  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 25, 2017 -> 02:34 PM) I love your avatar. Just wanted to say that.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 25, 2017 -> 12:47 PM) Which only goes to prove that the Butler deal was indeed rushed. Exactly. Bulls management are a bunch of clowns. But we had to lock down Lauri Markkonen.
  3. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 25, 2017 -> 12:26 PM) All reports were that this type of package wasn't available for Jimmy Butler from Boston though. People can hate the Butler return all they want. My point was that this Kyrie Irving deal has nothing to do with the Butler trade even though people want to make that the case. It wasn't available at that time. Honestly, the fact that Butler and George got dealt likely led to their massive overpay for Kyrie.
  4. Every time this thread gets bumped my heart drops. Glad to see this time it was for good news.

    DC is a clusterf***.
  7. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Aug 24, 2017 -> 06:43 AM) Trubisky is starting the second half of Sunday's game with the starters, this is getting good now. Can't wait for Sunday afternoon. This tells me they must be blown away by him in practices. It's 2017. Quality rookie QB's don't ride the pine for multiple years anymore. Let's go, Mitchell!
  8. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 08:17 AM) I think this is actually solid for both teams. Cleveland did very well getting this much for Kyrie when they basically had to move him. IT and Crowder makes it so they are still the favorite in the East. They may lose LeBron and Thomas after the season but they'll have a high pick and assets to move toward a rebuild if they wanted. From Boston's end, they get 2 years of Kyrie and it's worth it if he re-signs (not sure if that's likely) in Boston. They set themselves up for the future and they absolutely didn't want to pay IT $200 million. As far as the Bulls are concerned, this has nothing to do with Butler. These deals aren't mutually exclusive even though people keep bringing them up in the same context. The Bulls likely wanted this year's pick for Butler. I would have insisted on a pick in this year's draft as well. The Celtics love Jayson Tatum and weren't willing to do that. Why would anyone want this package for Butler? The Bulls have no need for Isaiah Thomas. They are trying to lose as many games as possible. The plan involves possibly landing Michael Porter Jr or Marvin Bagley III. That's the silver lining in the Bulls deal. The Bulls did about the worst you can do in trading someone like Jimmy Butler. They could have saved face by not punting the 1-7, but they really like to faceplant and did a spectacular job of it.
  9. Bears signed LT Charles Leno to a four-year, $38 million extension through 2020. A 2014 seventh-round pick, Leno has started 29-of-32 games the past two seasons. He was Pro Football Focus' No. 53 tackle out of 76 qualifiers last season after checking in at 49-of-76 the previous year. The Bears see upside in the soon-to-be 26-year-old and keep in tact the left side of their line. At $9.5 million per year, Leno is the league's 14th-highest-paid left tackle. This team is run by imbeciles.
  10. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 03:56 PM) I actually don't think it's all that complex, it's just the show writers keeping Baelish in the mix of things (and adding some drama to Winterfell). Baelish stirs things up, he's doing that. Sansa and Arya always hated each other so it's an easy pair to rile up. Arya clearly thinks she is better/smarter than Baelish and he's exposing that. Sansa is probably the most disappointing, she was supposed to have matured and see through the BS better, but she is falling for pettiness and Baelish's whispers. Sending Brienne away is a clear Baelish move IMO, she would have protected both and probably would have caught onto Baelish's schemes. I do think it's leading to one of Sansa or Arya doing something stupid to hurt one another (possibly killing one) before realizing (which is stupid, since they both know his game and should be above it at this point), but probably more realistic is they have a fight and Arya realizes she can't stay at Winterfell and goes south to continue her assassinations. I agree with everything here.

