no reason to try to steal on rodriguez in that situation. no matter what, we need a hit, and a single scores pods in most cases anyway. bad bad bad decision scottie. lets go garland or hermy... whoever comes in in the 9th, take care of biz.

there have been a few close homers today. lets get pods in.

QUOTE(YahtzeeSox @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 12:09 PM) Ok, I whipped up a petition to send to John. http://www.petitiononline.com/rooney/petition.html It's a lot easier than message board signees, and we can also say that we gave it the major league effort trying to get Rooney to stay. we should make this its own topic at the very top of the soxtalk.com pale hose talk main area.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 06:50 PM) I bet the score wants steve stone to take his place. Though, I love stone, not at Rooneys expense, I will boycott the score from now. who knows if this is the score's call? it sucks either way.

Mike Williams decides NFL playbooks are "good"

1) This is our year. We need to take advantage now. The Indians are going to be VERY good for a long time. The Yanks and BoSox are struggling. This may be our best chance in a long time. 2) Billy Beane really does know what he's doing. Look at the A's. They trade Hudson and Mulder and don't miss a beat. As much as Hawk may hate to admit it, the man knows what he's doing. 3) Scott Podsednik is not very good. Now believe me, I love Pods, but he really has not been as good as we all made him out to be. He has one tool: speed. His speed is VERY VERY GOOD, but not great. His lack of power allows defenses to key in on him and cheat. His defense is not very good, either. However, he is still a good lead-off man, and I am glad we have him, AND I understand that trading El Caballo for him was necessary, because along with him, we got AJ, Tad, and El Duque. BUT he's not that great! That's just my $ .02. Take it for what it's worth.

My first attempt at making a wallpaper

QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) Greasy, I was typing a large response. By moving it, you deleted everything I typed. I will retype it later I guess. Basically Marlinsfan, your images were too small that you used and you need bigger pics. and fewer marlins -
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) What exactly is he 'right' about? you guys acting like cubs fans.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) Great way to start off at the board. Call us Cub fans... when he's right, he's right. welcome tot he board!

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 09:57 PM) You said he pitches 'without balls'. You can get your point across without saying that... But hey, maybe you should get to defending Sean Casey... :rolly come on now, we can't be policing that strictly. that's just ridiculous, downright ridiculous. you should be upset with yourself for taking him so literally.

wow, mark buehrle got tossed for less than that. UTTER BULLs*** THAT HE DOESN'T GET TOSSED! OBVIOUS RETALIATION FOR THE HOMERUNS.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 09:51 PM) From my viewpoint, his change-up was more of his out pitch tonight than his curveball was. That was great to see. When he was getting shelled earlier this year, it was because he had ZERO confidence in his changeup, the pitch that he used as his out pitch in spring training along with that nasty curvebal. This is very good to see.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 09:50 PM) This is the Brandon Mccarthy we're going to be seeing next year and for years after that. Brandon for whatever reason didn't throw his change at all in his first few stints, now he's using it and it's just a very good pitch. Brandon has one hell of a curve, a very solid change and a good fastball, not to mention he throws strikes and knows how to pitch. He is going to be a good one. Great f'n job Brandon At the deadline, I was all for trading BMac. However, I might be very happy now and in the future that we didn't make the deal for Burnett. Contreras + BMac > Burnett Now, let's hope BMac can put together another solid start against Boston... I'm pretty sure that's his next challenge.

BMAC!

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) I don't know how to judge today. I'm happy we won. But we lost one in the L column. But we also lost one in the magic number column. I've questioned how to look at it (so long, of course, as we pull out tonight's game). I wasnt aware that this game was over.

If anyone cares, Cleveland got rained out, and Minnesota is about to win.
