  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 27, 2014 -> 08:19 AM) The 2 hole is one of the most important spots in the lineup Only because it receives more at-bats on the season than the 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 spots in the lineup. Beyond that, I am of the mind that almost every at-bat is in a vacuum. Yes, Hawk Harrelson got into a lot of Sox fans' minds with the Tadahito Iguchi swoonfest in 2005, but the only reason the 2 spot is more important than any behind it is simply because there's more at-bats to be had.
  2. I remember sitting on my lunch break from Blockbuster when these rumors were at their peak in total freak out mode, because I adored Magglio so much.
  3. Avisail will be a stud wherever they put him - might as well be near the top of the order.
  4. Marty St. Louis has requested a trade. Bickell plus prospects/picks.
  5. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 26, 2014 -> 10:24 AM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/s...,0,475825.story Man busted for meth, Im pretty sure thats a Los Pollos Hermanos shirt in his mug shot. Awesome. Ha. What an idiot.
  6. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Feb 26, 2014 -> 07:55 AM) I would be interested in Murphy, but not so much Romine or Cervelli. Honestly though, if the Yankees are interested in Keppinger and are willing to pay his salary, they can have him for whatever they're willing to send in return. This.
  7. I got a nice chuckle out of all the pro scouts in this thread. Thanks, guys!
  8. I'm sure everyone knows by now, but if you don't, Adam Dunn was in Dallas Buyers Club.
  9. Even in this God damned video game. I can't escape it. Yes. This just happened 40-something games into the season. Against the f***ing 76ers, no less.
  10. Wow. I'm glad I checked out this thread for the cactus pictures.
  11. QUOTE (Jake @ Feb 25, 2014 -> 01:00 PM) Urlacher was the ultimate combine warrior 6'4", 258 4.59 40 (ran a 4.49 too, they pick your median time), 27 reps of 225 bench press, 34" vertical, 122" broad jump, 4.18 20yd shuttle, 6.94 three-cone Of OLB, he had the longest broad jump, 5th best 40, best bench reps, 2nd best three cone. Was tied for second tallest and weighed more than all others. If you put him up against ILB at that combine, he would have won every single category, including height and weight. That's why he was a monster day 1.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 25, 2014 -> 12:42 PM) I am shocked at how f***ing awesome this looks.
  13. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 25, 2014 -> 12:26 PM) OK, couple of things. That'd be Streets and San's job. A cop could remove it himself if he saw it (or sit behind it with the lights on if it's too big for an individual to move), but he also is probably more likely already assigned to another job, like people calling for actual police service. And if the police were assigned to the job, it's OEMC that decides the order in which jobs are given out. The vast majority of districts are working with a backlog of jobs. There are people constantly clogging up the system with calls just like this (non-police, non-emergency jobs) all the time, not to mention the serious calls where people are in immediate danger that OEMC jumps to the top of the list, as they should. Rape? SORRY WE HAVE A PIECE OF DEBRIS ON NORTH AVENUE
  14. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 24, 2014 -> 05:37 PM) My office window faces a busy street about ½ block from a semi-busy intersection. Hearing sirens go by is very common, but today at about 3pm I heard a whole bunch of sirens and they seemed to be stopping nearby. I looked out my window and saw a s***load of ambulances and police cars. I figured it must have been a pretty bad wreck. About an hour later, I notice on a local news website that the wreck involved a police car responding to an armed bank robbery about 2 miles away and a car that failed to yield for it. About a half hour after that, my wife called me and in a very urgent voice told me I had to check out the just-released surveillance photos from the bank robbery. I'm at least 90% certain that it's our next door neighbor. That's craziness.
  15. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 22, 2014 -> 09:52 AM) I read $10B was the proposed multiple for DropBox and I crapped myself. Its a f***ing cloud. Maybe I'm a newb, but what the hell is such a difficult barrier to entry. Yes, they have market share, but how the hell are they a $10B (or even worse if it is truly valued at $20B) Company? Where is the logic. Earnings have been growing at a pretty high clip but you or I could start a company up and figure out how to do what they are providing and there are a lot of different people who have big server space out there that could jump into the cloud game to really keep them from ever having enough margins to be extremely profitable. Plus...I think even with all of their sales growth, DropBox is a $200 - $300M per year company in revenues. I can't imagine what Net Income is and EBITDA has to be significantly lower. The multiples of these tech companies are absurd and there is zero logic to them. It's all about users and recurring revenue.
  16. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 24, 2014 -> 10:36 AM) Clowney ran a 4.4... 37.5" vertical
  17. QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 23, 2014 -> 10:12 PM) What bats do you guys swing? Demarini Doublewall
  18. How is throwing $22 million at Scott Kazmir over two years EVER considered a good move?

    2014 TV thread

    QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 21, 2014 -> 02:07 PM) I imagine it'd be hard for a major network to carry a show that's this dark and air it every week at 8 PM. They get to be a lot more explicit on Netflix and that's probably a good thing. Oh, absolutely. It being on Netflix is perfect. The only other networks I'd want airing this would be Showtime or HBO, but I greatly prefer Netflix.
  20. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 20, 2014 -> 10:43 PM) I had a similar issue a year or two ago and sent an email to customer support and they cleared it up no problem. Yeah - they'll credit it without a moment's hesitation.

    2014 TV thread

    QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 21, 2014 -> 10:14 AM) Good to hear, I was hooked after 30 min. How did Netflix get exclusive rights to this show? It's crazy to think the networks passed on it. Kevin Spacey and his group went around and proposed it to networks, HBO, Showtime, etc, and were declined. Then they went to Netflix and Hulu and Netflix wrote them a blank check for two seasons. He told that story on The Daily Show this week.

    2014 TV thread

    QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 20, 2014 -> 01:39 PM) For me, it isn't about the politics. It's about how diablolical the main characters are. Francis Underwood almost makes Walter White look innocent. Frank Underwood is the absolute s***.
