QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 01:32 PM) Peter Gammons is reporting on ESPN radio that the deal is done. Twins get: Luis Castillo Marlins get: minor leaguers Travis Bowyer and Scott Tyler Bowyer is solid. He might be the best player in the entire deal. Come on, Luis Castillo has so many leg problems he's not worth top minor leaguers, and that is what Bowyer is. Luis Rivas has more value than Luis Castillo... I hope.

yeah, Reinsdorf, yeah!

We're up by 7 in the 4th quarter on ESPN. Please, God, let it end in victory!

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 10:25 PM) And yet EA rushes alll there work and there games are s***................ :banghead :banghead confused. EA's MVP series is phenomenal, but will not have MLB licensing this year. 2k Sports has exclusive MLB rights. That is s***.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 10:12 PM) Correct. A college mvp game instead. the sweet PING of the aluminum bats will be nice, but i was looking forward to MVP with Konerko or Buehrle on the cover...

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 09:44 PM) Game came out im pretty sure before the playoffs even started, and I have talked to a few people, Jenks and McCarthy arent even in the game. well, that would make it pretty damn gay, now wouldn't it? just googled it and you are right, it came out on september 18th.

How odd is this? A video game re-released because of how "good" the playoffs were this year. You can actually start the season 120 games into it with the records and stats identical to how they were in reality, and you can also relive moments from this post season. It might just be worth it as a White Sox fan, but i dont understand if there is a national craving for this game. It should be neat to check out though. It also comes with a Special World Series DVD.

QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) I know someone who's seen Gathright play a ton of games in the minors, and he continues to state he's extremely, extremely overrated. He has the lightning speed, but besides that, he's below average in almost every other possible attribute required to be a good MLB player. good information.

i think jon will get 6.5 in arbitration. he wasnt such a huge piece to the puzzle that i wouldnt consider trading him at peak value before he gets paid. the risk of him reverting back to 12 win jon are there. however, the motherf***er was awesome in the playoffs... so whatever happens with jon will make me happy.

QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) the cubs are so great that they can trade other teams teams players. wow, we really got hozed on this deal, i think. rowand was a big part of our team chemistry, and for the cubs to just trade him like that really hurts us going into the 06 campaign. just another genius jim hendry move while ken williams sits on his ass and does nothing.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 08:40 PM) because hs isn't gone yet. In other words while it will probably not happen, stranger things have happened. Um, it would be absolutely pointless to sign Frank Thomas to a bench deal. He would help our team in no way.

QUOTE(timotime @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 08:40 PM) i read recently that baldelli is signed to a major deal, i think it was 4 or 5 years for a decent chunk of change. anyways, baldelli is all they got, i dont think they would want to get rid of him. ideally, hes the man who they would want to build a team around. that said, baldelli is their best player, and he is just straight up a sweet player. it would be incredible to top this offseason off by puttin him in CF, but thats a pipe dream, in my opinion. i dont know anything about the other players they have, but im happy with anderson in CF. after signing kong today, i say we roll with exactly what we got. anything less than a WS and i am going to s*** bricks. I don't think Baldelli is even close to their best player. Carl Crawford has that crown easily... However, you're right about his contract. During a simple google search, I discovered he is in the beginning of a 6-year, 32 million dollar deal. He's not coming here!

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 06:56 PM) "Where there's thunder, there's lightning" Konerko on the left... "Where there's thunder" Thome on the right... "there's lightning" TM* Anyone? Anyone? Thome should be included with Konerko on the thunder side... and Podsednik should be on the lightnigh side with Willie Harris...

That banner could be perfect if you would add the Big Hurt next to Aaron...

I was just curious and thinking about Tampa Bay. This is pure speculation on my part. I know that they want to spark some sort of deal, and I'm sure I heard that they had interest in Damaso Marte. I mean, hell, their motto is "under construction," so obviously they are willing to deal. With Crawford, Gathright, Baldelli, Gomes, and even Aubrey Huff, the one thing that Tampa has is outfielders. I would love to see Rocco on the Sox batting 8th (or even 9th) and Gathright could actually do the same. What is the feasibility of this? EDIT: The Sox have had good luck with taking on players after injury by bjying low (Flash, Dye, Eldred) Perhaps El Duque could even be thrown the D-Rays way because of the East Coast's familiarity with his big game pitching...

QUOTE(TheHammer @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 06:00 PM) I like the idea of batting Iguchi leadoff and Podsednik second. Iguchi no longer has to give up at bats (His .342 OBP wasn't really worse than Pods at .351 anyway). We would end up getting a lot more power from the leadoff spot which I would argue is better than having that power in the two hole. He gets more extra-base hits than Pods which means he would score more runs. Also, Pods used to disrupt pitchers to get Iguchi better pitches. That did some damage. How much more damage would it do it more of his disruption came with Thome and Paulie up. Yeah, this is a genius idea. Someone call Ozzie. Worst idea ever. Scott Podsednik works the count, draws walks, hits doubles, and steals if he doesn't. I just can't fathom how you could even possibly offer this as an idea. I figured by moving Iguchi you meant down to 6th. We have a leadoff man, possibly the best in baseball behind Carl Crawford. Teams spend out the ass for a leadoff guy of Podsednik's calibre (look at the bidding war for Furcal). Pods is our boy!

Paul Konerko for 60 million... is this the largest contract we have ever given out? Anyone with that information, let me know!
-
Frank Thomas is the greatest player in White Sox franchise history. It is unfortunate to see him go, but also best for the team. Hopefully in a few years he will come back ala Harold Baines, but right now he doesn't fit. I hope he plays again, but no matter what, he should make the Hall of Fame, and #35 WILL be retired. I love Frank Thomas. Period.

Konerko to be on the Score any minute now
Steve9347 replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Konerko + Thome for the next three years. Holy s***. -
Miller more expensive than Bud? That's unusual.

For those of you who missed it, turn on the Score at 5:20 to hear the entire Paul Konerko interview. Welcome back, Paulie!

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 03:24 PM) Plus I think the Sox will resign AJP and Garland to extensions. that goes without saying. those two will be back for 3 years apiece

welcome back paulie. as clark w. griswold would say, "Merry Christmas... Holy s***!"

holy hell... it would be nice to see posada out of NY... i hate that goofy-nosed bastard!
