Bulls will roll.............
-
I believe I will be attending, because the DVD comes with it. I will see other Sox fans and I am sure for that amount there will be players present. Let's go White Sox...

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 12:07 AM) You are comparing pretty different eras in baseball, even if 2002 is only 4 years ago. Jim Thome was also 31ish in 2002, and anywhere from 26-34 is the prime of a player's career. Jim Thome is on the wrong side of that time period. If given the choice between Jim Thome and Andruw Jones this year, I would say to give me Jones any day of the week. He strikes out like hell, he has a hole in his swing, but he hits the ball with a ton of power, and has very good defense in CF. The fact that he's younger doesn't hurt either. Not saying I don't like Thome... sure, i would also take miguel cabrera, a-rod, albert pujols... unfortunately we can't have everything we want AND fortunately we did win the World Series, and if we re-sign Paulie all we have done is replace Carl Everett with Jim Thome. Not a bad off-season's work.

I knew Tim Thomas would be awful and he wouldn't fit on a Skiles team. Come on, the guy has had world class talent, and half assed work ethic since he joined the league. It's not too hard to see where this would have ended up.
-
let's go paulie... come on home.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 08:48 PM) See Billy Koch. Koch didn't lose velocity because of age. it was all mental with him. either way, 10+ million for a reliever, someone who only comes in when your team has the lead? whatever, Mets will still suck.
-
good to see loaiza get paid. he was the man on the south side for a year, and he is what got us our Ace in the 2005 Playoffs when we won the World Series.
-
um, hey guys. we won the f***ing world series!!

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 05:21 PM) Apparently the Cleveland Plain Dealer feels jilted QUOTE Given his choice, Jim Thome would have preferred to be playing for the Indians next year. The Indians considered it before Philadelphia traded Thome to the White Sox. Here's what the Phillies asked for when they met with the Indians at the general managers meetings in early November: outfielder Coco Crisp, top pitching prospect Charles Lofgren and another prospect. -- Cleveland Plain Dealer -- Cleveland Plain Sore Losers Cleveland Plain Pussies.

Wow, Jim Thome is so going to rock.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 02:38 PM) Yankee fans> Sawx fans > Cub fans Sawks Fans> Cubs Fans> Yankees Fans come on, im a die hard white sox fan, but the true cubs fans have been tested, while yankees fans have gotten their proverbial dick sucked every 5 to 10 years for the last 100 years. 25 championships? it takes no class to be a yankees fan! Red Sox fans proved their worthyness to me by giving our boys the standing O at Fenway. That, my friends, is class.

QUOTE(spataro51 @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 12:41 PM) You can put it on the board YESSSS!!!!!!! I like the banner.....................makes me even more happier to be a sox fan, so long aron you will be missed but..... Thome Welcome Home! I made a point to show my pops that banner. How kick ass is that? Someone should e-mail that to Brooks, because the White Sox would be nuts to not make a commercial based on the idea. Seriously.

QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 11:13 AM) someone's excited for his mashed potatoes. I'm all bout the Sweet potatoes. EDIT: and stuffing, and turky, and blowjobs...

QUOTE(jenksd @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 09:13 AM) Just watching the highlights of this game made me wish I was a hockey fan. jenks. jump on board, brother. now is the time. come see some good games at the UC! anyway. I would take Ovechkin over Crosby. Sidney was hyped because he was the next Great One (Canadian) However, Ovechkin is a Russian God, bent on nothing but goaltender destruction. He's pretty damn good. TO THINK THE HAWKS MISSED OUT ON EITHER OF THESE GUYS BY ONE f***ING PICK!!! 2005 Draft Order 1. Pens 2. Caps 3. Hawks So unfortunate.

oh goodness. how pointless

one sentence on what to do with El Duque... HE GONE! or put him in the bullpen, but our rotation is quite set next year 1. BUEHRLE 2. CONTRERAS 3. GARLAND (if we pay him!) 4. GARCIA (easily the BEST 4 pitcher in the league 5. B-Mac After McCarthy was sent down, I was worried about him, but his September call up assured me that he will finish this year with a 3.50-4.00 ERA and about 130 strike outs. Very good numbers.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) at this point IMO Frank contract with incentives > 14 m Konerko yeah. unfortunately you forget to think before you speak. thome is not going to play 1b. there is no reason to have a guy throwing who can get injured in that action when he can hit 50 and drive in 120 for you if he stays healthy. (holy s***, think about those not too far fetchd numbers!) Now, Frank is not a 1B anymore either, and we're not going to have two HOF DH's on one team, bc Thome is the starter, and Frank needs to play everyday to be effective and to pay him the 2-3 mill he will want. Frank is gone, God bless him. Let's worry about Paulie. Bring Frank back as a bench coach in 2 years after he spends a year with the Orioles (guessing)

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) Those reports are wrong. On Comcast SportsNet, they said that Thome wanted to get to Chicago by tommorow morning to take his physical, but there's nothing but delays on the plane, so he was thinking about driving tonight so he could get here tommorow. sounds like Jim is pumped to be on the South Side. GENTLEMEN! This is just the beginning of what winning a World Series does for your ballclub. I don't care if he is from Peoria or not, Thome does not accept a trade to the White Sox if we're not coming off of what we did last year. Kenny and Ozzie have created a South Side beast that is not stopping until it drinks the blood of 31 more ballclubs next year as well and for many years down the line. f***ing rock and roll. man, its good to be a southsider...

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 01:19 AM) My heart hurts for Rowand, but my head wonders if pitchers would finally find out that the slider down and away really is a weakness. SB hahhaa. im sure you and i noticed it but major league scouts didn't. Rowand has obviously slapped enough low outside sliders the opposite way that pitchers can't get him out everyday. however, crash wasn't good enough that we didn't steamroll in this deal. philly freed up about 5 million (what? haha!) in the deal, but they, being in the NL, had no where left for thome, so we ripped them off. rock and roll.

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 04:17 PM) I really don't see what the fuss is about Juan. IMO, it is in no way worth it to trade any prospect for him, when a better option in B.A. already exists. The Sox offense needs to get better, not worse, Pierre was worse than Rowand offensively, both for his career and in 2005. I believe Anderson has to be at least on par with the Rowand of 2005, with slightly worse batting being offset by slightly better defense. Throw in the fact that his is going to be over 3.5 million dollars cheaper than Pierre, and it's a no brainer. nice research. im fine with throwing Brian Anderson out there, bumping him at the 8 position, and moving Crede up to Rowand's spot. Our lineup, praying the Paulie is back, is then... 1. Pods 2. Gooch 3. Dye 4. Thome 5. Konerko (maybe you moved Thome and Konerko up a spot, bumping Dye down to 3, but in the World Series, Dye was quite good in the three-hole) 6. Pierzynski 7. Crede 8. Anderson 9. Uribe I think Juan turns the lineup over quite well for Podsednik. I said it last year, there are no holes in this lineup. All of these players can come up with a big hit when needed. No need for Pierre, give the kid a chance, and keep the farmhands we have instead of dealing for Pierre. plus we do have 12 guys who throw the ball who are all pretty f***ing good.

QUOTE(dmbjeff @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 05:38 PM) aaron was scheduled for 3.5 mil this yr, so we upped the payroll only 4mil...not bad kenny is amazing
-
The Phillies paid the Sox 22 million dollars of the 43.5 owed to take Jim Thome. That is half of his salary! This man could hit 40 homers easily if he stays healthy! I can't believe KW pulled this off. Paying an athlete only 7.2 million dollars a year for what he can do is a steal. sorry to see aaron go, but this was well worth the risk. i fear this is the end of frank thomas, as thome said he wants to DH.