    Job Thread

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 21, 2017 -> 12:40 PM) This has been touched on before, but is there anything to this report that Millennials are a different type group to manage at work? Any managers in here or talent evaluators? Is it true or not about Millennials? Are they good hires or not? From what I've noticed they work as hard as anybody else and take as much s*** from the superiors as anybody else. Every human is different. Studies show that millennials would rather be a part of something big and depended upon to do work that makes a difference than just receive a paycheck. I have a whole department of millennials and, while I'd agree with that, I have some issues with it. No generation has been more aware of its value. Now, in my case, I have young marketers in my department who could go get a new job in 5 seconds. Hell, I'm technically a millennial, and I could go get a new job in a second, too. It's with that understanding that we strive to keep them happy monetarily BEFORE they feel the need to start looking for better alternative. I also tend to dole out responsibility almost too early rather than too late. This results in each team member (department size of 10) having a defined role with a defined career path and a ton of interaction with me as the buffer to the President and the CEO. We also have a lot of events and I order food for the department because the little s*** counts. It works. That said, there's a million ways to slice it, and I'm only talking about those in the business world in a marketing department of a larger company. Also, it pays to ask them about their personal lives. They really respond well to you caring (or acting like you care if you must) about their personal lives and also remembering to follow up when they tell you something big is coming. I also tend to serve as a first-wave of advice for things like owning homes, investing, etc, and they know they can come to me with any work-related issue. I've been in my current position for 3 years and have yet to have one of them quit their job. I've had to fire a handful, but them's the shakes.
  12. This is me watching now. I've decided to suspend disbelief and just treat Sunday nights as movie night. Too bad there's an obscene, pointless wait to finish this thing up.
  13. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Aug 21, 2017 -> 10:33 AM) But didn't they establish earlier in the series that simply dying north of The Wall was enough to create a wight? The one that attacked Jon at Castle Black, for example? And wasn't this idea further established when Jon tells the group they have to burn Thoros so he doesn't turn? So, what's the answer here? Are wights "created" by the main bad guys or are they created once the animal/person dies north of The Wall? My thought here is simply by leaving a dead body lying around, you give the White Walkers a chance to come reanimate the body. By burning the body, there will be nothing left to reanimate, so to speak.
  14. I'm just enjoying it. The conversations had walking toward the dead were worth the commitment the series has been for me alone. The Brienne conversation and making monster babies? s***, that was perfect.
  15. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 10, 2017 -> 09:45 AM) Thanks everyone. I'll make sure to ask Steve going forward about who I find attractive. Good idea. Just shoot me a pm. Luckily for you, chicks like Raven can be found on any street corner.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 10, 2017 -> 08:48 AM) People are unraveling just an extreme number of lies about her. There is some evidence even her sickness is fake. Shes a weirdo. And her and Matt are disgusting. They havent changed their dirty sex sheets in weeks. Kinda hard to fake a bulge in your abdomen.
  17. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 21, 2017 -> 07:52 AM) I enjoyed the episode, but really thought several of the big 7 would die. Pretty lame that only Thoros bit the dust, which was fairly predictable. I guess the dragon makes up for that to some extent. And I hated how stupid it was for Jon to get stuck behind, not die from hypothermia, and to miraculously be saved by Benjen (who didn't need to die). The real issue with the episode is how ridiculous the timeline of events was. How many days would it really take for Gendry to get back to Eastwatch, for a raven to get to Dragonstone, & for Dany to get north of the wall? Seems like that would take multiple days and our little suicide squad would have been f***ed. I get the show has to take some liberties, but this seems pretty extreme IMO. I really hope the books has a different plan for getting the Night's King a dragon than this one. 1 - give up on "the books" 2 - this is all very Hollywood now. Ideally, they wouldn't have yet another Jon Snow almost dies moment. There's absolutely no reason he couldn't have just hopped on the dragon and they could have left. 3 - how does NO ONE MENTION that OBVIOUSLY THE WHITE WALKERS WILL HAVE A DRAGON NOW good s***. whatever. give me the popcorn, the story has to end somehow. I wish it could all be happening before sometime in 2018. Also, I was wondering this very question. My guess is blue fire. http://elitedaily.com/entertainment/viseri...hrones/2049340/
  18. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Aug 20, 2017 -> 10:50 PM) Does the night king know how to train a dragon. That is not a joke. Seems like he can do just about anything. It'll be interesting to watch that thing spit blue fire.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 18, 2017 -> 12:01 PM) Bannon is out. That's a start, and probably what he wanted. Called it.
  20. QUOTE (Donaldo @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 07:28 PM) I was wondering, how much money is in podcasting? I don't think Mac will be getting the six figure salary he got from ESPN and The SCORE, but it's still a paycheck. All about listenership. Once Blue Apron makes an offer, you know you've made it.
  21. I would honestly rather have Trump than someone competent from the GOP. It's better for the country as long as Trump doesn't start a nuclear war.
