These things are out of hand. Bobby Simms just got 47 million dollars. Eddy Curry will get 800 billion dollars on that scale.

I would be very interested in joining one as well. I promise to participate!

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) Patrick Selin. Remember this name. In ten years, get back to me. I saw some video tape of this kid playing hockey in a camp that I'm sort of helping out with. He's 100% the next Peter Forsberg. They were playing a group of North American kids and won 25-3, I think he had 7 goals and 10 assists, I kid you not. And these kids are not that bad. Hockey camps in Canada are going well... and the NHL has signed some camps with a certain instructor THIS August/September. I think hockey's back, folks! I can't tell you how many times I've heard someone was the next Peter Forsberg. Let's just hope our current "next Peter Forsberg" Tuomo Ruutu didnt spend the last year eating nothing but Big Macs.

I'm sure they will, however, once next season starts, they won't be allowed to. The contract will be solely with ESPN and Sega, and EA will be pushed out of the baseball market. It's too bad EA had to get greedy and purchase all NFL rights, because that ruined their chances of getting baseball rights. MVP is such a great game, I will miss the opportunity to purchase new versions.

The lockout WILL BE OVER TODAY
Steve9347 replied to kapkomet's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Well it will be interesting to see what the Blackhawks do. Knowing their history, they will be cheapskates. As for my dream scenario, it would be the Hawks draft Sidney Crosby, then sign the likes of Marcus Naslund/Peter Forsberg to put on a line with Tuomo Ruutu. It worries me, however, that there is such a wide range in salary cap. The minimum is 21 million, with a max at 38 million. Something tells me Wirtz will keep the Blackhawks below 30 million. The max contract a team can offer is 7.5 million, so these two players are certainly possibilities. Either way, its going to suck when I come back down to Earth and see the Hawks signing Mark Janssens again. -
my big complaint about the game is that it is too easy to put together a god team... im in year 2006 after winning the WS in 2005 with virtually the Chicago White Sox. I have all of my important guys signed, yet still ahve 20 million is cap space. I don't want my team to be too good, so here it is. I took on Griffey just for fun and will let him walk in 07 1. Scott Podsednik (.367 BA because of bunt singles,124 SB and MVP in '05) 2. Tadahito Iguchi 3. Frank Thomas (.347, 43 HR, 137 RBI in '05) 4. Ken Griffey, Jr. 5. Teixiera 6. Rowand (.326, 28 HR, 94 RBI in 120 GP in '05) 7. David Wright (.312, 36 HR, 76 RBI in '05) 8. AJ Pierzynski 9. Juan Uribe I have a feeling that I should be sticking with some real Sox, instead of putting together a freak-GOD team with Vlad, Miguel Cabrera and the sort starters buehrle garcia garland brandon mccarthy scott kazmir (with Edwin Jackson in AAA) relievers are a decent group, mostly current sox (hermanson, politte, marte) with others (jorge sosa, matt riley) Closer is Bobby Jenks (97 mph heater with hard curve and a decent change-up) he's 4-5 in save ops in '06 it's fun... I just always like to be more realistic instead of putting together either way, it sucks that this is the FINAL installment of MVP. I hate ESPN Baseball!

All I know is that we only have 4 starting pitchers on our active roster. either a trade is imminent and KW already has some random man set up... or there is going to be a significant roster move to get both Gload and a starter up here (El Duque/McCarthy/Tracey) The only option of those three is El Duque, and if he isn't ready, there are no options. Cotts or Hermanson? Not Hermanson, he closey, baby. Cotts won't start either. I smell a trade, boys.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 02:58 PM) Yeah, that 4IP and 1ER in Charlotte, just proves it... him out the door. He's done. Holy cow! 4 IP!!! He's ready! if he's ready, I hope that our bullpen is ready to throw A LOT of innings!

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) I was thinking that his throwing session over the AS break got no pub whatsoever. You know if ozzie and KW liked what they saw, it would be all over the media. I dont think he is healthy either. I concur, thanks for the 7 wins el duque, but

QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 02:19 PM) No problem, this wussy weed fan is gonna be at Tom Petty, Motley Crue, Flogging Molly, Reel Big Fish, Coldplay, and the Anger Management Tour, so I'll enjoy those wussy weed bands too! have fun... Crue- enjoy Vince Neil... he can barely speak anymore. Crue rocked 20 years ago, but their show has been in decline for the past ten years + no Tommy Lee spinnnig around in circles over your head with his badass drum set = the crue is dead. Petty - now you're talking. Flogging Molly, Reel Big Fish :puke Coldplay

QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 11:23 AM) I'm SOOO sorry that our musical tastes differ. Should I put a Top-40 artist on there instead and change the title. Incase you didm't know, genius, "The Best of What's Around" is a song by Dave Matthews Band and I thought it went well with Mark Buehrle. Next time maybe I'll put one with George Michael or Boy George on there so it'll make you happy. I'm pretty sure Dave Matthews is top-40. Right now actually. Good point though. PS, I didn't know that was a Dave Matthews song, because I don't give a damn about Dave Matthews. Oh and Wham! had a good song or two! I'll stick with some good grunge... Soundgarden is in my playlist right now. Enjoy your Phish/DMB/John Mayer wussy weed-music, though. I'm happy for you!

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 01:02 PM) And despite that 2005 weakness he is still sporting 7W, 2L, in 11GS. Do you now many pitchers would kill for a record like that after 11 starts? First 5GS, 3W, 1L 2.70E, 30IP, 1.63WHIP - there weren't too many complaints then. Next 3GS, 2W, 0L 6.19E, 16IP, 1.69WHIP - signs of something wrong Next 3GS, 2W, 1L 7.56E, 17IP, 1.56WHIP - signs of it getting worse Yet even when he was laboring through undisclosed pain he still managed to post a 4-1 record. Who is more likely to go 7-2 over his next 11 starts: El Duque, Burnett, or Schmidt? El Duque. It might be ugly but he wins far more often than he losses. It's called luck. he was getting an assload of run support that any pitcher would cream of. To go 4-1 with a combined ERA of 6.85 over a 6 game stretch is just damn lucky. that is all!
