and I think Coop could do well for him. I would rather deal Garland than Contreras, but either would be ok in my book because they would both be hard to sign. Jon doesnt seem to fit the goofball psyche of this team, and I don't think he wants to stay in the midwest... of course, the midwest is not exactly out east, where Vazquez has b****ed he wants to play for some time now (however, i say that he should have actually gotten someone out while in NY and it would not have been a problem).

a completely uninformed commentary. If Podsednik was dealt, who leads off? Konerko was cheaper than Furcal, a career .284 hitter, who has never hit .300. eh, what can you do. I just dont think he understands the value of Podsednik, then he says that 13 million/year was below market for Furcal... this is totally contradictary.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 06:57 PM) I vote for it to stay the way it is. Its a great source of general baseball news, but its also a great source for any White Sox rumor. If there were seperated it would be too diluted. Some great discussion has been going on there. good point.

Simple solution... Just rename Trade Winds to... Sox Trade Winds or Sox Trade Speculation

wow. im starting to get nervous about the white sox' need for a second lefty out of the pen...

Give AJ what he wants and be grateful we have a great catcher, I say. -
This guy has something against Carl Everett, to say the least. I guess he ignored him the past two years when he was a great teammate on a championship ballclub.

QUOTE(Hawkfan @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 05:07 PM) marte is the s***... do any of you watch baseball.. at anytime other than september of 05? wow, looks like someone just looked up marte's stats over the last few years and said, "whoa, an ERA under 3!" Hawkfan, I understand you just jumped on board, and probably only watched the sox in september/october 05, but Marte has been a head case for the last two years, was in Ozzie's doghouse, and genuinely walked every damned batter he saw over the course of the last three monthts of the season... including the playoffs. Now, welcome to being a Sox fan, but watch some games before you say "Marte is the s***," because he is not the s***. He is the un-s***.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 12:21 PM) You forgot the Widge. i believe he was referring to those who play the outfield
-
he, ok mike. moving to new york, giving up one homerun and then getting booed the rest of the season. that should be really good for you and your family. especially when the death threats start coming. see you in october, if you get there.

rincon = good option

I'd say the Braves replaced Furcal rather easily... However, the Red Sox did not get hozed. Andy Marte is going to be a big time player in this league. How many times have 2 Marte's been dealt in one day?
-
the Braves finally get hozed when acquiring a pitcher... EDIT: mie speleeng iz baad.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 11:37 PM) This doesn't really make much sense to me. This is obviously a straight payroll dump by the Rangers. Wilkerson is a darn good hitter, but Soriano is better and it doesn't sound like they are getting anything else. The question is, where is Soriano going to play since the Nats have Vidro. I believe this was the second step in getting rid of A-Rod. It seemed as if they were never happy with A-Sor, and just wanted to get rid of him. Wilkerson will be a stud in Arlington, though... This trade is good for Nats to put asses in the seats, but Alfonso Soriano is the most overrated player in baseball until he moves his stone hands to the outfield. Reality is not fantasy, where Soriano is a 2B stud.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 07:08 PM) Only one thing, Lowe is a workhorse without any serious injuries while Brad Penny has had some injury problems. For that reason alone I'd probably part ways with Penny before I parted ways with Lowe. The sinkerballer Lowe would be a good pickup for the Phils though (considering there park). neither of them is nearly as valuable as Abreu. Lowe never knows if he wants to be good or bad, and Penny is always injured and getting older.

all of these teams sign these players and want to get rid of them a year later... its funny. i am so glad that we have a headstrong general manager who thinks beyond next year, and never gets caught in a contract he doesn't like/can't buy his way out of.
