I read the book a year ago, and it was my favorite Palahniuk book. Read my post that is in the regular area of this forum... "Guts" by Chuck Palahniuk. Its a short story from his new book, "Haunted," and quite, kickass...

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 03:40 PM) Darker background, no checkers, no red stroke, drop shadows... Anything else??? sorry soxfan1, but i dont think you're going to fix that ugly thing. it is just, plainly put, ugly as f***. id rather have a wallpaper of a turd. "Boundless Opportunities" = gayish

QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:08 AM) Am I the only one that see's that Pod's has a righty helmet on in this picture. that's why the sox logo was backwards cuz he just reversed the picture. no s***

you boys should get a job with ESPN so you can show them with their caps right away.

QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) yeah i don't think Frank will return either. maybe this is why KW is going after Lowell? I think that would be the only reason... if Lowell could get his s*** back together over the course of the final 60+ games it could be steal-city.

I wouldn't mind seeing it, but I don't think he will get opportunities this year. You have to go to Politte if Hermanson is unavailable.

Tony Amonte's contract bought out...

QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) Thank you, I said this in a thread a few months back and got grilled. He just wasn't a go-to guy. The playoffs against the Blues showed that perfectly. Tony needs help. Those playoffs we were without Alex Zhamnov, which had a huge impact on Tony's play (or lack therof). -

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 03:48 PM) Sassone says that rumor has Amonte signing in Phoenix back to pheonix? geez, he already spent a whole 40+ games there! -
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 03:53 PM) This sucks for Frank and for the Whitesox. Hopefully its not as bad as it seems. He was an intimidator in the lineup and as a PH. he gone

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) The Sox have the 4th best Avg. against lefties in MLB. We're currently hitting .291 vs. left handed pitching. I would say that is our strong suit on offense, definatly not where we're lacking. we may hit for a high average, but we don't score for some reason. I agree with you though, however, I think Lowell would look good as a backup DH against lefties, bc i dont think frank will be back.

Alright boys, this is not for the faint of heart. Chuck Pahlaniuk is one of my favorite authors (Choke, Invisible Monsters, Fight Club, etc.) His most recent book is called "Haunted" and hit shelves in April. Anyway, it is a collection of short stories that are true, and truly messed up. This is a first-person retelling of an event that happened to some poor schmuck, called "Guts." I implore you, if you can't take some sick s***, then don't read this. During public readings of this short story, people have vomitted and fainted. You've been warned. enjoy.

We will not see Frank again this year... maybe not again in a White Sox uniform, ever. I'm happy that if it had to happen, it happened before the trade deadline.

didnt see this posted... from the Miami Herald it's all us, boys.

Let's go boys, take care of business in KC, baby!

Eh, don't let this bother you guys. The talk in Bawston all week was that they were going to come in and sweep. For being such a behemoth hitting team as Boston, what were the scores? 5-6 (3 errors) 8-4 0-3 6-4 Hmmm we had the single highest run output in a game, and outscored Boston by two runs over the course of the series. (19-17) What does that say about Boston? If our offense is so bad and strikes no fear into anyone, why did we outscore them? That writer was just blowing smoke...

QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 08:46 AM) Any new talk this morning? Or was it indeed Levine getting us excited for no reason? I haven't heard anything new since yesterday... Shocking, Levine was wrong. How many reports have come out that said a deal was "as good as done." Last week, there was no doubt Burnett was going to the Red Sox, then it was the Orioles, then the White Sox. Nothing is a sure thing until it is done.

best method of buying tickets for a ballgame?
Steve9347 replied to IamtheHBOMB's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 08:40 AM) As long as we are talking about getting tickets to a game, is it better to order online or get them at the park? (I am going to a game on 8/5 and if I don't order before then, I will buy tickets to the 9/24 game that day.) just buy them through chisox.com and print them out. easiest way to buy tickets. -
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 11:43 AM) After last night, thats all I could say. GET ANOTHER BAT. KW, overpay, do what you have to do, the 3-4-5 can be shut down, and has been time and time again. Something needs to be done. Griffey Griffey Griffey Griffey... shall I continue?

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) Joe Crede @ $400,000 - .253/.307/.441 Mike Lowell @ $7,500,000 - .236/.285/.366 Lowell would be decent insurance, however. Wow, its amazing how quickly I can go from hating Crede to loving him, but he's been hitting lately... one of the few.

QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:30 AM) Yeah, i know it's putting the cart infront of the horse, but if the Sox continue their major attendance upswing they'll have no excuse but to add payroll in the offseason. So if this goes down and PK and AJ walk, the Sox would have to add some major pieces in the off-season, which is pretty weak this year. Yeah, hopefully they would be able to hammer out a deal with Burnett if they made the trade. With how much people were paying for starting pitchers in the off-season (Eric Milton, Jaret Wright, Carl Pavano) who knows what these upcoming free agents are going to get?

QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:18 AM) Marte and BMac are too high a price to pay for Burnett, even if he does re-sign. haha, no its not too high a price. a proven starter at the MLB level is always better than a prospect who had one good spring training. marte is good, but not good enough to hold up a deal like this.
